A complete, step-by-step guide to trekking to Everest Base Camp, and also a look at climbing nearby Lobuche Peak--the bad, the good, and the beautiful! Whether you're planning your own trip, or just want to see a how to guide for what it's really like trekking all the way from Lukla to EBC, this is the video for you: we show a daily log of where we went (including map and elevation profile), the views we saw, the places we stayed, the food we ate, the struggles we went through, the plans that changed--and even the toilet situation. Very good video. I went there November/Dec 2019. I lived in Columbus GA at the time. I took classic route in footprints of Sir Edmund Hillary, it adds extra 5 days and it is pretty hard I tell ya but it does help you acclimatize better.I trained in the park in Columbus where there are some lil hills with 30 lb backpack. Only thing I would add is the best training is doing stairs, up and down. That is part I missed ,that is the best way to prepare you especially if you travel Jiri,Phaplu classic route. It is lots ups and downs. I live in Florida now, I will work stairs over the highway pass near by for next time I go there. I had a guide but me and my Aussie buddy will peehaps do solo this time. @@wholenutsanddonuts5741 yessir, my friend Elia who climbed Everest three times ,he went to do it once and 25 times later going to Nepal he still can't stay away from it. The same happened to me, spiritual value being there is too great as one meme said Everest 📞 I must answer. Definitely There's something very special there. I just have to go. But as you experienced, it is not for everybody, you really have to be able to take being uncomfortable even suffer lil bit as your wife had stomach trouble, there's no 5
star hotels there. I learned what to eat there( what they're good making it like dal bhat 3 times a day 🤪)and water
need to be sanitized ,i used steripen. EBC trek is not the place to get sick as you know.Still it is adventure of a lifetime, loved people there, their humility and humbleness....

Absolutely loved this thus will beme in a few yesrs i have a lot of work to fo first ..after 8 surgeries and 2 yrs of hospitals rehab i wasn't even supposed to be able to walk again im doing this for me i have to get myself ready i can walk now im really looking forward to this!..........side note! Just a suggestion its soo hard to watch these type videos on a tv because when you talk id like to hear what you are saying its soo low you cant hear soo you crank up the volume but when you add the music in between scenes it goes soo loud ..just a suggestion its not everybody but these are the type ilove to watch not shaming your video its done very well the sound is my only suggestion!!

Congratulations on the achievement
We did do training. I bought a training mask, which cuts air supply, and used it when working out. We did a lot of the stair step machines (oh joy!!) and also walked the dogs and did some small mountains with weighted packs. All in all it helped a ton to do the training! As for tips: the first time get a good guide. They will keep you from going to places that will get you sick, and that’s worth the cost for sure!

Did you actually get to climb the mountain? If so, what place took you? I hope to climb it when I’m 25. 10+ years to train.
You were guided by a knowledgeable, kind, flexible, punctual and experienced tour guide, Mr. Rajendra Rai. Hope, you had a great city tour in Kathmandu with him. We always prefer to work with him and choose him as a tour guide from our travel company.
He is excellent!!
So why did he not take his clients up via Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche high trail with much better views, lots of wildlife and almost no other tourists? Tengpoche can be visited on the way down. Guides and agencies are too lazy and unimaginative to offer better alternatives.
@@karipintakivi9153 In context of Nepal, there are provisions to provide Guide license as City Tour Guide and Trekking Guide. Only a person having both license can guide on city and Trekking routes.
On the other hand, to go Everest Base Camp, almost all people use normal route Namche-Kyanjuma-Tengboche-Pangboche while going up and return via same route. The route you mentioned will add up one extra days too. So normally, they don't mention trek via Phortse. But this Autumn season, I am leading a group using the route as you mentioned exactly to go Amadablam Base Camp like Namche-Phortse Village-Pangboche-Base Camp-Pangboche-Tengboche-Tashinga-Namche. @@surajbhattarai6537 How does Namche - Phortse - Dingpoche add days to the normal Namche - Tengpoche - Dingpoche route? Tengpoche night replaced by Phortse, that is all. Just excuses.
Did you know about the high trail which goes from Phortse to Pangpoche. People should use that on the way up instead of the standard twice-via-Tengpoche itinerary. Mong La - Phortse (night) - Pangpoche offers superior views, less trekkers and a lot of wildlife compared to the standard Tengpoche trail. Many big name agencies are starting to use this better alternative.
Snickers, feench fries and ketchup, very healthy and fitted for a trek, after stomach issues are coming.

I think you missed out by not going to Ama Dablam base camp. For me, it was better than EBC. Good for acclimatisation and also teams climbing there. Ama Dablam is magnificent.

Going to ADBC and staying there for the night (at Mingbo lodge) can replace the first Dingpoche night, as ADBC and Dingpoche are at the same altitude. So there is no time penalty. Best itinerary from Namche: Mong La (lunch) - Phortse (night) - Scenic Trail to Pangpoche (lunch) - ADBC/Mingbo lodge (night) - Phortse/Shomare (lunch) - Dingpoche (night) etc etc. Tengpoche can be visited on the way down.

Yes you can pretty much roll your own as you wish. Two weeks could also be enough if you’re in good shape. :)

No, of course not, she's fat. Lets get real these treks and climbs..you can't have 30 lbs of extra weight. It's dangerous. I have extra weight still after kids, and let me tell you, I would have dropped over after that trek. It's for fit people only.
