What has helped me the most to get more original melodies is to learn about all kind of scales. Even obscure and rarely used ones like Dorian#4 or Locrian.
@@MP3RMusic Great choice of instrument. Been learning it too since a few months now. I recommend videos from Shredmasterscott here on TH-cam. He is guitar based but the theory about scales is the same on piano.
@@MP3RMusic yo don't get fooled it's not about being able to play a instrument it's about the rythm of the melody, also ar said the same thing about severman's track the melody rythm was way to generic, and that's what separates garrix and avicii(etc other big artists) from being generic and boring even though they all use kinda same sound. Don't make it complicated just choose a instrument make money chords (1,5,2,4) And then try to give it a rythm, pro tip put your grid on 1/2step so you never go off the beat and also go off the beat if it gives your melody a nice texture. Also putting 7ths and 9th's can make your chords more emotional. Just modify money chords a lil bit then give it a nice rythm, do a good sound selection, mix your track as best as you can give it time, and here you go you have a non generic and your own style track 👣, I hope it helped.
