Great video and conversation between you two. DBD is definitely heavy on monetization but I don't feel the need to buy skins. Rifts, events and iri shards is how I get skins. I related most in this video when you guys were talking about being new to DBD and not knowing what the hell is going on. It took me 3 months of playing and watching TH-cam to fully understand status effects and perks and being semi competent in chase. 14 months I've been playing now and still fully engaged. Appreciate your videos, Fake. Keep them coming.
I think it would be kind of cool for some of the same reasons I said here like lerys is up you might see more stealth killers for that hour and things like that
Not sure if adressed later but damn I want to be there and talk with you guys so bad about it, the what ends up as my difference in Casual game or Competitive game is solely on the players, all games can be competitive and all games can be casual, most people who play DbD and say "Is a Casual game" is because they do not care what the killer does most of the time, their add ons, their perks, or winning, they just want that surprise or awe from silly murder game, Dracula end game fire pillars is a perfect example of it, I have recorded casual streamers reacting to that add on of mine and laughing and having a smile just because they were casually playing and was a surprise, on the other hand, if I brjng that and the opponent is competitive they are gonna snicker up and say "Wasted add on".
The reason why you should want to win every game is to get the most bloodpoints. The game dose not value your time so you have to be a try hard to get anywhere in it
In regards to the conversation about casual vs competitive, I think games can genuinely be both. Even looking at single player games which are casual by design, they are meant to be immersive and enjoyed at ones own pace, there are still competitive speedrunners for games like Jak and Daxter, Shadow of the Collosus, Resident Evil, etc. I don't think there's a good one size fits all answer because there are always both casual and competitive players in every game scene
I think there is a line but to me it comes down to majority of how the community treats the game Overwatch can be casual on a individual lvl but it's a very competitive game at heart but I get what you are saying
DbD has pretty fair monetization to me besides the FOMO and some licensing issues, with perks being the biggest outlier. Deceive Inc. is the only other game I know that has a fairer battle pass, but it's not as valuable as DbD's battle pass, so it's a trade-off. The discussion about gameplay is interesting. I highly prefer macro gameplay, as chase isn't that appealing to me for similar reasons you mentioned. Using knowledge is an inherent part of skill expression for me, it just needs a way for the player to apply it, otherwise it's wasted. I think I do understand the issue Mint was trying to convey, where knowledge can frequently lead to one-sided interactions, and skill expression is greatly diminished or outright nonexistent. This is why the playerbase largely being casual is often for the better, otherwise the game would be incredibly boring with the lack of restrictions the game currently has.
imo dead by daylight has some monetization that is okay, and some that is horrendous. As long as you can buy killers though and perks are tied behind buying those killers as the primary way of getting them. . . then the game is 100% pay for advantage and to an extent pay to win. It doesn't matter that the nurse is original and therefore able to be gotten with shards, her being original doesn't change what the monetization system is and how it works. At any moment they could drop a new killer that is licensed and S+ tier overshadowing almost every other killer and the same could happen with perks. The best killer/perks falling under one category of the system doesn't change what the system itself is. Unless there are changes to the shrine of secrets, the perks don't escape this fate either. As a concept the shrine is a GREAT fix allowing people to get licensed perks for free. in execution though it doesn't work when they only give you two choices from each side every week. I remember hearing that still to this day some perks have NOT appeared on the shrine even a single time. . . if those perks happen to be licensed ones, then they have been impossible to get so far without spending money meaning the shrine has failed at the one thing it was made to do.
i love helping new players get into the game because i know how hard it can be I WOULD LOVE TO DO A VIDEO if your up for it and talk about something similar to this
1:07:30 on the battle pass for dbd, I agree w everything, but my one gripe is refunding 1000 cells for paying 1000 cells. I like that about games like Fortnite or The Finals where you get a few hundred extra back for maxing it that you can accrue over time to get an extra skin here or there
i always say this when the topic comes up, as long as nurse is the strongest, the game will never be pay to win and as long as shrine exists, perks can never be pay to win, yes i know shrine could be better but its still there and keeps the game in check but i agree perks could be buffed on base killers
but that doesn't make sense, its not pay to win even if the best killer was a payed killer. Because as long as the survivors can compete with them, then its not pay to win. Aslong as the game isnt killed vs killer then its not pay to win
@@FemboyKaiSaku no i mean nurse is still the strongest killer and shes free meaning that the dlc killers wont ever be pay to win as long as shes on top and always an option
The issue is it’s Nurse **AND BLIGHT** The Shrine is not viable. You’d have to wait months to maybe see Grim Embrace or Pain Res in the shrine. Call it ‘free’ but the issue is it is not viable. Nurse may be Number 1 but Number 2 isn’t that far off. Saying “this random choice perk store removes P2W aspects” isn’t a good argument because the Shrine is not a set in stone perk giver. You can get shit like Undone and Beast Of Prey in the shrine.
i just disagree with dbd having the best battle pass...fortnite does it better because u dont have to buy the skin to chose a shirt or head on it while in dbd if lets say spirit was on the pass but u dont own her..then u have to buy the spirit otherwise the cosmetic will stay in ur locker unused !.

if they did the “map booster” per day i wouldn’t ever play on half the days anymore lmao
What if it was similar to how splatoon does it where it changes every hour?

I actually believe the first ever survivors to have a connection with each other are Felix and Elodie! Not Renato and Thatila :)

That's a fair point but I still would say it's one of the better ones on the market and not really much of a solution to that issue
