I broke my wrist right before this game came out so I can't play it right now (can't even hold a controller at the moment) but man I just have to say - your style of walkthrough for this kind of thing is chef's kiss *perfect*. Breaking it down step by step in slow motion with pauses is a fantastic way to explain it all, then running it back in real time is just great. Subscribed.
This is the only level in the entire game that I actually had to exit and come back to due to its difficulty. I tried it again after playing some other levels and literally beat it on the first attempt. I was genuinely shocked. This video randomly popped into my feed after already completing the level, and I feel so dumb for not thinking to throw the duck at that damn frog. I just ran all the way from the beginning of the stage to the end without stopping. It makes the part with the flamethrowers chasing you much harder since touching the goo for even an instant will slow you down enough to get caught by the flamethrowers.

I had to throw the duck about fifteen times to clean away all the oil before I could sprint across. The exact camera angle and the slow-mo play really helped me a lot! tThanks for this awesome video! The rest I kinda trial and errored it, BUT that wall of FIRE was a three day thing! for about thirty minutes a time!
This was really helpful, thank you! The hardest part in my opinion was outrunning the flamethrowers, but I think the rubber duck slightly speeds up the running.
One trick I picked up in the last game; at the very end of your jump, do an attack. You get an extra bit of time in the air. It helped a lot in this level

Thank you for how you slowed down and explained each piece. I was finally able to beat it. Whoever designed this level is diabolical, and whoever greenlit it is an asshole. Was hard enough without the stupid missile shooting frog and extremely fast flamethrowers.
Smashed my face against this level over 30 times. Beat it first try after the trick with throwing multiple ducks before triggering the fast flamethrowers. Thanks for the sanity save lol.
I couldn't get past the rockets and didn't even think to throw the duck (or didn't know I could). I've 100% the first three galaxies and have three of the lost squares to go so this will help massively. Such a great game but damn, some of the levels are pretty hard... for me at least.

Wow. I refused to watch any walkthrough until I completed this on my own. After an HOUR of straight gameplay (and burning myself out to play anymore lol) I finally completed it. I came here to watch someone else do it to see if I just sucked. I did not do ANY of these helpful things lol. I didn’t know you could throw the duck. I had to sneak in under the homing missiles the frog fired at you. I didn’t throw the duck at any of the slime monsters. I just barely made it through that section and killed the pumpkin. Then when the mines attached themselves to me I did the spin attack to remove them WHILE IN THE MADNESS of the lava monsters. Talk about making things harder on myself….
That first enemy was annoying until realising you can throw the duck. I found going back when the little enemies attach can be useful, as long as you leave a bit of the breakable platform. Still need to finish the last part now.

i managed to figure out and complete this whole game by myself, but for this single level. had no idea I was supposed to throw the duck at the frog. I tried everything I could to outrun the missiles but without having more water and the floor disappearing there was no way thanks for the video (btw you might want to lower the audio on slowed down video as that sound is grating)
this game sometimes... i cleared trough that frog without throwing the duck on my first try but died later on and since then I wasn't freaking able to get trough him again...had to search for a guide like this to get the idea of throwing the damn duck haha
If anyone is still attempting this today, I found it easier to go to the left after getting the 2nd duck. That way you only have to worry about one fire stream
When I first dealt with this level I said “FK IT”. Then proceeded with the rest of the game,took me FOUR DAYS to beat “Great Master Challenge” and then came back to this one for the Platinum. I was scared to even begin playing it. I watched all tutorials and entered the level. But I became SO good beating GMC that I did it WITH THE FIRST TRY and WITHOUT THE HACK 😂😂😂 So,thanks for this video.
Never once thought to throw the duck at the missile toad......fml. However one extra tip. Charge your spin attack before you jump to the platform with the little guys that attach to you, that way you can spin them off as soon as they grab on and you dont have to try and race to the end
I got caught out a few times on this level, but never by the chasing flame throwers. I didn’t even realise it was a thing people struggled with until seeing other videos. I just grabbed the duck and ran through to the gooey bastard at the end every time. I’ve got no idea why this guy takes so long with the set up to this part.
Veteran gamer here but my god this level design sucked so bad. Too many random physics and god forbid should you touch one pixel of lava or flame 🙄 There’s another one which is just as dumb in the same galaxy. The vertical one with the running on the walls sucks too. Not as hard but very thin margin of error with the electric boards.
Honestly once you realize you can throw the duck its not too bad. Took me about 15 attempts. I agree so far for me at least its definitely one of the hardest so far.
The design overall is great, this one is bad because throwing the duck isn’t intuitively obvious. The rest are supposed to be challenging levels which you learn via muscle memory. Failing them is expected, and if you’re not good at platformers you will fail a lot. But the design is great.

This is the second hardest level in the whole game, only the master level is worse. Took me a while to get past them (didn't use any guides). I did it without throwing the ducks though, I tried it a few times but I found that if you move as quickly as possible, you could outrun the missiles and flamethrowers. When I threw the ducks it slowed me down and I was more likely to get hit for some reason.
yeah i've spent over an hour on this one level and gave up lmao, switched to Spider-Man 2. I'll try again tomorrow now that I've watched this. The flamethrowers after the pumpkin guy just wreck me, level seems more unfair than challenging atm.

Tip. After you clear a path on the oil path. Run in a circle to build up some momentum before you run. Helped a lot.

One of the worst, most frustrating, unnecessarily difficult levels I’ve ever played in a platformer, and at the age of 41, I’ve played a lot of them.
Crash Bandicoot 1 2 3 were hardcore too… to get the 101, 102 and 103 percent was harder than Astro Bot to be honest.

@glovedcop69 No, makes no difference. The black stuff, using the laser and not getting a run up are all speed losses, the camera doesn’t affect it.

When you get to the flame jets turn your view to the side, and you won't have any problems outrunning them.

It is possible, you kinda have to bait him into firing the missiles to the left and then run to the right, but it’s not very reliable.

The momentum loss when you get hit by the flame spitters was absolutely killing me

You can boost your speed by running in a little circle before you try to outrun the flamethrowers, once I found that out I beat the level.

After completing the final one Splashing Sprint wasn't too bad. Hard as hell but this was shorter and easier IMO.
Imagine playing a speedrun level and stand still to clean it with the duck!
