Worth mentioning a couple mechanics for Dragon Tail / Tiger Strike. Amplify damage is incredibly strong, if a monster is cursed with amp, hit him with Dragon Tail, and the monsters around him will take more damage even if they're not cursed(Atma's amulet or chance to cast amp weapons are good options). Also, if you are fighting a pack of monsters and there's physical immunes, if you hit Dragon Tail to any non phys immune monster, the phys immune monsters will take full damage aswell.
From some planning on Maxroll, this skill seems to have the highest potential DPS in the game with dual Mosaic claws. Max Tiger Strike and Dragon Tail with infinite level 3 charges makes for absolutely insane damage
Dragon Tail is problematic, as it has to go through two resistances to deal damage. First physical, then fire. Which means it can be stunted pretty severely vs most targets. Small example. 10,000 damage Dragon Tail hits a monster with 50% physical resistance. Now does only 5000 damage, then gets converted to fire. The monster has 75% fire resistance because he is fire enchanted. So now 5000 fire damage becomes 1250. Dragon Tail is a skill that looks good on the surface but has some serious issues.
- Assassin activates Dragon Tail and deals no damage - Assassin: WHY WON'T YOU DIE!? Monster: Immunities son. They react to completely cripple two element builds. You can't hurt me. Assassin: Ok, but I put Fire to that kick! You aren't immune to that! Monster: Bad programming from 2 decades ago, son.
Hm… what about amp damage and conviction combined? Double resistances work both ways. If something is at 50% physical and fire resistance, you will be getting a quarter of your damage out. However, if something is -50% resistant to both, you will get a nice 2.25 times boost for an aoe knockback ability. If the resistances are both at -100%, it should give you a quad damage. If it does actually convert the exact physical damage the monster would receive, than the maximum x4 modifier should apply after even the off-weapon ED. Which means that 100 damage on your boots is boosted by off-weapon ED (let’s say only +200%), then doubled because of -100% physical and then double again because of -100% fire. So, 100+200%=300. 300*2*2=1200. You will still do no damage if something is still immune to physical OR fire after amp damage and conviction, and highly diminished returns even if you break immunities. But everything else should get a healthy amount of fire damage from you. The worst case scenario (which does not seem likely to occur) would be 90% physical and fire resistant monster. After amp damage and lvl 25 conviction the monster will be at -10% physical and -60% fire, that still gives you a 1.6 multiplier to your enhanced damage. With sunder charms and equipment you can get the multiplier even higher. Some assassins would probably want to tag along with some amp necros and salvation pals xD
yes if you could bring down both physical and fire resistance to the negative numbers it would start to work in your advantage. but this is very difficult. One Immunity is all it would take to kill the damage, two would destroy it. but if you were fighting any monster not immune to physical and not immune to fire and you could bring them down to negative resistances it would start to work some magic
@@GGMentor Yeah, it is definitely not for solo play. And even if you get all the stars aligned and gather a perfect team for this particular ability, sometimes it would do no damage to certain enemies. However, it does not seem to have any synergies, so it will be 20 points to max out. Or it can be left at 1 and your equipment will make it serviceable. I see it being applied situationally, while your build is centred around smth else from the same tree. P.S.: I am a casual in D2, so I might be completely off here 😅

But if you blades of ice you'll remove all the physical damage, which means you'll do no damage from the kick and could've just used a normal attack to release the ice damage.

Can this be used with enchant?
Enchant will work with this yes.
What about using tiger strike + dragon tail combo? So the +% dmg from tiger strike will affect the +% fire dmg?
I've used this 20 years ago and it was good. Now with all the better skills effects it should be better
