diablo 1 is the best diablo imo, diablo 2 was hella fun no doubt and had more classes and better pvp etc. but diablo 1 art and sound design and general aesthetics was god tier, the most atmospheric game ever...well top 3.
Agree with that. While Diablo 2 was overall better in gaming mechanism Diablo 1 still has the best grim & gloomy atomsphere. Also the gore was better. Compare killing goatmen and zombies between Diablo 1 and 2, Diablo 1 is way more fun there. I don´t understand why this was tuned in Diablo 2, it is still a mature game.

Alex Silver have any of you played the diablo 1 mod belzebub? I just started playing it a couple days ago, it is free and it adds 2-3 new classes, makes the game full HD 60 fps, has none of the colour issues you can get, adds a bunch cut content that never made it into the initial release, adds a bunch of new monster types, champion pacts, new items, crafting, unlocks nightmare/hell/torment difficulties in single player, adds new items, new unique items, adds set items, loads of new spells and a bunch of other stuff. It also makes the game way harder, as a result so with the new single player difficulties it is taking me a long time to finish it.

What I also like is that you can now have all quests in the game - I always disliked the fact that you cannot have every quest of a group in the game, so that sometimes iconic quests like the Butcher or the Skeleton King are missing there.
Well, but that was when I referred to groups of quests. Nevermind. I haven´t tested it yet, the pile of games that I want to play(regardless of re-playing classics with or without mods and new stuff) is rather big. Well, is there really no way to save the game? That sounds strange. They can´t expect the player to go through the whole game in one session. Maybe it works now like in Diablo 2, where the game is saved when exiting it and starts in the town you were before.
Damn. That doesn´t sound good. And the quests are reset as well? If that is the case the mod is really broken. Well, it seems they added a lot of stuff that was meant to be in the game that seems to be hidden somewhere in the game data, but hasn´t made it in the final game for some reasons. Maybe because it wasn´t that good or because it was broken. Seems they wanted the game to be like Diablo 2 with respawning monsters, but it is not fit for that as it was never designed for this.
This looks nice. Maybe I will give _Diablo 1_ a try, never played it (shamefully). It looks really grimdark and seems to be very atmospheric. That's nice. Though I really like _Diablo 2_'s gritty artstyle, it fits the game really well.
Nice mod, there is several things to fix, but its nice - and its add something new mini bosses.. and high resolution with scrolling camera. I hope somehow its became multiplayer with eu or na servers..

Alberto Blaze Maybe in your older version it is automatic. Anyways I found out how to do it. In the newer versions you automatically start windowed mode. After you create a character you hit esc and go to video settings hit fullscreen ON and apply. This is for 1042 and 1045 versions(the 2 latest versions up on the site).

So many mods and patches and fan updates but nobody have added a stack feature/mechanism? Watching this and the only annoying thing I can see is the hording of mana potions, why not have 1 slot that can stack 99 bottles, would solve all inventory space problems, and modern games now have this like Grim Dawn etc shouldn't be too big of an issue to fix. It's sad because that's literally the only feature in diablo 1 that is lacking, I like everything else about it. Make economy it's own slot, and stackable potions would make this gem of a game perfect.

there's an archive over internet with already working game (D1 + Hellfire) that needs no installation - just unpack and play. This version can use HD mod and no need to use CDROM. google it :)

pankero1 Read the "Readme" file that comes with the mod's download. You will see that they say you need OpenGL 3.0 at least to run it. OpenGL is a graphic acelerator alghoritm (Im not an expert, thats what i understood from google research). Not every processor has it. New processor should have it, though. I Tried it in a computer, and I had this same problem. Then I tried on my notebook and it worked fine. Try in a newer computer, it should work.
wow, so people have issues to run it without OpenGL. never had this issue because I'm running it on Linux under wine wrapper (and Linux have OpenGL as a system base). btw if anyone tried to run Classic Diablo 1 on Linux and had issues with black screen on game menus - this mod fixes it and you can run your game just fine under wine.
As you discuss friend, this mod automatically saves your progress no matter if you enter or leave the game automatically makes it, but if you have problems visit the page of the mod there surely will help you better
I had this problem as well and discovered the cause: In recent versions of Windows, applications must be run as administrator in order to write to files within the Program Files folders on the system drive. You should try going into the properties for Belzebub.exe and setting it to always be run as administrator. From then on, saving should work automatically.

Ajani Azhureus Goldmane Thanks for the advice unfortunately i tried what you suggested but i couldnt fix the problem, what i decided to do is to install the normal diablo game with the mod shown in this video and now runs perfectly. The problem is pretty much what you said about the old graphics according to internet, but with this mode you dont miss anything from hellfire.
YO NEE open notepad and type the following: @echo off taskkill /f /im explorer.exe diablo.exe pause start explorer.exe exit Then save the file as "diablo.bat" where you have the game installed and edit the shortcut properties and change the destination from "diablo.exe" to "diablo.bat" For hellfire, just do the same, but exchange diablo.exe to hellfire.exe and put the bat in the hellfire folder. This should fix it

You get more belt space the better the belt you equip. I think it's based off item level, like sash is a really low item level belt, heavy belt plate belt etc have higher item level and more slots.

You have something fucked up going on with your rig, I just passed diablo on normal difficulty. It crashed only 3 times (which is good comparing to other old games) even tho game has autosave it never losd my save files.

lvl 2 in his old roon u need cast the town portal quest and then a red portal take u this this big room where he is

Try to open "screen resolution" window, don't close this window and start the game. Also it must work with other old games with same problem.

Garbage mod that when it crashes kills your save because they removed manual saves and then fucked up the autosave.
You have something fucked up going on with your rig, I just passed diablo on normal difficulty. It crashed only 3 times (which is good comparing to other old games) even tho game has autosave it never losd my save files.
meh id rather play d2 annihlous priv server than this or median xlv ultmative
