Shaun and Teka, have you ever heard that Miami has the unofficial title of "Capital of Latin America?" Also, about 52% of Miami-Dade County residents were born outside the United States, while 71.9% of the population spoke a language other than English at home in 2022. I agree: Cuban sandwiches are great. There's a restaurant in a store up here in northern IL which has them on their menu. Did you also try the local chain Pollo Tropical? The statue at 10:16 looks like the mascot.
@@bruxi78230, gracias, mi amigo.😀 Several summers ago, I was on vacation as far south as Dry Tortugas, and spent several days and nights hosted by a family in Homestead. That means that sometimes places pack full, some places that don’t take reservations in the off season DO, and there are people and cars everywhere especially at all the touristy places. So bring patience… but you won’t melt as much 😊 it’s getting and staying hotter every year, I can remember as a child having a cold snap to make the citrus sweet each winter. Almost gone now.

The other big Cuban area in Florida is Ybor City in Tampa, which is where was born and still live 37 years later. After watching this I need a Cuban, so I'm gonna walk across the street and grab one...
Are you still in Miami Shaun? Spoke to you before. Originally from Kirkcaldy but have lived over here in Miami for 25 years. Looks like you are having a great time. Enjoy!!!!
The first time I was in Miami was in 1974, there was almost no Cubans. There was a large population of Jewish people from New York City. They still live there but in the richer areas and in Northern Miami. 😊
I totally would love to see you checking out Cuba. The daily life of people can be very challenging but it still a beautiful country. I wonder what did Teka think of Miami. Were there any similarities to Brazil?
Hi Shaun and Teka! Thanks for all you have shared, it is so fun to see you discover my country. Please consider going to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival- you will get the added bonuses of Santa Fe and Taos.
Shaun, come back to South Florida when it's NOT summer - nobody in their right mind comes to South Florida in the summer - it's when the people who live here go to the mountains in North Carolina & Tennessee! Come in November! Miami, the Keys and the Gulf Coast are so much nicer then. Not cold but you also won't get heat stroke. And next time check out Wynwood Walls for some very cool wall art. The Cuban sandwich is a Cuban sandwich in the US, but not in Cuba. And I have no idea what the roast beef sandwich you had was all about. Maybe someplace in Little Havana trying to be a deli? The coffees you had were also completely new on me - you definitely stopped into some places that are very modern something or other, but coffee with strawberry? Mango? NOT cuban coffee, even the cup of "Cuban coffee" you had. Cuban coffee is served black (condensed milk?? what???), in a cup roughly the size of a large thimble. I was born & raised in Miami, and have never had anything Cuban like the stuff you had to eat or drink! It may have been delicious coffee, but it wasn't Cuban coffee! Next time also come just over the north Miami-Dade County line to Hollywood since you like to swim in the ocean. Hollywood has a beautiful beach along the Broadwalk, with plenty of places to eat, a Margaritaville if you want to do the wave rider, and large public parking garages right on the beach.
Here’s a tip. If you’re planning a trip with your viewers, some will join you, but some are probably already at your destination of choice. I know I have several Universal Studios employee tickets sitting around, I could’ve gotten like 6 people in for free… perhaps you could communicate with viewers in your planned destination to help with the financial burden and help plan the trip. 😊

I was afraid that dessert coffee would give you a sugar rush and then crash, totally erasing the caffeine from the first coffee. I love my Caribbean coffee, I order a brand from Purto Rico whenever possible
unfortunately that is NOT a Cuban Sandwich. The original "Cuban" sandwich was actually first created in Tampa in Ybor City and was a mix of the Cuban and Italian immigrants that lived there, hence the Salami in addition to the pork. Real Cuban bread is rougher in texture and what gives it its iconic flavor is when they bake it they press a palmetto leaf on to the top of the dough as it bakes. So come to Tampa to get the real Cuban sandwich. In Cuba they don't even know what a cuban sandwich is. It is totally American (Tampa, FL) creation.
If you are going to plan a location together, the best spot is really Las Vegas. Air fare is cheap, you can get group rates for hotels and there is a lot to do in a smaller area. We do our annual military veteran reunions there every few years because it's so easy for most to get there. Not as expensive as you would think.
I am Cuban and I do not think that that was traditional Cuban sandwich and the second one I have never seen. many people try to reinvent cuban food for tourist and I think that is what you ate.
I laugh at these UK vloggers who come to the USA and act like they're food connoisseurs, when in reality, they're home countries food is disgusting, and no American would eat it.
you obviously didn't watch any of my videos - if you did, you'd know that i say every single time that British food is terrible and American food is much better.
A Cuban Sandwich is Cuban food? Since when? That's floridian food. My parents and grandparents came from Cuba and we NEVER ate Cuban Sandwiches. Arroz con Pollo or Ropa Vieja or Picadillo or Fricase de Pollo with some Flan or Natilla for dessert. The onlly thing not american was perhaps the coffee. Try some REAL cuban pork instead of a Florida Cuban sandwich which most Cubans have never had.

Yes, if you're a purist. But when it's hot and humid (as Miami is), I can see where lettuce would make it refreshing
