This is a vast improvement. Releasing all the charges (before) caused players to have to attack either twice for single element skills (when dual claw) or three times for phoenix strike (only hits once even if dual claw) to regain max charges again, now players can use the last charges every other attack round. AoE and crowd control potential is much greater now. Releasing 2 charges in one finishing move increases the single target damage on the single element skills quite a lot (one more instance of the melee damage for fire/lightning/cold and more frequent spell damage just for fire). The only skill that was not buffed was the first charge of phoenix strike, no more damage and no increased frequency of use. The only negative will be Next Hit Delay preventing damage occurring. Certain charges may not stack their spell effects together unless the NHD is removed (e.g releasing Claws of Thunder charge 2 and 3 together, and phoenix strike lightning charge). Patch 2.4 not addressing NHD at all is a pretty major negative imo.
I played for 4 years after D2 first came out. A Martial Arts assassin with Phoenix Strike was one of my primary characters. I'm looking forward to playing it again.
I played WW barb. Would be nice if they would just make it really good. Make it good enough that it's good while leveling, very good when you're in good gear and godly in godly gear.
thx MrLlamaSC for the Video and all the new stuff and how it works with the Assassin. Never played other than Traps but this build sounds really interesting to me and now ill test this after seeing how to use it, thx again :D
Growing up I tried to do martial arts builds but always failed. I tried big two handers with tiger strike to maximize damage because I never really found a claw with high enough damage. I also never thought to combine different kinds of charges; I always used just one kind at a time. Patch 2.4 is looking to bring a lot of fun possibilities for builds.
Thank you, Mr Llama. This was a very friendly video for totally new players but didn't say anything of importance for veterans that read the patch notes 😅 It would be nice to know details like how Phoenix works, how you can use weapons that are not claws with some MA skills, the quirks of the 3rd lightning charge, the utility of different finishers and so on... As a veteran that has not purchased D2R yet I still have so many questions...
The middle row (including Phoenix Strike) doesn't mention the need to use a claw. Can you use non-claw weapons to build those charges? What I am saying is, can you use Rift to build Phoenix Strike charges?
Awesome and I will be playing a martial arts assassin, but I will say I am a bit disappointed that the ice charges (at 3) doesn’t see to actually freeze the enemies like Sorc glacial spike and amazon freezing arrow.

Can anyone explain how does he do that? i cannot find anything in google about it
I would really love to see tiger strike become viable in any sense, I did a lot of testing with it back in the day, the first and biggest failure point with tiger strike is that your best melee weapon a sin can equip still is a Grief, which eliminates her use of claws altogether - This is where I'd love to see some focus for the assassin going forward I would also like to see the damage charged-up on tiger strike apply to the fire damage of dragon tail to give is monster fire damage

People are sleeping on tiger strike / dragon tail. You can keep using the third charge of tiger then tail over and over. Hell, tiger strike alone now is insane. You could do a 95% DS build with a non-claw and keep rotating between burning the last charge of TS with regular attacks. If you stack CB as well the regular attacks will still do chunks on bosses if they hit a CB. TS has insane single target damage and multi potential with dragon tail.
Interesting. So there’s actually a benefit to having multiple kicks at once with the finishing move. I’m assuming the way it worked before was that you’d do the first kick, lose all your charges, and then finish the rest of your kicks as just a normal kick each. Now if you do three kicks, I’m guessing it will use one charge for each and do the 3, then 2, then 1 effects for every charge up move you have with three charges on you. That’s a LOT more extra damage.
My first character is actually an Martial Sin... it was really slow due to i didnt know about Attack rating and i even tried to add early points on str and dex for better damage claws and armor.. i am kinda excited to play this again properly maybe a play along with mrlllama.
I played D2 since LoD released. I have played probably around 200 characters. poison-dagger necro, vulcano-druid. ranger-pala, triple-element sorc... not once have I played a kicksin. I even had a blade-fury sin with like 20 different procs, but I have in my entire D2 "career" not put a single skill point in that Martial arts tree.

@@phucnguyen0110 I play mostly sorcs and fun-builds. Obviously I had a hammerdin and a ww-barb and all "regular" builds, but assassins are just so much fun with traps, every time I start one I can't bring myself to play MA.
Ive only only used Dragon Talon because it's good vs some characters in pvp on a pure trapsin, mainly ele druids if you manage to kill all their pets and chase + telestomp. Better to kick and keep them locked down with kick + your traps rather than spam mindblast or fire bomb. A good ele druid could easily wsg out of mindblast. A fast kick can keep someone locked down in your traps pretty well for 2-3 seconds which is enough time to break through a druids cyclone armor and get some damage in. I still don't know how I'd invest the skill points in this build... because I'd love to have Tiger Strike, Dragon Claw, Fists of Fire, Claws of Thunder, Blades of Ice AND Claw Mastery all max'd (with 1 point wonders in Claw Block, Cloak of Shadows, Burst of Speed, etc)... but that would mean 120 skill points, which is impossible. Would it be worth giving up Fists of Fire, considering a lot of Hell minions are immune to fire? IMO Claw Mastery is a MUST to be max'd.
Not sure why you would max claw mastery. Critical chance and dmg doesn't scale well on that skill and bonus attack rating might not be worth it. With some +skills from gear you will be fine with just 1 point.
@@StirbMensch Only that critical strike at lvl 10 gives you 56% on Ama and 17% on Sin, and lvl 20 gives 68% on Ama and 21 on Sin, so it's not much of a comparison. Rip dragon talon hello Uber smiter... I don't think that they should have nerfed dragon talon the way that they did I think it was a good alternative for fast Ubers that was less safe than smiter but could take them out faster... This is like forcing me to eat vegetables by taking away all of the steak... It always hit ever since the release of resurrected I'm not sure if that was a bug introduced with this version of the game or not but I think it added a new meta for boss killing and gave appeal to the character with something unique almost like an answer to the smiter, I think if it is bad for PvP people could just consider it BM just like grief dual raven frost prayer aura etc but it's almost insulting to people's intelligence to neither acknowledge that it's a bug or act like it hasn't been never missing for months regardless of what the LCS says... In many ways the changes are a buff to other skills but it's definitely a Nerf to dragon talon...if it was an unintentional bug they could have removed it the same time they removed the stuff with the IAS frames and shape shifting
The fact that now finishing moves only consume one charge regardless of the amount of charges you have... is this true for the non resurrected diablo 2 lod 1.14D as well or only resurrected? Works far better on Project Diablo 2, it automatically uses charges as you attack far more competitive than this set up would of liked to see the pd2 method implemented as it’s far superior.
There is so much stuff "going on and managing" with this build that it almost feels like *driving a "manual gear" car.* (Nah fam I'd much rather drive an *"automatic gear"* car aka other *simpler yet much more effective builds* lol)
You can kick once and explode the entire screen with fire lightning and cold damage while regaining life and mana , then charge again once and explode again and yet somehow you've got a problem with fire aura burning the whole screen over the course of a few seconds? Necro summoner also doesn't really do anything, and just let's its skills kill... so don't tell me its because we should have to do stuff to kill either. You've just gotten to the point where you're not used to having anything be actually good so anything new that is good, even if it requires an unrealistic amount of runes to be good, seems OP to you.

Still way too slow compared to anything else, shouldnt be a builder spender type game. Should just be like buffs that stay up all the time so you just need to build once and then you can just use finishers only.

@@TheGreektrojan Try it out! I think the benefits of the Tri-elemental damage outweigh the slightly slower proccs of the Rift.
3:50 in morning what a perfect time :D
Curious how viable this build actually is during ladder start though
As fast as all builds that aren't using teleport
@@jedgurner1 that's good to know because I'm kinda tired of cold sorc and hammerdin for almost 20 years straight. Was looking forward to crappy builds becoming A tier so they're worth playing
Thanks Dude!!
Bc I was totally Lost when it came to anything but a trapsin 😂
All finishing moves hit before now the physical hits. Remember physical damage has never been possible before.
Tbh, three kicks would be very good, cus you spend those all charges in sec
So funny enough the old version of martial arts sins actually plays pretty well in console. Having a lot of success with it , I think with the changes it will be even better but martial arts sin is very viable when using a controller. Doesn’t feel as clunky
thats what i was thinking. never played with controller but in my head this seems op. i ordered a controller now. so hyped on the new patch. tigerstrike and dragon tail kick boom. bruce lee likes it
Rip dragon talon hello Uber smiter...
I was gonna go amazon, but i stand corrected
Liked for the DotA reference
him not using the charges when starting to explain tilted me hard.
awesome hoodie though
The fact that now finishing moves only consume one charge regardless of the amount of charges you have... is this true for the non resurrected diablo 2 lod 1.14D as well or only resurrected? Cause the fact that resurrected does not have LAN makes me not want to buy it.
Kudos for the baby joining your party... "Diablo Minions grow stronger"
i imagine this is a quick cast build...
woah dota reference
Beware and hereof be WISE!
If memory serves, I finished the game with a martial arts assassin first.
The funny Thing about Phoenix Strike ist, that IT can bei used with any Kind of wappon...did any one tried IT Out with a bow? XD realy funny how Buggy this is you cant build Up charches buuut you can finish with IT by using a normal bow Attack, this will consume all charges and will do.....NOTHING. Try IT Out mrlama and PLZ adrass IT XD.
But IT would be sooo funny If it works with bows...hilarious bowasin
Works far better on Project Diablo 2, it automatically uses charges as you attack far more competitive than this set up would of liked to see the pd2 method implemented as it’s far superior.
why dont you show actual gameplay
YOOO; MAKE CRESCENT MOON POSSIBLE IN CLAWS!!!!!!!!!
Definitely would love seeing this for more end game claw options…
There is so much stuff "going on and managing" with this build that it almost feels like *driving a "manual gear" car.*
(Nah fam I'd much rather drive an *"automatic gear"* car aka other *simpler yet much more effective builds* lol)
finally duel claw is viable
Ba ba baby!
I change my sheets(ya well my wife haha)
You can kick once and explode the entire screen with fire lightning and cold damage while regaining life and mana , then charge again once and explode again and yet somehow you've got a problem with fire aura burning the whole screen over the course of a few seconds?
Necro summoner also doesn't really do anything, and just let's its skills kill... so don't tell me its because we should have to do stuff to kill either. You've just gotten to the point where you're not used to having anything be actually good so anything new that is good, even if it requires an unrealistic amount of runes to be good, seems OP to you.
This game has so many cool unique weapons, but an entire class skill tree is locked behind using claws
RainbowSin
still weak
Second!
Game is boring without new content. I've played 20 years on and off on multiple mods but this vanilla with nothing new and just fugly treatment for console players (me) its just useless. Either make more expansions or just let it die or let the modders mod it!
Still way too slow compared to anything else, shouldnt be a builder spender type game. Should just be like buffs that stay up all the time so you just need to build once and then you can just use finishers only.
