The day Delta won me for live: I was flying BOS to LGA. I got to skyclub super early to get some work done. Check in said a storm was coming and my flight might get delayed - do I want to leave early? My flight was hours away and I would have been perfectly happy doing some work and chowing down so I opted to do just that. As time passed, my flight was going to be delayed by 20 mins. Then an hour. Kept looking bad. I told the desk people to get me out early. They somehow couldn't get me into a first class seat on an earlier flight, even though I was booked in first. However, I was able to do it on the app with 2 clicks. I got home EARLY. If I stayed, I'd have been delayed 2-3 hours. LOVE This kind of proactive service and redundancy plans.
I just prefer Delta, in the morning, because their service is just more consistent from one type of equipment or route to another, even with box meal situation which I hope like the flight attendant said hopes ends soon. The whole crew just seems more upbeat with Delta than AA. My credit card give me the perks that you mentioned missing just as side bar comment. The card will do either AA or Delta, my decision. Enjoyed you video as always.
I’m flying on AA Friday, Richmond to Tucson, through DFW. Eight weeks ago I had my hip replaced and didn’t want to have any issues. I hope I’m not disappointed with spending the extra money. This video gave me an inside look and that makes me less nervous.
Great episode. Living overseas, it’s so easy getting spoiled by how much more you get from carriers like KAL, ANA, TK, and Singapore, even on short hauls of a few hours. However, being from the south, Delta has the biggest presence and I usually book them by default whenever I’m stateside.
Right!! And if you time it right, you get "there" in the morning. You're already rested from napping in-flight, and have the whole day to explore your new area. For dom flights, 500% mornings if possible.
Perfect timing with this video Jeb! I've got AA F booked on an A321 in March. Why don't US airlines allow lounge access for domestic flights btw? For me, lounge access is one of the biggest perks as I like to arrive at the airport early and relax. BTW I'm assuming you are allowed into the lounges if you hold airline status, though?
Home airport is SLC, so always book Delta and that's regardless of cost. And, as a leisure traveler who has earned status on Delta over the years I have to stick with them for the benefits. 😀
Completely agree with you both. There’s a certain level of customer expectation that comes when attaining Platinum or Diamond Medallion status and I’ve never been disappointed with Delta. My home airport is GEG but I ALWAYS plan my flights to connect through SLC if possible.
My home airport is also SLC (for now) but I make the forced March to the B gates for American or Alaska unless the price difference is too high. Last year I got a first class ticket to DFW on Delta for about half the cost of American.
Their FF program actually sucks. They got you hooked on the "regardless of cost". Just the kind of passenger an airline loves. But it makes sense you go with the hub carrier if you're a frequent traveler.
Same here, home airport is MSP, they control a crazy amount of the market share here. Usually have the lowest prices and nonstop to my preferred destinations. Nearly always since they merged with Northwest like 15 years ago the service has always been good. No reason to switch, but kinda still in a bind because they are the most convienent to me
I like the morning flights a lot more than the afternoon ones, cause you get to your destination earlier in the day. Besides, it’s fun for me to get up @ around 3:30 or something, in terms of aviation.
Have just experienced Delta first class from LAX-HNL and the reverse and both morning flights. both of them were great!! It was my first time on US first class as an Aussie and I enjoyed it.
I agree with Suzanne that united would have easily won. Especially with their 737 Mac series. They have better legroom, lounge access, larger IFE with more options and Bluetooth
Home airport is ATL, and almost a half million skymiles, aside from a few other things, Delta is my preference over American. That said, I do miss the days of Continental, before the United merger. Gotta give credit to Gordon Bethune for his management during those days.
I’m a Brit and always thought all US airlines really suck. That was until we got stranded by Norwegian and managed to get out of Newark to London on United in Premium Economy. It was a new plane and a totally enjoyable experience! I stand corrected!!
Hi Jeb! My name is Sergio and i'm writing you from Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. In my honest opinion i do think that day flights are better than those at night or red eye's. I always feel a bit lagged after a night flight no matter the rest time after. Keep on going. I love your channel.
I have been consistently flying with Delta, especially first class. Honestly, Delta is the better choice as there is nice food, nice entertainment and friendly staff. I've never flown AA first class, but it is still pretty bad as there is no screen, and the wifi is terrible.
I agree that United generally has the best domestic first class. We use AmEx Centurion lounges or Priority Pass so not having access to airline lounges on domestic flights is no big deal.
As a DM on Delta, they need to improve their FC meal offerings. The boxed meals don't even compare to anything decent, especially not at first class prices. Other than that, I have great service on Delta
I personally enjoy morning, red eye flights. For how much trouble it is for me to roll out of bed, I love seeing the sun rise at IAD. Absolutely stunning.
When flying round trip, I love to do an early morning flight to wherever I am going. Going back, I prefer to take a afternoon flight that gets me In at night time
Hey Jeb I gotta tell you, I’ve had Covid for the last few days and I’ve been binge watching your videos to help me relax. Thanks for the awesome videos!
I'm going with Delta, Jeb. The biggest reason? It's a people oriented airline. Their main concern (even in Economy) is the comfort of the passengers, not "how many seats can I squeeze in so I can make more profit?" (I'm looking at YOU, American!) Because Delta is so focused on people before profit, they end up getting more profit. And their service just can't be beat. After 3 years of being grounded due to illness/surgeries, I'm looking forward to climb aboard Delta to head to JFK, and from there, flying Delta partner Virgin to Manchester, for the summer! See you in the skies, Jeb!
I flew Delta first class in April of this year and the meal was not boxed. It was in dishes just like American. It was like dining at a fine restaurant. This was a JFK to MCO flight! 2 1/2 hours with a full meal, drinks and a snack! Way to go Delta.
Good comparison! I might be biased, as my nearest airport is DTW, and I am a Platinum Medallion - but I did live in Philly for quite some time, so I've had AA as the de-facto choice, too. With my overall experiences weighed out, I'd stick with Delta at the moment for the service and connectivity. I have done so for the last few years when traveling DTW>PHL.
I used to fly on Delta a lot, in fact, all the time. But I've since moved to Doha, got hub locked to Qatar, and American's loyalty program is just better. Better redemptions, better perks, just overall better. So I fly, booking via American, on Qatar Airways. Hate to fly on American metal though... Will be on an E175 next month and maybe an A319..
I’d say Delta would be my preference, having flown with both Delta and American now, I really prefer Delta’s IFE system with a built in screen, nicely priced wifi access and a cooler looking interior! Anyways I’m always happy to fly with airline in any aircraft! Looked like fun Cheers🥂 -Caleb
Seatback screens are a must have for me. I just flew on my first United Express flight a week ago and not having a seatback screen or even Wifi to stream to a device makes the flight feel less premium. I also don't travel with a tablet, so I would have to stream to my phone, which isn't as big of a screen as the seatback screens.
United had glassware on my Christmas flight, so I am with Suzanne on this one. Delta had glassware on my midsummer 2021 flight but I find it to be inconsistent. But, I love Delta and I have the platinum card to access the lounge.
Delta girl through and through. I don't hesitate to pay a little extra to fly with them vs any competitor. Honestly don't even know if I'm paying more because I haven't compared prices in years. Straight to the Delta app anytime I'm booking travel
Hey Jeb , love the vids, I was wondering what are your thoughts on the difference between US and European and Asian first class offerings, it seems a huge gap to me, I have always wanted to fly first class sometime and after enduring cancer treatment I shall, but I find the difference quite baffling
I've never taken a first class flight so I was expecting it to be so much better than coach, especially considering the price difference. I'm sorry to say that I'm definitely not impressed. Besides a couple of electrical enhancements and better customer service, there's almost no difference whatsoever. In fact, even in coach, you usually get a seat back video monitor.
It’s interesting because I just flew American Airlines and sat in “business class” and the seats looked exactly like the ones in the video that you said were “first class.” The actual first class seats on my airplane were a lot bigger and more luxurious. Also we had screens on the back of our seats and could enjoy a variety of movies. Snacks were also very tasty. I think I’ll stay with AA.
I remember my first time, and as of now my only time, in first class and it was on Delta. My mom unexpectedly got an offer to upgrade our seats for around $90-$100 each, and she decided to pay for it. She was expecting it to just be bigger seats and free service, but we had these pods or capsules that I’d say was spacious. Unfortunately, I was young and this was almost 5 years ago, so I don’t remember the technicalities and what the food was like, but with first class seats from airlines in America, I might not get that experience again. At least for a while
I've found 1st class was inconsistent even before Covid, and even more now. I've been on back to back flights with AA where I got real glass and mixed drinks with a snack service and the next flight I was handed my captain, coke and plastic cup of ice and the snacks were on request. The 2nd flight was also the longer flight of the 2.
The best first class in when you get upgraded from steerage. I think that is more likely to happen from a smaller station than from a large hub. When I was checking in at US Airways in Greensboro NC years ago, the agent said I had a long flight today since I was going all the way to Sydney via Charlotte and Los Angeles. I replied that I was going to Sydney to watch my wife compete on one of the U.S. teams at the Sydney Games. He asked for my boarding passes and tore them up, printing up new ones and stamping them 'First Class'. It was really appreciated.
I like departing late afternoon and landing at night or vice versa That way you see planes on ground and the city light views that you would only get at night
My preference is for early flights due to less delays and sometimes fewer people in the airport. But surprisingly red-eye flights are great! I’ve always slept quite well on planes and if it’s a work trip I arrive well rested. In Feb of 2020 I flew one of the last Delta 777’s from LAX to Sydney for work… red eye. Fell asleep on departure and woke up an hour before arrival. The FC attendant in my row saved my food for me and joked that he thought I had died. Just dead tired. 😂😂
Switching to Delta. I go with AA, as my upgrades seem to always clear, and price is better. With the new AA qualifiers, it will be easier to earn status on Delta. While pre pandemic, AA first class had better meals & alcoholic beverages, along with a better blanket, Delta just feels much more premium. Its that seat back IFE for me. Delta Lounges are also vastly superior to AA's.
2:46 I like night time departures because i can see the views of the city lights of which my airline departed in, and it just looks more cooler in the night time!
I ride delta frequently on summer but when it comes to take off time and landing time I would say morning departures and sun set arrivals because they always look beautiful
I like flying mid morning and later on Delta because I get off On being delayed by crew changes, weather delays, moving from gate to gate, arriving late to my mid destination, missing my connection and arrival at home past midnight when I was supposed to be home for dinner. It make getting up for work the next day sooo easy.
Excellent service these days is gone with the wind. I'm a retired flight attendant with Continental Airlines (35 years, 1970-2005). Back in the 1970's, on select domestic flights -- in coach -- I can remember how we placed fresh linens on each tray table, and our food was served on china, with entrees such as lobster thermidor, filet mignon, etc. I once flew non-rev on Delta in 1973 (Atlanta to Los Angeles) and Delta's coach service was similar to ours, too. Back in those days, coach service was SUPERIOR to today's first class. Sad to see how everyone's gone downhill.
I've flown American a few times and haven't had any issues with them. However, Delta is my favorite by far. Their service is always top tier and having a setback screen is a huge plus. To answer the time-of-day travel question; I prefer to fly in the afternoon. Usually there's considerably less crowds than in the morning from my experience.
I am about to fly first class for the first time, which will be on Delta from ATL to HNL connecting in SLC. I like your Jeb Score system, and I hope my experience will be a great one. Thank you so much for your excellent and helpful videos!

Delta for me. Great pricing, good upgrade policy. FC is pretty comfy. Transcon routes with D1 service. And way less painful ways of lounge access. Those things will always win out. I am also a bit salty at AA, since they were first big carrier who started charging for bags.

This video is two years old, but it was still very helpful. I hope to fly to the east coast later this year and will be flying Delta First Class.
2:41 for domestic flights I prefer to takeoff as early as possible to minimize delays. For international flights I prefer to takeoff in the evening.
Right!! And if you time it right, you get "there" in the morning. You're already rested from napping in-flight, and have the whole day to explore your new area.
For dom flights, 500% mornings if possible.
night flights are the most aesthetically pleasing for sure
Delta' s early morning flights with no delays guarantee more on time arrivals for your destination.
Same here. Never going back!
Along with generally fewer people at the airport in the morning too
Have just experienced Delta first class from
LAX-HNL and the reverse and both morning flights. both of them were great!! It was my first time on US first class as an Aussie and I enjoyed it.
Delta
I agree with Suzanne that united would have easily won. Especially with their 737 Mac series. They have better legroom, lounge access, larger IFE with more options and Bluetooth
What about food on UA?
@@danielclooney6248 there would’ve been a meal and I am a huge fan of united catering along with obviously the free food in the club lounge
I had very tasty food on United in domestic first, served on real dinnerware, drinks in glass, etc.
Cheers! I prefer United myself.
Your experience is much different than what I've experienced. Delta is by far the better of the 2. Will always choose Delta over American.
As a DM on Delta, they need to improve their FC meal offerings. The boxed meals don't even compare to anything decent, especially not at first class prices. Other than that, I have great service on Delta
Delta has resumed their regular first class oven meals now. 1000% times better than the boxed meals! They only did those during covid
@@jomr4249 yes, I agree. I just had breakfast on my flight yesterday, and it was back to pre-covid.
I personally enjoy morning, red eye flights. For how much trouble it is for me to roll out of bed, I love seeing the sun rise at IAD. Absolutely stunning.
When flying round trip, I love to do an early morning flight to wherever I am going. Going back, I prefer to take a afternoon flight that gets me In at night time
Delta! Love that southern hospitality
1:12 Wow that’s really creative!
Hey Jeb I gotta tell you, I’ve had Covid for the last few days and I’ve been binge watching your videos to help me relax. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Hope you feel better soon!
I have done so for the last few years when traveling DTW>PHL.
my fav is taking off at 4pm or so and landing at night, for int flights 4pm - 8am
I like morning! I am actually flying Delta first class tomorrow morning! I am glad to have come across this thank you!
Cool video. But I think it would be great if you could also do an economy and/or MCE/C+ comparison!
I love morning flights for same reason Jeb. Less delays and you still have most of the day to enjoy on your travel day.
I'm here for Delta
Once we're out of the pandemic I'm sure Delta can surpass United too
night departure, morning arrivals oversea flights are my favorites, goood content like always Jeb!
I’d say Delta would be my preference, having flown with both Delta and American now, I really prefer Delta’s IFE system with a built in screen, nicely priced wifi access and a cooler looking interior!
Anyways I’m always happy to fly with airline in any aircraft!
Looked like fun
Cheers🥂

Personal tablets are ubiquitous, so a built-in screen is not a valid reason to choose one airline over another.
@@andynonimuss6298 That’s true I guess… 😊
I've flown both airlines, domestically and internationally, and Delta is the clear winner IMO. I avoid Untied at all costs.
First class flights on airlines from outside the country are more what you're imagining. I'm perplexed why ours are so boring.
American actually removed the IFE’s for budget cuts. That and the insanely expensive Wi-Fi, delta’s the clear winner
I remember when you first did this. And delta won
I like departing late afternoon and landing at night or vice versa
That way you see planes on ground and the city light views that you would only get at night
Delta is just a better company
I LOVE Jeb! He’s so HAPPY! I love it! Keep being you!
If ya can get in and out of EWR as soon as possible the better
I just flew delta first class last week and they don’t do plastic glasses anymore. I think this is very nice!
Delta is just classier.
The mx issue is something to take into account, AA is bad about delays out if dfw, you can check out their delay numbers to see that
Having to pay for WiFi in First class is nonsense 🙄
I like the morning departures, because it satisfying when you rise up and then look at the sunrise
2:46 I like night time departures because i can see the views of the city lights of which my airline departed in, and it just looks more cooler in the night time!
35 year retired pilot for AA. Delta is a better airline, better managed
I ride delta frequently on summer but when it comes to take off time and landing time I would say morning departures and sun set arrivals because they always look beautiful
Thank you for the review, I, going to have to give Delta another chance!
I like night or evening departures because I love city lights and airplane lights.
I am about to fly first class for the first time, which will be on Delta from ATL to HNL connecting in SLC. I like your Jeb Score system, and I hope my experience will be a great one. Thank you so much for your excellent and helpful videos!
Well I would chose morning you get to your destination early and it just have a great feeling!
I don’t mind morning flights but night time departures are the most beautiful to see ! Especially out of cities like New York & Vegas .
Delta for me. The southern hospitality wins every time. Food for me is more important than entertainment. It goes into my body physically!
Nicely done Jeb. I always enjoy watching your productions.
I’m flying Delta/KLM in the Fall to Portugal, I’ll let you know on the service and quality of Food, Emirates has good food flying to Greece from Newark, NJ.
Ill be going on my first flight this December 30 with my family. My wife has flown before but my daughter hasn't. We're flying to Indianapolis from NYC to visit a friend and they had a great deal on first class tickets so I upgraded. So excited.
AA clear winner. Newer aircraft, better food & improving on customer service! Delta just has cheaper wifi..Great review!
The wide array and impressive watch collection is what got me watching at first.
I love this comparison Great job making it and what Suzanne said about united being the best I agree with her
We always choose the earliest departures. Bonus if it is a 757 and always Delta!
I'm going to be traveling to Morocco to visit my Daughter & Son-in-Law. I've been looking at American & Delta Airlines. Your video has helped me. I wasn't pleased with the food on either airline. I'm going to look into other airlines too. Trying to find the best option. I really have enjoyed all of your videos! The videos on trains are great also.
Delta for me. Great pricing, good upgrade policy. FC is pretty comfy. Transcon routes with D1 service. And way less painful ways of lounge access. Those things will always win out. I am also a bit salty at AA, since they were first big carrier who started charging for bags.
2:40 i prefer night flights (flights between 9pm to 5am) my main route is from SJU to ATL,delta and frontier offers direct flies delta has like 3 flies and frontier just one flight that is at 1 and you arrive at ATL at 4am and I like that flight because the time but in comfort frontier is not even close to delta, delta is my fav airline, literally a frontier is like laying in a rock
