    I adopted a girl in June, because females of all breeds of dogs aren't as easily adopted or bought compared to males. And I love Mini. To me, gender doesn't matter. Some differences occur, such as humping, or going in heat, but each dog is different, and I love both genders equally. Thanks for this video!

    I prefer male beagles. We adopt adult beagles and all the males we adopted were laid back lovable dogs. Had two females at different times. They were both independent. One little girl had been a hunter and she was an escape artist. The other my husband adopted while I was out of town. That beagle was highly upset when I came home. She bonded to my husband and just tolerated me.

    Had two females, MIL had a male. I prefer the females, but that’s just based on the two we’ve had. Our girls had very distinct personalities, but were well trained and knew what acceptable behavior was for us. Pack order also has an impact. Our younger one just went along and acted dumb until her sister passed. She had never been a single in her life. Once she got past the initial sadness she let us know how smart she really was.

    I miss my Vinicius, my parents got him from the breeder, basically trading him when the one they originally picked tried to escaped the box being a ball of energy, they instead changed him for the one who basically ignored them and was sleeping already. Turned out to be the most chill and kind dog one could ask for, 13 blessed years.

    I had a male 13” beagle. I dearly miss him. But if males are supposed to be more independent, then mine must have been defective in some way… I’m kidding, obviously. But he did hate being alone. I vividly remember baying and loud whimpering whenever I had to step outside to mow the lawn, or returning home from work. We had to take shifts staying in the house whenever everyone was doing yard work and couldn’t bring him outside that day. And as far as affection, he is still the most affectionate dog I’ve ever known regardless of sex or breed.

    I have had 2 females and 1 male all of whom were adopted as adults. I found the boy to be much easier going and more affectionate than the girls (especially my older lady) who seemed much more independent spirits. All 3 were lovely and affectionate pups who I would not have traded for the world.

    I disagree strongly with this , I’ve had both male and female, both have been great, with the usual beagle traits. Very intelligent, amazing senses of smell, very affectionate and need interaction and excise. Never had any of our beagles peeing in the corners of our house.

    Highly depends on nature of individual beagles .. my girl definitely takes tym to learn since she is completely playful and naughty .. she is never scared of any dog of any size she never barks at them but directly jump at the other dog to play .. and also she easily runs away since she is very playful.. so few things differs from a beagle to beagle no matter wat boy or girl

    So true! My baby girl done her potty trained only with twice of corrections at 7 weeks old. She could do lot of tricks, so obidient and docile. She also so clingy and always wants to snuggling on me, esp. at night. Sadly she easily scares of new situations and its so rare for her to bark (she's so quiet). She also so submissive, she often offers her butt, laying down, exposing her belly to another dog (even i'm already worked to raising her independent and confident by providing lot of mind games). She does have high energy level, but maybe its true about its lower than male Beagle because she often got tired before me and she always having naps for hours after playing or walking 🤣 The good thing is my house never broken even i left her home all alone 😂

      I was actually about to make the same comment, because I’ve owned both male and female Beagles, and all of my girls have been at the bottom of every dogfight that has ever been started around my house. My boys have never been at the bottom of any of the fights. My boys have always been fairly chill by disposition, and the girls have been the territorial ones. I’ve also spoken with a breeder more recently because I’m considering getting another beagle after my last one died at the age of 14 back in 2018, and he advised getting a male if you wanted something chill because he said that in his kennel all of the girls are the ones that are territorial.

    Our male beagle is a handsome guy with all the distinctive features of a good beagle with all the traditional qualities. Though he is adorable, he behaves just like an autistic kid who also have ADHD😮...He lives in his own world and gives least attention to what we say. ...He will come to us only if he wishes to do so, not when we want him to come near us. When let loose, he just runs away, and then it is very difficult to get hold of him... the most difficult dog breed to look after...

  • @beaglemusic
    @beaglemusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I have to disagree with many of the comments in the video. I have adopted 8 beagles in my lifetime. Males are more affectionate, in my opinion and experience. And the females run the roost! I had one female, in particular, who was a super alpha. Love all beagles, but just had to comment. And both genders are apt to escape if the human slips up. In general, all my beagles (three males, the rest were female) were/are VERY SMART.

    • @emms1979
      @emms1979 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, I feel like this is solely based on her opinion. I have had 5 beagles. My female was the boss, loved to chase and I actually had to chase her into the street once when she tried to escape. Both genders loved to cuddle as well. Training a beagle in general is hard, havent had any one that was easier due to sex. My males, especially my one now is super affectionate.

    My Beagle is a male, and he's the sweetest among all my dogs. He's mischievous, he's energetic, he's easily trained. He's just the most adorable dog I ever met.

  • @megzarie
    @megzarie 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My female beagle was a major escape artist when she was still alive. My current male beagle can be a bit of an escape artist at times but most of the time he's either following me/a family member or he's just trying to explore. Rarely does he actually run off. Daisy would escape and run off leaving my family and my neighbors at the time to do search party for her. Honestly, I still miss her. I love my dog Monster, but he and Daisy are basically polar opposites. He's a lot more energetic and more prone to tearing up the house if he doesn't have a toy to chew on. He also loves playing with his tennis balls. Like if I picked up of of his balls, and ask him if he wants me to throw his ball outside, he howls and bays. After that I throw it outside and he just goes nuts lol. You'd think he's chasing a rabbit the way he barks while running towards his ball. It's hilarious and easily gives me entertainment for an hour. He also likes to try and hold multiple balls in his mouth. The current record is currently three balls.

  • @TheAlienPicture

    I don’t agree with this AT ALL. I had both female and male beagles in the past and with them was EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE. Female was more aggressive, prone to scape, dominant. The male was more affectionate and docile. I think is a matter of individuality, each beagle has it’s own character not necessarily related with gender.

    I have a male beagle.
    He is really mischievous and active.
    And it was so easy to train, but the toughest to potty train.
    He is really possessive and takes revenge if scolded for trying to eat grapes, chocolates, his treats secretly and other things he is not supposed to eat.
    The most cutest.
    Never home alone.
    Loves fire crackers and taking naps.
    And being a male He is very... extremely affectionate.
    Loves getting treats and seeing his Loved ones.
    Loves to be near and spend time.
    Never cried at night but at daytime few days felt lonely.
    Toooooooo affectionate.
    Loves kisses (belly)
    Hates if you touch his bed or do anything to his bed.
    And for some reason always found sleeping in my bed.
    Doesn't chew.
    Always wigs his tail.
    Dont dare to disturb him while sleeping.
    Always jumps around.
    Sadly he is not well.
    Got fever.
    He is very young, not even one

    From what little I know about Beagles, you can’t keep them in a fence. We had a couple in the neighborhood when I was in NH at Pease AFB before they moved the 509th to Guam. When the snow was on the ground we would play in the hay fields. The beagles were super at catching mice by following their holes in the snow. They’d dig down till not much of their tails were showing. They’d come up with a mouse tail sticking out of their mouth. So funny.

    I got a male beagle around December and he is the most fun loving dog I’ve ever owned. He loves to snuggle, but with that being said he is so hyper sometimes. He runs around in circles and rips up his beds. I wouldn’t trade him for any other dog though. All beagles have different personalities though so it really doesn’t matter the gender beagles will always be the funny sweet and sour dog they are 💕

    I rescued a handsome little 7 year old, newly neutered beagle last year. He has turned out to be the most hyperactive pain in the butt that ever graced the Earth. He CONSTANTLY wants to play. I hate to gives him toys because he destroys and eats them within minutes. Even big toys! He wants to eat up kids. He is not what I needed in a dog rescue. Nonetheless, he's my baby and I love him SO much. I even love that high pitched bark of excitement that he breaks into any time he thinks he's getting something or any change is about to occur. I love when he bites the cat in the face - NOT! Pukes in the car. Eats whatever he happens upon. I'll stop not, but there are countless reasons that a beagle would make a great pet. Especially a male alpha! Lol. Love your videos!

Turns out our boy became protective towards other dogs after being neutered. I strongly believe he became that way sleeping with us immediately afterwards. Our current boy doesn’t sleep with us. It’s been over a year bring neutered and loves all dogs.

      Any time she uses the bathroom outside, reward right away. And keep her outside for a few more minutes each time she uses the bathroom. Make it a positive experience.

    Are Beagles more destructive in the house compared to other dogs?

    • @Sunshinesathem
      @Sunshinesathem ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any dog is destructive without a outlet, but if they have a outlet I’d say they’d be fine. Beagles we’re bred for hunting, so a lot of running when old enough would be great. And a lot of mental enrichment.

    I have a question. I got an 8 week old beagle puppy two days ago! Hes my first dog EVER. I'm just simply in love with him. Hes so smart and a CUDDLE MONSTER like all your videos say. He gets a lot of outside time but I dont know when is a good time to start taking him on legitimate walks. Should I start now or wait until hes a little older to take him jogging and walking??

    • @swtg4136
      @swtg4136 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should first contact a vet to get him vaccinated otherwise he shouldn't be around other dogs as they may be unvaccinated and as a puppy getting infected can cause big problems. Also I didn't know this but they have another vaccination to do with rats and they shouldn't be in areas with water until after this.
      After that you should take him on walks but try to stick to 5 minutes per month (eg 3 months max 2 15 minute walks a day, 4 months 2 20 minute walks a day but play time doesn't count). My beagle poodle mix is 8 months and I haven't taken her on my runs yet and I don't think I will as I go for 5 K runs in 25 mins so I think it'd be too much for her joints. It's important to try not to over walk or run your dog as they will be at a higher risk of hip dysplasia which is painful and limits their exercise in the future!

    • @alexsarbu3978
      @alexsarbu3978 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like S Wtg, I urge you to get him vaccinated - parvo is no joke. No contact with other dogs. You should avoid getting him outside until then.
      A good vet should give you some hints about having a puppy, but yeah, after the vet says it's OK, start slowly.

      @@alexsarbu3978 I got his first vaccine on september 25th, technically he's be 10 weeks as of a couple days ago. The vet said it's okay to start taking him out and slowly introducing him to new dogs and people. I'm just curious as to when his body should be able to withstand going on jogs and such. Should I wait until hes a year old? 6 months?

      A small crate may help. You also have a puppy. Your pup might get nervous in the car and have accidents or be slightly motion sick by the motion of the car. Consider when you feed your puppy if you have to take it anywhere in the car later. Puppies haven't been in the world very long. Be patient😌 They will learn. Best of luck.

    • @BeagleCare
      @BeagleCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, motion sickness is a common problem. When ever you are planning to go on long rides, contact your vet, she may prescribe your beagle meds for motion sickness.

      @BeagleCare  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, every beagle parent goes through this. I can tell that your beagle is a puppy. Give her more exercise: long walks twice a day and some running around the block. When your beagle puppy is tired, she will be easier to train. Trust me. Her energy level will drop with age. She will be a completely different dog in 2 years.
