Luigi was a long time jazz drummer, teacher, and all around educator in Omaha. NE! He came to my junior high for a clinic. He played a Ludwig bass and snare with Rototoms. It was a young drummers dream!! Thanks for this video!!
The prices posted in the ads were probably LIST price..and they would take off around 25% ..unlike todays 40-50%….Still,knowing that..the Telestart set I grabbed was about $3,000 out the door!…Yikes!
Even back then, sure I would be intrigued, but I wouldve chosen Rogers, Gretsch and Ludwig (Probably in that order) before even thinking of choosing Trixon. And there's Slingerland too... Sorry Trixon!!
Wow, these pictures really bring me back, I remember back in the mid 60s I must've been 10, 11, or 12 something like that, my father used to take me and my older brother to 48th St. in Manhattan, which was filled with musical instrument stores, I believe the store was Mandy's music, and I saw those drums the one with the conical bass drum and I didn't pay much attention to them, but I remember seeing them in the window.

Finding heads for those bass drums can’t be fun.
So true! Must be a little easier after the re-issue but still tricky
@@DrumHistoryPodcast i ordered one from Remo years ago..and..it was too long (top to bottom side)…!
I bought a Telestar set once for $75 (!) out of the paper….maybe close to 30 years ago….Sold the same day to a friend in Florida for $700!

St. Louis Music Supply was the US distributor for Trixon in the mid-1960s, so it makes sense the ads are in a St. Louis newspaper
Very interesting Bob, I didn't know that - makes total sense
If you notice at the bottom of the last ad it looks like they offered financing for the drums with a low down payment.
Good catch! I missed that and realized it after I uploaded. "Liberal Long Easy Terms" - great wording :)
Steve Maxwell had some of these drums in his shops in the past. Very unique!!!
