    IAFF - from the '70s.
I've replaced all my cookware with cast iron over the past three years - including the bundt pan. My cast iron aebleskiver pan is over 100 years old and works perfectly - got it from grandma and she got it as a wedding gift. The older pans are smooth, and the newer ones are rough - so the manufacturers can spray a coating on it during manufacturing. The older ones are better (smoother).

Nice to know you! I'm sure you have some stories of what it was like.
I've cooked a lot in that dutch oven and have built a pretty nice seasoning layer on it, but I'll absolutely agree that the older pans are better than the newer ones. I recently went out to some thrift stores and bought some old vintage cast iron - from Wagner to Lodge (I really would like an old Griswold). I restored them and stripped them down to bare iron, and they're nearly as smooth as glass (still working at it). I like that they last forever if taken care of, and can be passed down to generations much like your grandma's aebleskiver pan. Thanks for the comment and for watching the video!

The newer cast iron, I sand and polish smooth, then they work just as well as the old ones.

I have been thinking about getting into cast iron too. I was thinking about a skillet. I found a few tasty recipes for the grill believe it or not. Can't wait to see what you make on the wood burning stove! Love the snow in the background!!!

Please get an overhead camera for your unboxings so we can see what it looks like on the inside. Very exciting and what a lovely cocotte. Thanks for the video.

You're going to love your Smithey. They're like cast iron Crack, so habit forming. Enjoy.

Oh it is fantastic so far and I already do! The seasoning has been a breeze and for the most part the pot is very non stick already. Just need to add some pans to the collection now. Thanks so much for watching and for subscribing!

Crazy. Not worth it in my opinion. You can easily find a vintage pan or dutch oven at a thrift store, clean it up, and it's as good as new.
