The whole video was just awesome. From the northern lights to the wolf and the lynx and giving thanks to God. Very cool🎉 and I love that you have such a colorful Christmasy yard.
Thanks! We sure love it up here, I’m glad you enjoyed a piece of it we are able to share with y’all. Yeah Christmas is great definitely a time to celebrate. God bless and take care

I’m uploading a new video right now but our internet is not that great at uploading so it’ll be a few more hours. God bless. Have a good one
Thanks it’s great when all that hard work pays off. Yeah no problem! if I catch anything in that wolf trap I’ll put the whole setup of that set together in a build and catch kinda video. I was worried it would make this video to long if I put the entire building of that set in there. Have a good day!
Mahsii. I’m almost done with the fourth video on the trap line. I caught 2 more wolves last week so that’ll be in this next video. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! It takes a bit of time on iMovie but it’s worth it. Great first week on the line. I have a feeling this year is going to be a good year for lynx, but high lynx years usually produce low wolverine numbers
@@mountainlifewithdavidkelsie we get a similar thing with our wolves when there are no caribou near us. When caribou are around the wolves just follow them around and leave my wolf sets alone. But so far this winter the caribou have not made it back here, so the wolves should continue to work my sets and bait. What is the average weight of a bobcat?

Thanks! I just got back from checking traps in the blowing snow. I had a few wolves tear into one of my wolverine sets. So I set a few more traps around that area, so I hope to tie one up when they pass though again. Cool good luck out there on the line tomorrow!

Nice fur on both of those! Thanks for taking the time to show how you put the sets in and what the finished set looks like. Good job on the Christmas decorations also 👍
Yeah great fur I was happy with them. Sometimes wolves are hit or miss, they live a rough life and can get their fur damaged in all sorts of ways. I’ll be doing some videos on just building sets in the coming week. Haha yeah those Christmas inflatables ran straight -50 temps and kept on chugging. We’ll be taking them down soon
@@broncoformudv yeah it’s great. I tried buying one from the GoPro website a few weeks ago but it just kept telling me the website was busy. I’ll prolly try again in a week or two. The man ! Absolutely slaying em! Got me ready to make some sets! I hope this year I can get just 1 lynx! I'd freak out if I ever got a wolf! Lol! God bless you and your family brother!
Thanks! Yeah get some beaver castor and hang your rabbit snares with a 8 in loop with the top of the snare at your knee cap. tie some of your chicken feathers together put the castor on them and hang it at the center level of the hanging snare a few feet behind your snare the get a piece for flagging ribbon and hang it high close to your set to call the lynx in. I’ve even used a piece of paper bag with castor on it, tied with a yellow piece of rope a couple feet behind a #4 double long spring trap and caught a couple lynx years ago. But I believe in you! If you can get a beaver to step in your trap you can catch a curious cat. And hanging a bunch of wolf snares ups your chance of catching a wolf for sure. God Bless you and yours as well bro. I’ll film a couple lynx sets this week and put them up as well if that helps👍
Nice man. I'm gonna go bury some wolf gear today, i was checking otter sets yesterday, and I found where they've been crossing the river...so I'll make sure there's steel waiting when they cycle back
Heck yeah get something in there sooner rather then later. The multiple pack families in my area pass back and forth completely randomly and we have loners as well most of them are younger ones but some crazy smart huge males as well. But sorry for the long winded response. Do you use snares or only traps?
Thanks I build these mostly for wolverine but they work well for lynx to. Our lynx population for the past 2 season has been really low, but the rabbits are moving back so lynx will be showing up again. About 6 years ago we caught 50+ in one season and last season I think I caught 3. So one week and 2 down so I’m guessing there’s going to be even more as the temperature warms up in the early spring
@@enigmaticgwichin1630 wow, 50! The last couple years I got around 7, but not a ton of traps out. This year only one. Rabbit tracks are more abundant here this year so I hope lynx are on the rebound as well. Love learning new stuff from your vids.
Some of my snares are 1/8 in 7by7 cable, but most of them are 3/32 1by19. The snare that caught the wolf was a 3/32 1by19. I like that snare better it holds a nice shape. Thanks for watching!
If you file dogs flat on 330s and a 45 angle make fit tight on jaws. The trap will fire when trigger is just past 2nd jaw. No bad catches or animals suffering
Where in Alaska are you. Glad you got a wolf. Idaho is having problem with those. I live in Minnesota and the deer and moose population is going down. MN has tried to have seasons on them but the “ city people “ brings lawsuits against everyone and everything. They are pretty
This is time 4 pee posts. Take a fence size post put it stove charcoal it. 2ft or so long. Sticks out like sore thumb. Put some sheeps wool or piece hide on top. Fox pee or yote pee on post. Snuggle trap jaw right against post. Set right on trail but have backing so come only on trap side
Sounds good! I can definitely try that. When I skin that female next week I can get urine then. I used to have lynx urine but I used it all up. Will that work or should I order urine? Most years I just scoop up urine from the natural pee posts or set my traps under where the wolves piss.
If you or neighbors have dogs take zip lock shovel some pee in bag. Just roll post in it. Even a few dog turds on top. Really pisses um off. If you have enough traps 1 close post other 18 inches back off set a few inches
They don't want anything that eats meat line there territory. Kill lots hound dogs here Montana used 4 treon lions. When you get a chance get u some bridger brawns 9s. Way better a woof trap come up out of Deep snow 9 inch jaw spread lay flat dogless
I have double long springs and coil spring traps. I’ve caught twice as many wolves in the double long springs. They’ve worked great for me. A big wolf can rip the dog and pan off if they have enough time. But most of the time they chew on brush and trees they wrap around. There is enough room under the closed jaws of the double long spring for them to chew off their toes and part of their feet but they don’t do it to often.
That one has a 3/32 snare wire on it. I have some with 1/8 in cable but it seems like the 3/32 kills wolves a lot quicker, so I went back to making snares with the thinner cable. Thanks for watching I’m editing the 3rd video right now. Nothing to exciting but I explain another couple sets.
