  • This experiment will begin with ignition in the sofa of an open floor plan kitchen/living room(common space). The search tactics in this experiment include operations initiated through the bedroom 2 and bedroom 3 windows prior to suppression. The fire is ignited in the living room, and at flashover, simulated crews on side C of the structure ventilate half of the double-wide windows in bedroom 2 and bedroom 3. The simulated crew in bedroom 3 finds the door to the hallway and searches bedroom 4. At the same time, the simulated crew in bedroom 2 reaches the hallway, closes the door behind them, and proceeds to bedroom 1. The initially closed bedroom 1 door gets opened to allow for crew entry. The crew then closes the door behind them. Once isolated in bedroom 1, the crew proceeds to remove the BR1 window. At this point the search tactic comparison is complete and interior suppression begins. For more information on the project, visit the project page on our site here: ulfirefightersafety.org/resea...

Thanks for sharing the information about "close before you dose" video. Please let all communities know this information is available. I support having live, in person firefighters talk and demonstrate, as much as possible, the much needed instructions seen on the videos. We the public with families need to know this information. I'm 75 years old and was not aware of the life saving act of sleeping with the door closed. I thank you.

You should do more of these type of streams and put them on TH-cam. There are a lot of people abroad that want to but can never attend in person!
We use a lot of your material when training our firefighters and video as a tool is great!

Amazed how bad the tic was when you had a fully developed fire. U see nothing and the temp does not match reality.

The FLIR camera range are much better cameras Alex. I would say you have much better picture throughout, but especially when things go bad.
But when you reach a very ventilation controlled state the air is filled with particles that block the view behind. Behind those particles it could be wicked hot and you never know.
