Patrick with the hottest of takes that last year's 3rd place is the 3rd best gc rider in the race 😂
@@josephsong8911 Remco has nothing on Yates at a grand tour but Roglic smokes him if he doesn't crash out
@@josephsong8911 Yeah, that's one of the worse takes. @jordi33 has no idea what he's talking about.
@@Kazzimirski this was actually the coldest take of 2024
@@Slow.Smooth Not cold enough to keep it fresh, apparently, because three days later this take has aged like sour milk in the sun. Lmfao

They climb and descend Galibier in the direction they took it when tom pidcock did that daredevil descent and then won on alpe d'huez from the break ahead of Meintjes and froome.
I pray that at a certain point in the race a big break goes and Jorgensen, Landa, Vlasov, almeida are all represented and there is a staring contest between al teams. Imagine the scenes with kuss but at all teams at the same time. Funny thing is the second leader strategy has been so mainstream it actually might happen too.
Soudal-Quickstep would just sit back in the Peloton and look at the other 3 Teams because Remco has the least amount of internal pressure in my eyes. Jumbo can say to themselve that it worked at the Vuelta and Jonas isnt in peak shape probably. Roglic and UAE would be panicking is my guess.
Best TH-cam vid of the year... looking forward to it!!!
The show the world has been waiting for.
We want the fireworks to start🎇🔥
I could fully understand if Vingo is not (yet) the same rider and i would not blame him if his handling takes time to get back to his normal excellent level. His ITT in the TdF in rainy Kopenhagen, 2 years ago, impressed me a lot . You can plan a lot in cycling but coming out of a serious injury both physically and mentally is something else. Godspeed you Viking Emperor
Just in case you don’t know by now Kuss is out COVID
@kayhayes5what? Really???114
@@LarsRyeJeppesen yes announced this morning I’m afraid.
@@kayhayes5114 so sad
I Predict Jonas does not make the top 3. I am lying in the hospital with broken ribs, broken scapula. Some hurt vertebrae and lots of skin. missing. I cannot believe now that Jonas is going to podium
godspeed bro.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
yeah i feel like they're extremely positive he'll be in top form when I'm thinking about evenepoel who's finally getting back to similar strength before his crash, but that took half a year. Jonas had two months. Really like the guy but I feel like pressure is mounting to a completely unrealistic degree, if he can finish in reasonable shape without losing too much time I feel like it'd already be an achievement but maybe I'm too pessimistic on the other end.
Also hope your recovery is as quick as Jonas' will hopefully be 🙏 stay strong mate
Remco is his own backup. If he is not competitive as GC rider he switches to winning stages. He has shown he can.
Remco can still go for white jersey.
I am going to take the whole week to digest this one!!!!
I love your podcasts and especially your chemistry!
Please keep it up for decades! ❤
Brain says Pog, hearts says Rog. Thank you for the great preview guys!
One problem for Jonas will be descending, I think the crash will effect him with no race days since to be comfortable
stage 4 was the other side of the galibier when visma attacked pogi with the telegraph :) Great podcast as always.
Stage 4 is actually the way it was in the Alpe d'Huez stage in 2022, not the Granon one, so the descent into the finish is the one Pidcock bombed down. Makes his bid for the stage win even more possible tho
If you told me 5 years ago that I'd be refreshing a Podcast waiting on a Tour de France preview. I would of called you crazy 😂 LRCP got me hooked on cycling.
Olympic Roglic turns up takes 3 minutes out of everyone on the final tt and wins the tour avenging 2020
On the tt? Wild
I think UAE are going to do the train, Sivakov > Soler > Ayuso > Almeida. I think at this point Almeida has it in him to drop every other GC rider off the wheel of Yates and Pogi. If they do, they will cruise to the finish. If they don’t, you can be for sure it will only be Roglic and Vingegaard left after a hard Almeida pull. Yates has shown his power and could be pretty much red line those two before Pogi attacks and no one will be able to follow him
Nah
@@5508Vanderdekkenwhat do you mean nah, it’s very possible that they have the hierarchy all set out and will make the competition hurt badly
I think Almeida will under-perform… Yates is pretty stable, Ayuso need to show something and Soler will have his moments… but watch for Jorgenson UAE!
enjoy the tour, can’t wait to for the show on the road + the show on the pod!! keep up
Hot take: Cavendish gets his 35th stage win, but it's from a breakaway, not a sprint.
That is a very hot take.
Was wondering if you guys would go live for last 3 climbs of stage 1?
It’s the 1st stage, a great stage, and most importantly… a Saturday lol.
Amazing! 2,5 hours! I am proud of you guys!
Galibier is also 40 points because it's the Henri Desgrange monument 1:21:55
Gen. Majka should be here as you said it
Amazing pod as always guys! So looking forward to the watchalongs
Let’s GOOOOOOOO!!!!!🤩💛🇫🇷
Summing up Jonas's injuries and then stating that they probably hindered his Tour preparation must be the top understatement of the year. 🙂
I think this tour will be easy for Primoz, only two objectives. Stay on the bike and follow his former teammates. And then well as he says himself all the time: We will see huh?
So hyped gor the start today!
And it's here!!! The most awaited podcast on Earth!😊 Thanks guys!
The Tour De France can officially begin now!
10pm 😢 gonna have to watch it tomorrow
Due to the route and lead riders this will be the grand tour with the highest total KJs in history
54:18
Any other sprinter I've missed, Benji?
Well, Lidl-Trek with Pederson, I think is an important one.
He's pretty good, yeah.
I’d love a 1-pager on all the special jerseys in the tour this year. Which world and national/continental champs are on the start list?
Essential pre-tour ritual. Great video!
Jelle Vanendert's victory has a special place in my hearth. Brought my dad to tears
Loads of very strong breakaway riders this year. Will be a lot of Fights between break and peloton.
If you're going for a board game night, I think Flamme Rouge is the go to for a cycling pod.
Hundred percent agree. Definitely the best cycling board game out there.
The most serious podcast on the planet, well except for the Tug Buddy T-shirt LR is wearing
yes! lets GO! this will be EPIC!
Amazing preview as always guys! Can't wait for the race
Hot take: G will lead out Cav on every sprint stage
🥰
0:10 I'm not sure the time you're releasing it is the best for 'get yourself a coffee' gimmick
the roglic hate and the yates love holy shit
Sheesh Two hours!
Kuss out. Doing a preview is like hitting the proper break. Darn it.
Hello, this is Aranburu. I acknowledge your existence... Patrick.
Yeah, the Cime de la Bonette is definitely in the 'lower' alps! :P ;-)
Stage 4 is the easy side but it’s not the side Jonas and Roglic attacked Pogi. They go down the same way as Pidocks attack, top half is technical bottom half is straight line to finish
Just the sort of podcast you want before the Tour start.
I think you guys are way too low on Roglič. He will be a competitor for at least first 14 days. Biggest concern are crashes of course.
Not having (a fit) Kuss weakens the visma team climbing wise so now UAE is by far the strongest climbing team. But they are indeed unbalanced, if Pogacar takes yellow early on controlling the race (espescially the flat/classic parts) would take a LOT out of their climbers. It will all boil down to individual strength of the anorexic gladiators. Let the hunger games begin.
Kuss is not going now:(
@@hutchy_4297 Yeah, really sad news. Team Visma has never won a GT without him being on the team.
Unless Jonas can compete, it will be rinse and repeat. Giro 2.0. Pog by a mile. I don't like saying it. I actually hate the thought of yet another GC snooze.
There's enough GC guys in this race to keep it interesting. If you have two teams attacking you consistently up a climb you're going to struggle even on the form of your life. Roglic and Jorgenson both have that capability, Evenopoel too.
Who is watching on the 2nd rest day of the tour
Laterne, I miss a discussion about Top 10 GC fight! That plays out in the last week nicely.
Wait. The gravel sections count UP from 1-14 and not down!? that’s illegal
I was waiting for this! Did not disappoint.
I'm looking forward to this tour but mostly because I think there are question marks next to several names: Roglic, Remco, Bernal, etc.
I liked the drama within the teams hot takes. I think any of those could happen. If the GC looks settled early, I can start "analyzing" team dynamics. Could be fun...
Great pod, as always. Love the shades, Benji.
Haven't watched yet, here to comment that the parcours looks like it's heavy towards the end and could actually favour Jonas' development throughout the Tour back to full fitness, preventing a pogacar-style blow-up like last year.
Roglic for the GC grand Slam. you heard it here first
waited for this pod before picking my fantasy team
Almeida looked stronger than Yates at the end of the Swiss tour. Scary UAE team either way.
I want to pull for Jonas, however, with GC Kuss now out and the significant injuries of Jonas, I just can't see him making it all the way through 3-weeks at a high-level. If/when Jonas faulters, I hope that Visma will quickly switch support to Mateo to give him a legit shot.
I don't believe in Remco having the ability to ride a clean 3-weeks, he will flame-out at some point and then stage hunt.
The form of Roglic looks the best of the top contenders (who are not Pogi) coming into the race. For me the key with Roglic will be staying upright (not crashing) and having good team support so that he does not always have to work hard himself. If Roglic stays healthy, he can contend for the podium, but I don't see him winning.
I believe that UAE will have the team under control and dialed-in for the race. The slight soft-spot of not having strong rouleur support will be noticed, however, the strength of Pogi along with the incredible climbing support that UAE is brining will more than make up for that slight weakness.
I am looking at Carlos R from Ineos to be a surprise 2nd place behind Pogi with Roglic in 3rd. Pogi will win by more than 5 minutes.
Cav will win 2 stages and Mads Pederson will take Green.
It would be awesome with a 4-way competitive race, but I could see Pogacar with a 3 minute lead after stage 4. Hopefully that won't happen, but the other 3 favorites have all had less than ideal preparation for the race.
This tdf can theoretically deliver anything from essentially last year, vinegaard winning in front of pogi or roglic and ayuso cracking on the first speed bump, to vinegaard full cracking and UAE splitting the entire podium between them
All I need to listen to for today... MORE THAN 2HOURS AYEAH
Guys, 2.5 hours. You are spoiling us
Preview bigger than Bardets Timegap after Stage 2
I want to apologize to the Emperor Romain Bardet
hayter was never going to ride the TDF as his focus is the track at the Olympics.
thank you guys. just. thank you.
Yessirrrrski. Benji is different, look at this man ! Amazing style
Ooohh nooo...2+ hours video almost at midnight 😅 rip next workday😅😂
My favourite 2 hours of the year
Benji nailed it - TBH i just want the exciting riders to animate the race for 3 weeks, not too fussed who wins. Cracking route that deserves a classic reputation in the future.
Random top 10 - Bruno Amirail.
Hot take - Vingegaard & Roglic both miss the podium places.
GC top 3:- 3rd). Bernal, 2) Remco, 1). Pogi.
Hot take - Jasper P DQed for sticking Cav into the barriers on the 2nd sprint.
I dont understand why no one is considering that giro might influence Pogacar form during the TDF. He won it easily that's true but still he had to prepare a peak form for the giro and then for TDF I'm not so sure he will be 100% during TDF.
Totally agree. No one could do it since pumpedup Pantani, noone. People really underestimating the MENTAL fatique a 3 week long race can cause! Phisically maybe not as much since it was "easy" but it is 5 weeks (2 week before for scouting and 3 weeks race) total focus. And people talking about it as optimal training, like wtf theny why noone ever does it lol
I've been fiending for this episode for the past few days
Bro, it's Tours de France. Otherwise, Laterne Rouge is the best source of bike racing info and analysis that has ever existed! Nice work, dudes!
Benji needs to wear that shirt on every stage.
Watching this over multiple days so every time I log back on you guys get more ad revenue
I am clearing my calendar to book a 2.30hr LRCP session. 😂
I think Roglic has a decent chance at winning because he got that extra motivation of finally winning the tour in possibly his last year
Yeah these guys are so quick to write him off. Like wtf
Plateau de Beille stage was won by Marco Pantani in 98
yeah i'm in to CINEMA (140 min youtube video about professional road cycling)
I desperately want Pidcock to abandon his GC dreams to go for the gravel stage
Can't wait to see De Lie at the Tour, he absolutely bossed that Belgian Champs sprint.
i think you should believe in Roglic for top3, i think he will battle with Pogi e and Vingegaard
Okay hear me out for side content on LRCP
LRCP race each other with their wife's in a support car for each rider. Handicap may be needed. Recommended to do it as a ratio of FTP of the two riders or the ratio of GDP per capita of Belgium and Australia. May need some tweaking.
Luke could be swapped if Benji's wife doesn't go to Andorra (IDK I don't follow you guys on twitter).
Alternatively get some world tour riders not at the Tour to be involved with shoulder content.
I hope Jorgenson gets an opportunity to show his best.
Fantastic preview gents, well done. Imho, I don't think it's going to be the amazing tour battle, cycling fans have so desperately yearned for. Remco and jonas have been too long injured to be in peak condition. Roglic's best days are behind him. No, this race will be over after the first week with pogi in yellow until Nice. My dark horse and the only challenge to Pogi is Carlos Rodriguez. Ineos have an excellent team around him....imho.
