Fishing line solves the problem. Large orings help.
I did this for years and never had a blowout.
Rovan make a kit that bolts on some 1/5th wheels and tyres to the X-MAXX and Kraton. Those do NOT blow out, belted and beadlocked for a quarter of the price
Sausage deserves a a new body once you hit this 100mph goal!

When building the veyron, Buggatti discovered it took 700 hp to make 200 mph and another 300 hp to do the next 50 mph. It's because the faster you go, the more "physics" holds you back.
I think you should try again with the same tires but next time screw them down to the wheels in multiple spots with plastic washers

Plumber's putty works as super amazing and super cheap diff locker. And the amount of "lock" depends on how much you stuff in there. It works great
I love how there's 8 days of footage just to get this one video done. Wow man. Also for the "off-road" challenge I think the length of the grass/field type should be similar so you don't have some guy winning on a golf course green or perfectly manicured ASTRO turf.
Just put some non plastic fishing line around your tires, you show me this in the past and since it work well for me, you should make a try! Always fun to watch, keep going!
Kevin, the rim is probably spinning inside the tire, hence the lack of power, I would suggest looking at just getting a solid aluminum tire/rim for the grass, just make it a 1 piece ordeal and forget about the rubber.

I've seen a lot of people put fishing wire around the external tread of the tyre to stop it from ballooning because the wire has such a good tensile strength. Have you given that a try on the normal tyres?
He does on some cars, but those tires are so huge and heaby, the fishing rope probably must me made out of steel or so🙈😂

I put braided fishing line on my tires after they started ungluing. No more ballooning.
That's the first time I've seen an taylor rc formless tire completely blow out.. awesome stuff
Kev as an engineer i have a few ideas, I'm going to suggest you get some billet alloy wheels cnc machined up, they will be totally balanced and lighter than the rubber ones,, I think this will help you heaps.

Old school racer antiballooning trick for RC dirt racers was to put rubber bands around the outside of the tires to help stop them from expanding.
Kevin spends almost as much time with his sausage as I do with mine. That’s impressive. I think it’s great, keep it up!
If you’re moving at 100mph I’d make sure you’re using some decent axle grease
Just don't wrench on it too hard or too often.

Great video Kev, have you thought about soaking the foams in rubber cement or silicone? this "should" help bond them to the tires and wheels, fit them and let them dry for a few days Good luck hitting the ton, all the best Eddie 🐦.
GOTTA LOVE WHEN YOU NEED A FULL ON IMPACT TO DO REPAIRS TO A RC
A loop of safety wire run between treads on the outside of the tires may be a DIY way to keep that ballooning tendency in check.

Hi Kev.
I have an idea that may assist you in achieving your goal.
I believe that you need to stiffen the board to reduce the bounce that is being produced.
I would screw two pieces of angle down each side.
By reducing the bounce, the tyres should stay grounded better preventing them from ballooning so much.
I hope this helps you out.

Exciting to see. Seems like your proline tires need some belts to handle the speed.
Leave the springs alone Kev, you need to swap to a heavier weight oil in your shocks possibly softer springs. Stiffer springs are just going to make it bounce more without damping them properly. I suspect the source of the bounce may be from the flex in the snowboard. You may want to consider some bracing for the chasis.
Hey KT! That Red sausage is Crazy fast can't wait to see you break the 100mph mark! I was thinking if you had some molds made for making some spray-foam with a mesh grounding strap soldered together for a belt on the outer diameter of the foam may work less flexing and ballooning of the foams and tires?🤔😉👍 Great content and videos you always have me in stitches! Hi Kev, just a suggestion, what about some 3 mm wire round the tire of the badlands that might work for that extra couple of miles an hour and stop them ballooning, good luck mate can’t wait for the next one and I love your Vids buddy.

Totally funny seeing that you attached all your RC car gear to a skateboard. I did something similar when I was in Middle School with a radio shack car that had two gears. I just added a second battery. It burnt out the reverse wiring but that thing would fly in forward. It was a little red blazer first car I ever seen with two gears.
£160 a pair for those tyres??? Wow. And they still flew apart. Expensive hobby. 😲

I wonder if there is a way to connect the front drive to the rear one with long driveshaft, so there's less chance of one differential going faster than the other, which could potentially cause tires to fail 🤔
Belt drive to jockey wheels would do it but it would be hassle
I recommend you put lots of screws through the tires to hold them down😊

With the aluminum tires you should put some screws or something through some of the rubber to give it extra holding strength.
Hey Kev seeing the axle set up in the middle of the board made me think you gotta try 6 wheel drive at some point. It might make it less bouncy in the middle 🤔

If the wheels are in the air, they're not pushing the car forward! You're making the right changes Kev so keep up the good work! I'm sure you can crack 100 MPH it's just that field isn't ideal with all the bumps. Keep at it Kev, we love you for it!

Kev, belt the ProLine tires already. Some folks have used really strong fishing line or thin wire around the tires so they don't balloon and blow out.
Kev, have you locked up the center diff? It’s to loose originaly with that large of a motor :) that will help you to get the power to the wheels. Also the reason many people blow center diffs on the 8s :)

Isn't it interesting to see how challenging it can be to go just a bit faster. Especially when you have reached such high speeds.
You should try a heavy fishing line wrapped around the tires to help with ballooning, might be what you need to get that 2mph

As a skier, you’re also getting a lot of flex out of the snowboard. Stiffer skis are more stable. I would try maybe putting a support beam down the middle of the board. Could even just drill a piece of wood into it and it may help
You gain speed when the tires balloon, the diameter increases and moves it further in one rotation, increasing your top speed at the same hub rpm.

Have you ever used “maximum torque” for glue?
It’s a sealant I use at work. Available in the Uk. Might be worth a try glueing the tyres with that. Takes 24 hours to go off. And you won’t get the tyres off afterwards 😂
Hey Kev - Not sure how much this matters on RC scale, But heavier wheels are harder to spin. Rotational mass. it could be that if you went back to the original wheels/ran lighter wheels that you would be able to get the speed you're looking for.. or go faster WITHOUT having to gear up!
Another idea may be to trace out the snowboard and get yourself a custom carbon fiber "snowboard" to put in place of the one you have now. weight WILL cause you to break parts, like you did in this video! Ofcourse it also slows it down a considerable amount. considering how much weight you could potentially shed off - you've got a lot more in it!
Some long strip's of aluminium running front to rear, approx 2.5 inches wide, may help to take flex out of the skate board.

Just a recommendation, find a flatter field. You're losing your speed, stability and tires on those humps. You would have hit your goal by now!

I’d recommend some custom made wheels that are taller and thinner like small mountain bike wheels. That will give you a faster speed without too much strain on the drivetrain

Have you tried fiber reinforced tape on the inside of the tire to help keep the tire from expanding so much?
