      Even this video tells you a few and they’re for Trump. But, this is mostly stating his lackings. Violence Against women act (which I know some don’t care for), significantly made the lives of ALL women better. He didn’t conceive the bill, but boy did he birth it. Republicans are never for it. Even recently, they wanted to not include Native American women to be protected (a Trump thing). lol
      Basically, anything that is good for most people, these folks oppose.

      If you watch the video, Joe was pretty annoyed that this black guy still had the nerve to want to ask him more questions and wanted to know what the democratic part would do in favor for black support.
      So Joe said the quiet part out loud. In other words, “I don’t need you, you need me. I don’t have to do a thing for you because you are going to vote democrat anyway” or in other words, “if you don’t vote me you ain’t black”
      You can try and attach a make believe meaning to it, but look at Joe’s treatment of blacks in the past. He created the 1994 crime bill that put a lot of black peoples in prison, he made the remarks calling us predators. Not too mention saying blacks are not smart enough to get a free ID to vote.

    Included in his 50-year career is his long, loyal, enduring friendship with Senator Robert C. Byrd (D), Grand Cyclops of the KKK. Not much is mentioned
    about that anywhere. Biden read Byrds eulogy when he passed away in 2010.

    • @luxborealis
      @luxborealis 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You forgot to mention the point Byrd famously left the KKK at the start of the civil rights campaign in the fifties because he came to sympathize with the protesters, and he would later renounce white supremacy entirely and become a major congressional campaigner for civil rights and aid for African-Americans. The whole reason Biden became friends with him is because the two of them were both close allies of the Congressional Black Caucus and so worked together on several bills.
      You could levy this criticism at the Clintons, who were Dixiecrats like Byrd and knew him before he became progressive, but it is very silly to make it of Joe Biden, who literally ended up in this career because he wanted to become a Civil Rights lawyer to defend the local community for prosecution over the protests. Biden was loved by the black community because of that. While others of the oldest senators have more impressive civil rights records (for example, Bernie Sanders got arrested for rioting after MLK was shot), Biden made up for that weakness by his closeness to the Black Caucus throughout his career, helping them draft policies like sanctions against the Apartheid government in South Africa.

    What an odd summery of his career. Discussing his role in the Crime Bill which is viewed unfavorably now but not his role in banning assault weapons or passing the violence against women act that are viewed positively at least on the right. Mentioning his support for the war in Iraq which is viewed negatively but not his strong support for a US intervention in the Yugoslav wars that came to be viewed well. The list goes on. This certainly is not a hit piece, but it is an overview not of Biden's accomplishments but of his controversies. Compromises need to be made for an eight minute video but surely it could have been put together better than this.
