Great video. When greasing the outside bearing, does grease actually go directly into the bearing or is it filling the axle housing first then forcing grease into the bearing? Thanks Jon

Kind of both. I grease a bit than spin axle housing grease a little more.
A good layer of grease at assembly goes a long way.

I will work on it. I haven't been because these are customers' equipment, and I don't want them thinking I am wasting their time.

Keep up the channel please. Love the content it helps me a ehole lot with my 4230 because jd wants over a hunded bucks an hour to do anything plus i have to tske it there. Can't aford that kind of stuff. Have to do things for yourself unless your made out of money and thats far from being me. Thanks for all the tips and knowledge.

We usually used an old load depth shaft to drive those bearing cups out of the axle housing, with the notch on the end of the shaft laying across the cup just a few hits and its out. Good video keep up the good work.

Recently discovered your site. You make fantastic repair videos. In this video, you are removing an inner race with a slide hammer, and it works. A good trick; run a weld bead around the inside of the race. The weld draws the race inwards, and it will fall out. Especially with old eyes, you have to be careful to weld the race and don't weld the race to the housing. On thin races, be careful to not weld to hot in the middle. It will stick the back side of the race to the housing. On thin races hold to the thicker edge. It doesn't take much weld for this to work. I will sort of introduce myself later.

      Welcome!
Nice tip! Yep that is what I was welding here!
Funny story is I did weld a thun race that I did not expect to be thin. Welded it solid to the cast housing

I think the hardest part of rebuilding something like this is setting all the tolerances correctly. Sometimes I think the service manuals are not as thorough as they should be so it's great to see you work and have a few of these things explained. Thanks for the videos!

In your head it should be by lunchtime I'll have this transmission together. In reality it's late in the evening
