    I have been working with bandsaws for 50+ years. Most are large ( 144 inches, 365.76 cm), and have a lot of spring load when you unfurl them. It becomes juggling with razor blades. WEAR LEATHER GLOVES while twisting closed for storage, or, untwisting for installing. Sean is skillful with handling these steel serpents, however, chicks DO NOT dig scabs or mutilated hands touching them. P.S. GREAT demonstration Sean, very useful instruction, which I have come to expect from you my friend! Cheers...

    Hi Sean, I see you’ve invested in a top of the range bandsaw recently. Im currently contemplating buying this model for my small workshop and wondered if you had a good experience with the machine and quality of cuts etc. I really value your opinion and love watching your channel. You have a great future ahead of you, keep up the great work. PS: I purchased a Slogberg as a result of your previous video, some time ago now :0)

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gary, thank you so much! Yes I definitely recommend the machine, you definitely won't regret the purchase. I used that model before I got it myself, so I knew it would handle a lot of abuse and continue to perform well! Only advice I have is make sure your blade is sharp, because the bandsaw is built well with a good fence and bearing guides... so the only reason the bandsaw wouldn't perform well is because the blade is dull then it would wonder. Thrilled to hear you got a Sjobergs bench! Such a beefy table! Also without sounding cheeky, if you do decide to take the plunge could you use my affiliate link? 😂😂 let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Sean just received identical bandsaw from Axminster all set up fine. Big problem it will not cut, as I push the wood (50mm high MDF for test) the blade stalls and I can hear the motor really struggling to the point it will stop. Waiting to hear back from tech support any ideas thanks?? Really frustrating first bandsaw.

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, it’s difficult to say without seeing your bandsaw, if it’s all set up right then there will be an issue with the motor, hopefully the tech support will solve the issue, if not Axminster will replace the bandsaw.

    • @paulsutton5959
      @paulsutton5959 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sean thanks for your swift reply. I turned the saw on this morning to have another look at it. The blade didn’t run, led me straight to the motor only to see the drive belt was loose. The Allen bolt to lock and adjust were loose. Tensioned the belt locked it all up now seems ok. Didn’t even think to look here.
      Thanks Paul

    I am thinking about buying this bandsaw ,How is it what's the highest resaw you have done with it, can you resaw at max high without problems ? Does it have the power .I went for a makita bandsaw and that was really bad and build quality was not very good so I returned, So now i am racking my brain and looking for a new bandsaw, but want one thats going to last for many many years .Was also looking at the record power SABRE-350 14 but I have a small workshop . Yet this one looks well made and very good Quality so it's all comes down to power . I see it as just one Horsepower motor ,This is the confusion with me power Hose power do you really need it ?

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate. This bandsaw isn’t really for max resawing. It’s a standard 240v three pin plug. It’s very well made, you can cut thick bowl blanks but I don’t think it good for cutting tall veneers

    • @Mastering3d
      @Mastering3d 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeanEvelegh Thanks for your reply ,I just ordered it anyway just love the fact of the bearing setup and the tall fence plus I can't wait two months for record power to get the SABRE-350 in stock, so i should be taking delivery of this one tomorrow .I am looking forwards to it coming at least i Know it's going to be a 1000 times better then the makita lb1200f ,Plus I ordered the five pack of blades .And there is a local Axminster store near me in Sittingbourne so any problems i can pop there .I was trying out is axminster tools made in the UK does anyone know ?

    If the teeth are on the bearings, it will ruin the blade by removing the set, not by "dulling" the blade. The blade will cease being a blade and become a knife and then it will follow the grain instead of cutting through it. Very good video.

    Did the phrase "anti-clockwise" set anyone else's teeth on edge?

  • @joschmoyo4532

    As set up instructions go your about eighty percent correct but not 100. Far to many do not adjust the guides properly and you CAN overtension a blade. Your advice on adjusting the rear guides in particular is only partially correct and will not ensure both guides take the cutting load evenly. All to often this leads to burning the face of the lower or upper guide and twisting the blade in the cut.
    The other thing everyone neglects to mention is feed speed regulation. Feeding to fast clogs the gullets and heat build up causes premature dulling of the teeth. The exact position for tracking depends on how much crowning their is on the wheel rubber and the width of the blade.
    Solid blade guides of brass work far better than ball bearings. Blade slap and vibration is the kiss of death to smooth cutting and blade life.
    I was taught the basics of bandsaw set up the same as you at the London College of Furniture but it took 35 years in the trade to learn all the real tricks. Far to many bandsaws are inferior in quality and alignment. If the blades aren't welded accurately they will not track properly. If there is not enough crown in the wheel's same problem.
