  • With cool rain, low air temperatures, and slightly higher water, I finally decided to make a fishing trip to the Crown Jewel of the Pocono's - Brodhead Creek. While fishing the upper reaches, I managed 5 or so Wild Brown Trout up to 8 or 9 inches (missing some 16in. + big ones in the process). Next, I transitioned to the lower reached closer to where it dumps into the Delaware River. Expecting mostly Smallies, I did manage to catch 4 or so more Wild Brown Trout up to 10 inches. I even saw a small Schoolie Striped Bass if you can believe it. Quite an adventure on this historically significant stream, will definitely return.

Hey man love your videos, I’m from the Lehigh valley and fish the exact same way you do. Going to definitely take a trip up to poconos to see this creek. If you ever want to hit some cool spots my way let me know I got a couple spots no one knows on the Hokendauqua creek which runs through my home town of Northampton, right outside of Allentown and bethlehem if you heard of those bigger towns. The Hokendauqua runs off the Lehigh river which I’m sure you heard and fished that already. Great videos man hope to see you out there one day, I’ll be the fat guy with a cigar! Hahahha

In the Fall Big Brownies come up the Brodhead from the Delaware to spawn if you catch the run its amazing! Use big spinners or Rapala plugs.

they dont stock browns in there anymore. all the browns in there are wild or browns that were born in the creek from stockies years ago

@@ronanteel8345 They do stock browns in there. It usually gets stocked with browns and rainbows. I live 2 min from broadhead and fish it all the time all year long. There is a good population of wild browns and stocked browns that hold over and turn wild.

Section has stripers now which sucks for the trout population. They will destroy the canyon eventually.

You should have taken one of those 9 inch browns, stuck a hook through its back, and let it swim back through the Papermill pool. Stripers up to 15 pounds patrol that pool, caught a muskie there 5 years ago, even caught a flathead out of there this past June on a livelined trout. Then you'd see how undergunned you were. It's funny the guys in the papermill didn't come down and offer you coffee, they can tell you some stories of fish they see (but officially, if you'd would have just walked up the bank, you'd have seen the little metal no trespassing signs everywhere on the papermill side). Awesome job as always...next time, find the public water upstream on rt.447 or even on the Paradise on 191, then you'll have your 20+ trout days with a 20" mixed in

I just may try that someday, it was a MONSTER hole and with its proximity to the un-dammed Delaware, anything's possible.

@@TravelingTroutCo There is a huge hole where the Brodhead enters the Delaware by the old railroad trestle.

Wet your hand before you handle the fish, you don’t want to destroy the film around the fish’s body that protect them from parasites!!! Novice!!
