    Your videos are underrated. You have literally made Vocational Training for Electricity absolutely obsolete. Watching your videos helped me install electricity in my new two-bedroom apartment. I'm talking chiseling the wall to put conduits, wiring, and all plugs and switches even through an electricity prepaid meter. Your explanations are so simple yet succinct and concise. I teach high school subjects so I know a great teacher when I'm taught by one. Thank you very much for investing your time to do this.

      @@ecologicaltime Awesome tutorials. I am an Electrical Engineer so getting down to the basics really helps when you are used to designing at a high level, without clear understanding of the components at ground level. best quality tutorials i have seen on Electricity.
      Can you make solar DB connection guidlines. Surge arrestors, DC breakers, AC breakers, breaker sizes in DC DB and AC DB.

    Hey thank you very much - I had to replace an oven switch here in New Zealand and couldn't find any wiring info. Thing is, the old switch was a one pole and the new switch is a 2 pole. I got my meter out to check that it matched what you have shown. Simple when you know how and your video made it easy to understand.

    Wow awesome video! I have a question about the stove range/gorrel. If you have a 32A c/b for the stove curcuit what do you use to terminate the stove power cable after the isolator? Can you purchase a socket outlet rated at 32A? Or can you only use the screw in gorrel fittings?

    • @ecologicaltime
      @ecologicaltime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the switch should be at a higher rating than the maximum load current of the stove but not less than the c/b breaking current.

    Thank you for good training I just connect my stove, I think my problem to connect from earth leakage. It got main switch en earth leakage, does earth leakage has no wires connected how to do that? Does earth leakage has neutral?

    Hi there, I have been wiring up an isolator switch for a Geyser and I see that previously on the load side of the switch there are 2 small wires from live and neutral joined together? Not sure what that is? I have a pic as well if I can share with you?

    Great video. Two questions: What size (amperage) isolator should one use for a stove connected to a 40 Amp breaker? Is there any danger in using an isolator with a higher rating than the circuit- for example, can you use a 50 Amp isolator for a cooker hood / extractor connected on a 20 Amp plug circuit?

    • @ecologicaltime
      @ecologicaltime  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      your isolator must have a higher current rating than the stove/load. Doesnt matter if the isolator is higher than the cct breaker. You can use 50A isolator for 20A plug cct, no problem, actually better to use higher amp isolators, they just cost more.

    Is that how the oven blows or explodes because wires maybe in the wrong area of the power switchboard

  • @uknow8561

    is this a double pole isolator? i have seen an isolator, similar to this, but the diagram , says LINE , at the top, and next to it, there is another LINE, so question is, here you are using the live, and the neutral on one side, .... what about that diagram that i saw with two LINES, do you do the same way was you have done here? because if its LINE, it should not be NEUTRAL , correct?

    Is it a must to have isolator for stove?... what will happen if it is a plug only dedicated for stove use

    • @ecologicaltime

      if there is no isolator it will work but the law says there must be an isolator

      @@ecologicaltime another question from Stembiso Nkuna is a dedicated plug. I'm not sure if I'm wrong but by "dedicated plug" he's asking what will happen when he plugs a stove to a normal wall plug. Meaning if the oven stove in converted be a plug on, using its own plug because it's using drawing more amps. How unsafe will that be?

    Thanks for a very interesting video! Just a question. SAN Spec states
    The 6.16.3.1.2 A switch-disconnector for a cooking appliance(s) shall
    a) be in the same room as the appliance(s),
    b) be at a height above floor level of not less than 0,5 m and not more than 2,2 m,
    c) preferably not be above the cooking appliance(s),
    d) be within 3 m of the appliance(s), but within 0,5 m of the appliance(s) if the switch-disconnector’s purpose is not clearly indicated, and
    e) not be fixed to the appliance.
    Does this mean if you have a Oven installed in the corner of the kitchen with a hob to the left of the oven you can install the isolator to the right of the oven against the other wall if the isolator is installed after the fact and to get away form installing it above the cooking surface?

    Hey Fellow South African.. I wanted to find out, can you do this connection with the same two wires but using a 3 pole isolator instead of two pole. You know the one that has three holes on top and bottom, and will it be safe? Thank you in advance.

    Using 2.5twin and earth all the way is it still fine?

    • @ecologicaltime
      @ecologicaltime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on the current rating of your stove. For stove you use thicker wire.

    • @bitTorrenter
      @bitTorrenter ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ecologicaltimeI don't think anyone uses 2.5mm² for hobs. Unless it perhaps a simple one with two plates perhaps.
