My hubby has another solution, and I mean that literally. He was asked to do the same task for a friend once while in the Navy. Said friend was looking to put a water feature into her garden. As it happened, his sub needed to dispose of some outdated cleaning chemicals. He looked at them and decided he knew what to do with them. He took them to the friends place, mixed them in a bucket, hid a distance away, and took aim with a shotgun. Stump removed and water feature dug, all in one fell swoop.
OMG! I’m not sure I’ve seen a tree stump with such massive roots!! That’s incredible!! Your parents have a great place it will be so beautiful when they get it completed!
So enjoyed this beautiful video. Glad to see an update on your family's homestead. George has some serious muscles going on! You can tell that he is a hard worker. Thanks for taking us along Shaun. Have a great week and God bless!
I can't believe George did that manually! My back was breaking just watching him. He's amazing! Your landscape videography is always stunning! You should consider selling videos and photographs (if you don't already).
@shaun, wow, stunning picture from these stunning lochs!! Take care✌ and thankk you for all your work to compose this content! It's as always a treat to my eyes, take care and keep on going;-) thanks, greetings from Kirsten 🇵🇾😍
You’re exactly right. Blast it out. When I was very young, you could buy it in hardware stores. The loch is beautiful! I love the house renovations. Just lovely. I’ll try to find an updated video. Best to you two.❤
Oh Shaun, so happy to see you back. Where’s the Clydesdale horse when you need one? 😉 Thank you for the update on your parents project. Your photography is spectacular! Hugs to you and you’re loved ones. ✨💖✨
I think, in the U.S., someone would tie the stump to a big, manly truck and yank it out. Easier to get than dynamite. The bigger stump is beautiful with the roots exposed. Very companionable video, on a nice walk to the green park and along the loch. I was very relaxed just watching. Looks a bit like fall (autumn) still, lots of gold and orange. Lovely. Thank you.
Thanks Mich - I thought about a truck or even my Tesla, just that there’s no way to get close on wheels and even if you could, the ground is very soft - wouldn’t get much traction
@@shaunvlog You don't have to get the truck that close, Shaun. The heavy duty chain you use with the truck/stump can be any length. I had a big stump removed this way. The manly truck with it's powerful engine---got that thing out in minutes.
George needs a tractor. I think Floki is the guilty culprit that ate the bread. Seriously, though, this is another fabulous video with gorgeous scenery. Well done, Shaun.
Doesn't matter if this house never gets finished..just to have the excuse to go back to all that wonderful nature!! 💙 I'd be in for that, anytime!! Thanks Shaun hello from Denmark 🌸🌱
Not sure if this equipment is available in Scotland but thought I would pass this along, do you have access to a two-man auger or a stump grinder? If so, I would check with equipment rental companies about renting the equipment. Or getting a pile driver (what I call it) to attach to a tractor and bust up the stumps to make it easier to cut/pull up.
There's an old tree stump story about my uncles using dynamite to remove a stump back in the 1930s. They found the stump two miles away! Lucky they lived in the middle of nowhere. DEFINITELY don't do that!
Hi Shaun, recently found your page and i love it. I fell in love with the Highlands 12 years ago. There's something about The highlands that soothes the soul. Also i love your choice of music.
Hey Shaun. Whenever you come back to America I'd recommend you check out the Memphis pyramid in Memphis Tennessee it was converted into a Bass pro shop and it's absolutely awesome! BTW sorry I haven't been watching your videos for awhile, I originally came for your videos on America and can't wait for you to return to this country that I love. I've rang the bell so when you do return to videos on America I'll be one of the first there!
It’s looking better, and better. Those roots were something else in size!! The dogs are so pretty and the kitties. Love the scenic views as they are gorgeous❤️
When my mom was growing up in the 1960's in Idaho, the farmers would hire local teens to blow up the rocks in the fields with dynamite, so the teens had easy access to dynamite. But in my lifetime people are far less careless. I can't imagine anyone using dynamite on a stump these days. There are solutions that help break down the stump and machinery that professional tree trimmers use to remove stumps instead
Squeeeee! I love Shaun the Sheep! You live in a beautiful little village! In the States, there are companies that have machinery that drill into tree stumps and remove them. In a remote place like you are, you might get away with a controlled explosion. But in the States the houses are way too close together for that. You have to have permits. Hiring a stump removal company is safer, more efficient, and doesn't cause a lot of collateral damage.
Beautiful loch there in Glencoe! Yes we have pine martens in North America. They are part of the weasel family and much larger. There is also another larger one called a Fisher. Beautiful animals! Nice to see the house renovations!
Fred had a horrible fright To his Stump he applied dynamite He would have been wiser to call an adviser But instead he was blown out of sight. This is on my tree Stump removal business card. We use a machine called a Stump grinder....
Was so hoping that you'd caught site of the elusive pine Martin as I've not seen one before, being that I'm a dumb Yank. Thanks for another wonderful video, and please keep Ragnar well away from all viper pits, lol :)
UaaaaaaaU, é muita lindeza em um vídeo só. Pena que não vou conseguir assistir todo ele agora. I must back to work. My lunch time it's over. Have a great week with Jesus by your side.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hello Shaun. I love your videos. I'm going to be in Edinburgh mid June and will have only a few hours after we perform in St. Giles church. Giving that I'll only have a few hours, what activity do recommend to pass the time there. Thank you ahead of time
Hey Shaun, check out the Australian TH-cam channel Self Sufficient Me and the video How to Remove a Tree Stump with a Wedge. There are a lot of other interesting videos on clever ways to remove stumps.
Thank you for sharing your Highlands with us. Just park the camera and let it record. Its all just stunning and beautiful. Mother nature at her best. It is nice seeing the progress on your dads home. So when are your returning? (wink, wink)
I never understood why there aren't many trees in Scotland or Ireland. I know the old forests were cleared for building and farming, but why hasn't modern day society replanted trees ?
So your dad and God father are South African from Durb’s by the sea, and the car was designed by South African. I reckon a trip to Cape Town is in order id recommend February March to restore away schools are back happy days. see you soon bye Guy.
Actually Shaun, we in the states would use a stump grinder. It would have that stump down in about 10 minutes. That poor man is working so hard.
yes! the best way to do it but, it would cost like $1000 to get a tree co. to do it. the stump sure would have made for a decent bonfire!😊
I was going to say the same thing! We did it a few weeks ago
My hubby has another solution, and I mean that literally. He was asked to do the same task for a friend once while in the Navy. Said friend was looking to put a water feature into her garden. We do have stump grinders in the UK you know
OMG! I’m not sure I’ve seen a tree stump with such massive roots!! That’s incredible!! Your parents have a great place it will be so beautiful when they get it completed!
The lack of people and the sheer beauty is what is most appealing… can’t wait to visit!!!
Thanks, Shaun. Every year, my friend in Aberdeenshire sends me a calendar, and the Glencoe pics always leave me drooling! Thanks for taking us along

What a perfect weekend, Shaun! Thanks for taking us along on the ride!
The scenery around Glencoe was gorgeous! 🏴💜

Glencoe is absolute perfection

It's a great way to get a stump out quick....done it many times, but wouldn't do it in boggy ground without a 4x4 truck.....you'll get stuck.
Enjoyed this! Thanks for the update and the adventure. And those lochs at the end looked gorgeous!
So beautiful and the tour of the house was wonderful. I wish your parents all the luck in the world because it will be amazing when they finish.
George needs a tractor.
I think Floki is the guilty culprit that ate the bread. Seriously, though, this is another fabulous video with gorgeous scenery. Well done, Shaun.
Good job, George.
Thank you so much. Quite the changes to The Old Manse. Impressive, as is the scenery.
Love the raw rugged beauty of Scotland.
It’s a bonnie place 😊
Oh wow, Shaun. That Loch is near where my ancestors came from, Isle of Mull!!
Doesn't matter if this house never gets finished..just to have the excuse to go back to all that wonderful nature!!
💙 I'd be in for that, anytime!!
Thanks Shaun

Renovation is a *itch! I sent my sister a condolence card when she did her kitchen. 😹 It'll be beautiful when it's done!
Absolutely Stunning 😍

@@shaunvlog glad to hear it! I'll be looking forward to it!
Conheci pelo APURE GURIA😁!Gostei do canal👏👏👏
Where we are in the states, most folks just use a pick up and a really heavy strap to pull stumps out.
It’s looking better, and better. Those roots were something else in size!! The dogs are so pretty and the kitties. Love the scenic views as they are gorgeous❤️
The tree stumps could be a new dining set! Did you count the rings?

It looks like the place is coming along. Still hoping I could be a visitor one day. And whoever dogs those are their absolutely gorgeous!
My folks dogs 😊😊😊
But about TNT for stump removal. Doesn't always go to plan. Sometimes the stump goes up and comes down in the neighbor's attic. Ooops!
Squeeeee! I love Shaun the Sheep!

Another coat of paint needed for the Hibs door!
I enjoyed the video, lovely landscape!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful.
Lovely country hope to visit someday 💘 soon.
That's some beautiful video 😍 loved every minute of it 🤩

What was the guitar music in the beginning? it was so peaceful~
I would love to be able to stay at the inn you worked at back in the day. The area is just stunning!!
scotland is calling meeeee 😍

BHow old do you think those stumps are?
hi Shaun I'm Shaun
Can I ask…. When you were in the town square pointing to the buildings behind, we could see writing on your arm. May I ask what it says? Thanks.
One side says Adventure Everything which is my brand slogan 😊
@🏴 Shaun
In response to what you said and the title to this recent video 📹: WHY?
What's the hold up 🤔?

Beautiful!
Your parents have taken on quite a project! I guess we all know where you will be retiring when you are older!
Heh, not so sure. I love it up there for visiting but not sure I could live there
Thank you for sharing your Highlands with us. Just park the camera and let it record. Its all just stunning and beautiful. Mother nature at her best. It is nice seeing the progress on your dads home. So when are your returning? (wink, wink)
Come to East Tennessee and you can stay with us as long as you like...
I'm allergic to manual labor, too. Can't help it. I'm lazy.
I never understood why there aren't many trees in Scotland or Ireland. I know the old forests were cleared for building and farming, but why hasn't modern day society replanted trees ?
Trees are being replanted all the time Marcus , it will take time to reforest our land .
So your dad and God father are South African from Durb’s by the sea, and the car was designed by South African. I reckon a trip to Cape Town is in order id recommend February March to restore away schools are back happy days. see you soon bye Guy.
Beautiful scenery.
