Some Kind Of Denial

  • Another new song! I couldn't record outside without destroying the camera due to rain, so I opened the door to let the rain come in! This song was originally called "asbestos, cars, cigarettes, fossil fuels, forever chemicals, nuclear waste, microplastics, radium", but Alexandra said it's not a good title. It's about the denial of ecological catastrophe and climate change that enables our every day consumption habits and how industries and governments responsible knew for a long time the impact of, say, fossil fuels on the climate/PFAS on health, and still choose to deepen society's dependency, making the planet more unlivable every day. All to protect the financial interests of the company owners under the guise of job creation/protection for today's people, leaving the mess for future generations to deal with.
    Lyrics:
For a long time industry knew
buried gases released into the atmosphere
would alter the climate on a planetary scale
    PFAS in our bodies,
    the water, and the ground
we got a list of consequential diseases
    gifts from companies like 3M
    like asbestos and radium
    fossil fuel disinformation
    made climate change denial
    ignorant, useful idiots
    buy Exxon some more time
For a long time industry knew
    they looked at their wallets
and decided to bury the evidence
    to prolong their demise
I hope this song reaches the people who need it. Thank you for watching and listening! :)
