    Hello Screen Troopers! Here’s another “best of” tutorial video about the different sizes of screens. Many people ask me when first starting to screen print, what size frame should I use for printing tee shirts? There are many different sizes of screens available out there and the smallest ones are most usually made of wood. Speedball is a common hobby wood screen and they’re available from suppliers like Dick Blick. But for commercial screen printing where we are using a commercial grade bench press or rotary press, we use specific screen sizes. In this educational video I briefly discuss screen size and I provide advice on which screen frame size is best to use with manual screen printing and automatic screen printing. You may think this is a no brainer but many people seem to struggle with this simple yet important question. And I’m here to help out as usual. I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

    Being in Africa I remember leaving my job and people calling me crazy, I lost everything but I believed in my screen printing vision. I watched Catspit videos and read all of Jonathan's articles. I still can't believe it when I get work from some of the biggest brands in my country. I always think Jonathan underestimates the impact of his videos and effort, I've passed information and helped some of my peers successfully set up their own shops and take it as a full time gig. I've trained my employees with no survival skills and empowered them with a tangible career. My first employee lived in a shack with no electricity when I met him and he's the most hard working person I know. I hope to one day do more than I am now and grow them as I grow my business. For all to be possible it was you Boss, thank you for your dent on the world!

    Thanks for the video. Looking into moving away from wood screens to aluminum. Barely bought 2, wasn't really sure what size to get. Luckily I got 20x24. Was thinking of buying smaller ones for small prints but, yea, you made it clear that even for small prints, using 20 x 24 makes it easier to place the artwork on the right spot on the shirt.

    Love your channel! Im seriously thinking of opening a screen printing shop but I worry there are already to many in my town, (Albuquerque, NM) if you Google screen printing about 30 shops pop up of all sizes, any advice? Seems like every business has tons of competition

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Glad you enjoy my videos. There will always be competition. But there is always room for doing good business. Phoenix is a rather large city but we have over 250 known commercial screen printing shops here with physical addresses. Then there are all the others working from home. There's still plenty of print work to go around. Your city may be different since it's not nearly as large. But usually there's always room for someone who does quality work at a fair price with great customer service. Some shops are known for their artwork and charge as they please. But it's the artwork drawing people in. So it's like any other business. You have to set yourself apart in some way. Thanks for watching! Competition exists because someone isn't doing something right, find out what that is and capitalize on it. My main competitive advantage is quick turnaround time

    Do you have a suggestion for getting rid of pallet marks? Thank you.

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do you mean how to clean off stains from a black Sharpie on a pallet? No, I do not. That's another reason why I use pallet tape. I mark the pallet tape instead of the pallets. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

    • @stephaniefricke7679

      @@CatspitProductions I am a catcher at the end of the dryer and we've been dealing with horrible pallet marks left on the shirts. We've tried spray starch and even spritzed with water. Maybe it's just the quality of t-shirts the owner buys. But I want to do the best job possible so I am investigating this.

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stephaniefricke7679 Okay so if you mean they have pallet lines on the pallets that is coming off on the inside of the shirt? Or you mean there is a big flattened surface where the squeegee passed? If it's the latter that could indicate too much pressure on the automatic press. I'm assuming you're on an auto because we usually do not need a dryer catcher when printing manually. If it's the former then you need to change how you're marking your pallets.

      Not exactly sure what you mean but if you're not using a big enough screen, you will have issues with print placement. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
