    My biggest gripe with these services are the sheer amount of deals and perks new customers receive (good on them) and the zero perks loyal 15+ year customers get.

    Your video was very informative. I would be interested is seeing some videos on the Setting: Testing your System. Something Telus subscribers should do on a monthly basis. The one pager provided by the installer is not detailed enough given the number of tests that are recommended.

    Thanks for this. I was an ADT customer. When Telus took over ADT they installed new equipment and started billing me at a much higher rate for the pro monitoring we had before. The bill itself is not very informative and I have not been able to find anything like a new contract in my online account. Did we somehow agree to a price hike without realizing it?

    I didn't watch the video, but I wanted to let everyone know that one down side to the Telus SmartHome is that even if you pay off for all the hardware, you still must pay a monthly fee to use all the equipment. So the scenario I ran into was buying a home where the previous owner paid for all the equipment, but I could not use it unless I subscribed and paid a large monthly fee to use all the hardware. This was a big negative for me, so I decided to step by step replace it all with Google smart home hardware. I hated the Telus hardware, seemed clunky, slow, and not very attractive compared to the Google alternatives.

    A couple of things not mentioned.... the app's "away" quick access button will do everything you set it up to do except one thing.... turn on you camera to motion detect and record when you leave. To me that's the most important thing "it should" do. Instead, you have to sit in your vehicle, open the app and work your way down multiple screens to rules where you can turn it on or off. The app has great "Alexa" integration but again, don't expect to find your camera and show you what's happening on your echo show.

    Why didn't you tell us about how the service is afterwards. The reviews say that the support is non-existent and the equipment is poor quality. Once you've bought the system your screwed with a poor quality system with no support

    Someone entered my apartment today while I was at work because they had to repair some water damage around my living room window. My home security camera did not detect that they were in my apartment. Whenever I enter my apartment, I immediately get recorded by the camera and can watch the 30 second playback. This guy was in my apartment for at least a half hour and there is no video evidence that he was ever there. I know he was because the water damage has been repaired and he left a note on my door saying the work was done.
    Long story short, why didn't my Telus security camera record this guy? That means anyone can break into my apartment and there will be no video footage of them, yet when I enter my apartment, the video recording is immediate. Does anyone know why?

    Thanks for the information. I am changing over from ADT to Telus . Telus bought ADT. Canada. Changing in over to Telus has been a small problem.
    Will let you know how the installation goes for new system.

    Thanks for this and the 2020 review! We're deciding between home security systems and would love your input. We have several existing systems that don't talk to each other (window & door sensors, motion on one system; and smart lock, cameras and door bell on Google nest system), and was hoping to consolidate under one system. From initial research, doesn't seem TELUS supports Google nest cameras or doorbell, which would be the main 2 I'd want to fold under the home security umbrella. It's seeming like best-case is to have Telus manage doors, windows and motion, and then keep all other items on Google Nests ecosystem, so I'll be using 2 diff apps/systems for the foreseeable future. Any thoughts from your experience with TELUS on how to optimize our situation would be much appreciated!

      @TechnologyPaul  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm in the same boat currently. The only way to have Telus manage it all would be to swap out the Google nest stuff for Telus stuff. Telus offers doorbell cams and cameras too. But I still have a Nest doorbell that I bought before getting the Telus system and am stuck using two apps as well!

    Nice representation! BUT: I asked TELUS HOW LOOKS real Agreement for 3 years contract, and got NOTHING.
    All I see my duties,but if telus folks do not come for emergency signals, what is your RESPONSIBILITY? If you for example ,tel me" no cars available to come to your property"? Somebody knows what is the deal with Telus? Thanks

    I have 5 Eufy wifi Cam B2C cameras I bought over time for a price between $50 and $60 dollars when i got them, now around $80 Canadian. I also have 2 Arlo Pro 2 cameras that were way over priced as a package with base for around $300 many years ago, I drop them they started charging subscription to record local video to work. I also have 2 door bell cameras. So I've spent about $700 over a period of 5 years. I bought Arlo first but price sucks and they don't charge in Canadians winters but will run off power cable. I have all this now and don't pay a dime in subscriptions or monthly telus fees. Telus service sucks period the only time they pay attention to a customer if they are trying to sell you more plans or get you to increase your plan. I had a rep call me on the phone and I told them about the trouble I was having with their router and she made like she was going to get service to help me out said she would here back ASAP and nothing. Must have been the end of her shift or she decided I wasn't worth the time or effort.

    i love it and set up was great, i am still tweaking the settings theres alot lol but i get so much peace of mind having children and even being able to talk to them through the camera... or my wife spying on me lol that can be a lil creepy but i got 2 indoor cameras and i can turn them around when were home to view the front n back doors so there is alot and the installer was very kind and professional gave me a low down on how to do everything and insisted he wanted to help with putting everything up witch was nice .... im am 5/5 happy with this... even know if the landlord comes and goes from my place with the user setting of pins!

    My wife and I were looking into this, the rep in store said the equipment were rentals. Can you confirm this?

    • @TechnologyPaul
      @TechnologyPaul  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not that I’m aware of. The contract I signed allows me to keep the equipment. Technically, the equipment is all based on the zigbee standard so it could be used through a different provider.

      I just signed up with Telus and yes the equipment is rental. I asked that question as well. The payment goes to monitoring service not your equipement.

    Telus's outdoor cameras really suck. You cant make anything out. I did not find the cameras easy to set up. Was a huge pain. Also cameras can only record 30 to 60 seconds. Guy broke into one of our vehicles and couldnt see where he went afterwards as camera only recorded 30sec. There are way better options out there. Blink, nest etc. Dont get locked into a 3 year contract with telus.

    • @KalaBader
      @KalaBader ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about blink but I can tell you nest sucks just as much. We’ve had it for years and it never records when we need it to. I’ve walked in and out of my house and it didn’t even detect it multiple times. Don’t get nest.

      The in house sensor is different from the window/door sensor. When it's set to stay mode you should be able to open the door and leave.

    • @matthoffman6962
      @matthoffman6962 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do not and do not support use outside of TELUS made cameras. If you want something else like blink, nest etc you have to go to their services and pay the monthly fee for that. All these systems suck tbh. Guess how to deactivate all of these? Snip your fibre cable going into your house. Done.
