They had a brief discussion on lichen growth on UnchartedX podcast today, near the end. Normal growth rate is .5 to 1 millimeter per year dependent on the species of lichen. That would make these statues over 2000 yrs old or more.
Those columnar basalt stones are placed beside the king’s throne almost as if the Aztec were displaying those pieces in the same way our culture displays ancient artifacts in a museum.
