If Jonas is growing into form vs last year due to accident…he did not lose much time at top of climb and lost most on decent which will not be issue in week 3…the Tour is far from over
Is Patrick more confident in Jonas more due to the level he’s shown? Or from Pogacar hasn’t shown (aka not taking more time on today’s climb)? #TeamTadej
Patricks analysis is missing one important fact in my opinion: Pogacar doesnt win with an incredible burst this year. The hairpin where the gap dtarted was 250m+ after his launch. However dumm it was, O'Connor stayed with him on stage 2 for quite a while. I think he sacrificed his burst to better xounter vingegaard. And since this is hos first victory over him in altitude, i dont think Visma should just shrug it off. Headwind also played against UAE dropping more people and Pog launching earlier. Anyway, just like last year we might be in for a battle with swings...
The old patrick is gone 😞This is now corporate visma management employee patrick, any excuse is good: Not hot enough, nog enough climbs, too many hairpins, others outsprinting him for bonis, gravity on the descent. Somehow he is 50sec behind and Jonas still has the moral victory. If Pog is smart, no way jonas is still winning this Tour. Just stick to his wheel, don't attack, dont make stages harder then necessary and outsprint him every time at the line or for bonis. With the TT still to come jonas will be 1min+ behind at the rest day.
Guy's, While changing the sheets, I was listening to the description of UAE's domination of the field and thing's, looking ominous for Vingegaard and suddenly Patrick decided to make him the favourite for the Tour win. Did something happen? Did I fall asleep on the bed and miss a whole thought process that would make this make sense?😅
Tadje will win all three grand tours this year and everyone will say how great he. Jonas wins one TT vs a compromised tadje and they will beat the PED drums. So crazy!

#TeamJonas - seems Gerraint Thomas is on #TeamJonas too, after listening to his pod from Stage 4! Form looks good. Will be better in week 2 and 3 - will see Pogi tire later in the tour. TVL had a bad day… expect them to learn and improve - this will sting! And… Jonas’ TT is under-rated… Will see how Remco’s form is in week 2 and 3 - unproven against real competition.
I mean Patrick has his reasons for such statements and to claim they're delusional, would be delusional. I certainly should correct myself and say that it is not annoying. Far from it. That said - I'm team Pogi. 🤠
a little confused about the pogi stage 7 30second gap prediction. I thought jonas was a quality timetrialist. Is the stage too flat or short for him to compete w pogi?
First Jonas needs a team. I still like there team in theory, but they have to step it up. TT will be very interesting. Last year Jonas wins it in my opinion. Also what about Remco, who should be favorite, and Rogla?
IMO, it was a tactical mistake for UAE not to send Ayuso on the attack into the headwind once Jorgenson was dropped and Jonas was isolated. Make Jonas either do repeat surges to covering Ayuso or ride his own pace, but be forced to lead into the headwind with Pogi on his wheel.
@@biscaynediver I personally dont think jonas would have followed an attack by another uae rider that is not Pogacar. But they could try that in the coming Stages to attack the other contenders
@@pyraxwhippa Yeah, Jonas would have let Ayuso or Almaida ride away - he'd turn to Pogi "If you want them to beat you, go right ahead".... No way UAE is letting that happen, nor is Pogi letting that happen. Now Jonas... IF he had Sepp Kuss... would let it happen.
If I’m Jonas and Ayuso or Almeida attacks I’d for sure just let them go. Even if no other teams pull and Ayuso or Almeida take a minute or two, how would Pog react to that rider being so far ahead of him? And how would the infighting affect Ayuso or Almeida? If I’m Jonas/Visma, I’d fully call UAE’s bluff and not react at all to those two, only react to Pog 🤷♂️. Basically taking the MVDP approach, risk losing the race to give yourself the best chance to win it.
There’s no scenario in which Jonas should respond to an attack by Ayuso, Almeida or Yates. It doesn’t make any difference if Jonas is 2nd or 10th in GC, after 2 wins. If he can’t keep up with Pogacar, it’s over, doesn’t matter what the rest of UAE does, they are not his competition. After his crash, he should not kill himself this year, he can let the Pogacar stans think he broke him and come back even stronger next year. I think Pogacar wants to prove himself after two defeats and will not be this motivated next year anyways. #teamjonas all the way
Remco was indeed good and crossed the top as third, but what if Almeida and Ayuso wouldn’t have had to pull into the wind, would he still cross Galibier in third?
Remco is the story here. Only 45 seconds down after 3 tough GC stages. Impressive TDF debut. Predict he'll be in yellow on Friday after the TT. If he's within 2 minutes for Nice TT, he could win it all!
Jonas does not have the team to hurt pogi in the harder stages right? Now just hope that UAE is not going to hurt pogi themselves and do the work for Jonas
Personally I think the way Patrick is handling this is great. Of course he is biased yet what a job on the Pod! He is invested in team Visma with key advice and specifically Jonas. The way Jonas beats Pogacar has a very narrow landing space for success. Long climbs, cumulative fatigue. good tactics. It is what made 22/23 riveting. If Pogacar has lost 1.5kg and is at 7W/KG but is more powerful in the flats then he may just be better BUT we ALL have to wait and hope they tow the line in 2025 fit and healthy to find out. If Patrick weren’t invested in Visma and Jonas notably then he’d not be involved in high performance sport. Plugge would fire him. He’s doing an exceptional job and clearly can see the phenomenon that is Pogacar more clearly than 99.9% because he’s paid to try and solve a problem like POG!
I'm genuinely surprised and glad how Remco is keeping up/coming back. I may have underestimated this guy.
It's early days, and the tour is long. The high mountains in week 3 will decide that, but agree completely - nice to see him being aggressive.

Jonas will go sometime with Ayuso, and Ayuso will help Jonas win the Tour - with Ayuso getting a podium spot as thanks!
Ayuso wasn't at the limit. He was saving himself. How could he cross the top 4 before the other GC guys. If he was pulling so hard like Almeida, he would have been with Almeida. It's showing, Ayuso has his own ambition. I honestly don't like the finish on downhill like this. Yes it's part of the sport. That's not an excuse to exploit the danger even more for the "fans entertainment." Remember Gino? They weren't even going downhill to chase yellow jersey. Imagine how's their family at home watching their loved one going down at 90km-100km/ hour in a lyra short.
#BotaLume #TeamJoao
If Jonas is growing into form vs last year due to accident…he did not lose much time at top of climb and lost most on decent which will not be issue in week 3…the Tour is far from over
So glad Benji stands up to LRs nonsense apologies for Jonas lol
LR is employed by Visma...what do you expect him to say?
Yeah Benji is amazing on this podcast
Although he did called out Jonas dropping Pogi on Granon when everyone called him a flat-earther
@@Jeruti lol who was calling him a flat earther? Predicting the team with Jonas, Roglic, and WvA would be strong does not a Nostradamus make.
@@robvettori9636 I think you’re forgetting what a huge upset it was at the time. Pogi was considered unbeatable
Is Patrick more confident in Jonas more due to the level he’s shown? Or from Pogacar hasn’t shown (aka not taking more time on today’s climb)? #TeamTadej
Mostly it's because Richard Plugge pays his mortgage
Jonas did not look good at the finish line.
Just out of curiosity, Cav is in third place for the actual ´´lanterne rouge´´ prize! If he can go really slow on the TT, he can pull it off!
Anyway, just like last year we might be in for a battle with swings...
visma weak
The old patrick is gone 😞This is now corporate visma management employee patrick, any excuse is good: Not hot enough, nog enough climbs, too many hairpins, others outsprinting him for bonis, gravity on the descent. Somehow he is 50sec behind and Jonas still has the moral victory. If Pog is smart, no way jonas is still winning this Tour. Just stick to his wheel, don't attack, dont make stages harder then necessary and outsprint him every time at the line or for bonis. With the TT still to come jonas will be 1min+ behind at the rest day.
Is it only me or is Pog a bit of a wobbly descender in some corners? Visma has to send Wout up the road like in the past on finishes like this.
when your paid by Visma ya gotta say Pog will get cleaned
I guess Ayuso really came to the Tour to fight for his GC, rather than being a domestique...
no.white jersey
Guy's, While changing the sheets, I was listening to the description of UAE's domination of the field and thing's, looking ominous for Vingegaard and suddenly Patrick decided to make him the favourite for the Tour win. Did something happen? Did I fall asleep on the bed and miss a whole thought process that would make this make sense?😅
Tadje will win all three grand tours this year and everyone will say how great he. Jonas wins one TT vs a compromised tadje and they will beat the PED drums. So crazy!
Go watch 2020 TT and you will see the same exact thing. Go watch 8th stage in 2021 and you will see the same thing...the best get called out for cheating every year in cycling. Vinge aint spacial in that
#TeamTadej All Dej! All DAY!
Come on remco, you will win this, trust me
Pogacar will reach 35 before Cavendish.
He is averaging 3x per year. Needs 12 at that rate BUT this year he May up the rate…,
@@michaelgriffiths305 still, cant see anyone at the topfor ten years nowadays
I don’t really understand the co leadership argument with UAE. If Pogi is in the race UAE won’t let Ayuso or Almeida win the tour.
My power meter wouldn't connect. . .uh huh
#TeamPogi
Even if Pogacar wins in this tour, it is not a convincing victory..... it is just the.4th day of 3 weeks...there's a lot of things to happen...
I don't think there were massive differences in the technical part. not sure how you worked out he was losing a second a corner
why he didnt get the wheel n the first place too
@@freddieevans4906 the gap fluctuated continuesly, corner entry Vingegaard gained, on exit/straight Pogacar regained the time. He's just pointing out the difference in their strengths.
@patrickschellen737 lol you cannot trust the timings enough to analyse like that
@@freddieevans4906 but you can see their lines etc, so you can make an educated guess. Truth is, Pogacar didn't get a massive gap there.
And… Jonas’ TT is under-rated…
Will see how Remco’s form is in week 2 and 3 - unproven against real competition.
The team should take Ayuso’s doggie away for the rest of the Tour
TODAY POGI GOTCHA!!!
🤙🇸🇮💛🇫🇷
#teamtadej
Agree 100% with Bengi here. Jonas was on the ropes. It is not similar to 2023.
Jonas was dead on the Galibier. If Tadej had attacked earlier, he would have lost at least a minute at the top.
Patrick is massively biased
Yep, he’s on the Visma staff now. 😂
It’s a shame as his biases show through now more than ever. It’s really dragging down the show somewhat but atleast Benji is showing push back.
Visma knows first hand how that type of infighting can effect the team 😅
Similar/together…
Remco is the story here. Only 45 seconds down after 3 tough GC stages. Impressive TDF debut. Predict he'll be in yellow on Friday after the TT. If he's within 2 minutes for Nice TT, he could win it all!
he cant get 2m
the whole world knew UAE were gonna smash it, seeing as it was so obvious
#TeamRodriguez
Jonas does not have the team to hurt pogi in the harder stages right? Now just hope that UAE is not going to hurt pogi themselves and do the work for Jonas
#TeamTadej its comeback season
#TeamJonas I believe Jonas is better climber in really long hard stages, but it's very diifficult to proof it during the race.

@@cesc1495 still one can hope also if pogi wins and they start playing for podium it's gonna be boring
#TeamPogi . I still do not see Vingo will be able to finish the tour .

#TeamJonas jonas should not try to follow pogi fast punchy attack, just do his pace
