I just did this today to my 98 Tacoma, using a set of ramps in my driveway. I followed this video. The only difference was that I sprayed the adhesive on the gasket instead of on the rim of the pan, I just didn't want to get glue into the pan that I had just so thoroughly cleaned. Other than that, it went exactly like the video. It saved me $120! Thanks Pros!
I wouldn't use adhesive for the gasket... transmissions and fluid are sensitive to contamination... just use a few bolts to gently align or use some gasket wax or gel lightly in a few spots on the outside to retain its position. Just my opinion. Thanks for the video!
This is about the 6 cylinder tacoma. For the 4-cylinder, don't try removing the oil filter, it's simply impossible, serious garage work, as you can't move filter between 2 metal hoses and bevels all around. A solution would be nice. Also make sure you have the right gasket, as Napa looked up my VIN and still came with the 6-cylinder gasket.
You can't do thus unless you're listening to the same music
Do I have to remove the deep stick?why?
SMP What did you torque the bolts down to?
Why remove the dip stick tube?
Nice video. I watched it this morning before performing the work on my wife's 2004 Tacoma. It made the process go much smoother. Nothing like being prepared! I didn't remove the dip stick tube. It wasn't a problem. The hardest part is getting the old gasket material off the pan! Thanks!
I just keep thinking about how easy this would have been if i had a lift when i did it. did it on my back in the drive way and ive never been more sore.
Does anyone know if this is the A340E transmission designation? I am trying to buy the right filter/gasket kit to replace shift solenoids, but I see 2 different shapes of filter. There is an 8 digit transmission code on a sticker in the driver door threshold. Can anyone confirm from experience that the type shown in the video is for A340E? I have a 2001 4Runner with the 3.4 sr5 engine and hopefully the same transmission. Thanks!
Absolutely outstanding, detailed, informative, clear, direct, to the point, with visuals and sound totally at the highest caliber. 👍🏻😉👍🏻🏎👍🏻🚙🇺🇸
I invited some friends over for a party. We didn't bother to watch the video. We just turned up the music and danced to it all night long.
Omg the music drove me crazy. I was trying to learn something!
great video.very professional.thank you very much
On my '96 Tacoma 4x4 automatic the last guy that did this job really hosed me!
Best Tranni kit vlog on TH-cam I have seen for Toyota!
I have a 2002 Tacoma V6 Double-Cab 4x4 with an Aisin automatic transmission. My owner’s manual says to use Dexron III which is a GM ATF. GM upgraded their ATF to Dexron VI and it’s backward compatible to Dexron III. Make sure that you refer to your owner’s manual for the correct ATF and that you buy a licensed and approved OEM ATF.
Fantastic video! Thanks, guys!
Well done.
Very simple and clear instructions
