I spent a whole lot of money on different sellers until I found the right guy and even then, I learned which rolls to go for. I recently lost on a couple that I wanted but someone else wanted them a lot more. Definitely had a couple awesome DMPL enders. It’s been bugging me for days haha
I purchase them on ebay from a seller. I purchased another $20 dollar roll yesterday for $2165. I have bought several already. I'm waiting on mine to come back from being graded now.
Morgan rolls don't exist. Coins weren't rolled until after Morgans stopped getting minted. All rolls are from decades later and you can't guarantee they haven't been searched because they didn't come from the mint.
how do you get a sense of what is cleaned I got a lot that are nice looking but probably cleaned, I was at carson city in oct stayed in va. city what a trip got the bug for cc coins and bought my first morgan 1884 ms63 at the coin shop across from the cc mint museum nice video thanks
Sometimes you need magnification but look for parallel lines like it was scrubbed by something. The surface should be smooth or frosty. Some people use a dip to clean them. That’s harder to detect. I’m still learning on those. Thanks!
I order rolls on eBay. It’s not a straight CC Morgan. It’s an average that I’ve paid for all the morgan’s I’ve gotten. I wouldn’t expect to pay $80 for good CC Morgan’s.
Two benefits of grading are verification of authenticity and the grade itself. You have the COA, but no grade. The value varies depending on grade. But joining PCGS and grading fees aren’t cheap either. I’d recommend going to PCGS coin facts and comparing the images of the graded coins and seeing if its worth it. It’s probably not unless it’s a very high grade.
Not sure if they still do, but NGC used to offer grading in the GSA holder. Some people, some times, pay premiums for samples still in the GSA holders.

I only joined PCGS less than a year ago. So I’m new to this too. I have more experience with Morgans than Modern coins. I got the platinum membership. I think it was around $250. You get 8 free grades with it. Afterwords it can range anywhere from $20 to $65 for rush.
AU59 grade. Since it was cleaned, PCGS won’t grade them but they give them a general grade of AU which ranges from 50-59. Comparing them to images of others graded on PCGS I think a 55 is being fair.
If you look closely down at the tail there is a “die chip” or something that got in the way and left a large solid line on the bottom between the tail and the wreath. If you pause the video on the picture you’ll spot it.
That’s what always gets me about the shipping insurance. I started low balling it because I usually wasn’t getting the grade I expected. So I spent a ton on insurance and then ended up not needing that much. So you insure it for whatever you think it’s worth. For me…. It wasn’t worth it usually. So I stopped putting high insurance on them.
I’ve bought over 1,200 this year of Morgan Rolls. I only buy from this seller now. If I’d only bought from this seller I’d have been less than $70 per coin on average. I wish I’d had known when I started!

In this video the 78 CC DMPL came from a roll. 99% of my Morgan’s have been from rolls. Granted I’ve bought A LOT of rolls but good ones exist. I’m not recommending everyone do it. I’m just showing people what I have.
I think a few of them they just 63 and 4'd the hell out of em just to push em thru. Comparing the 64s with each other some of them just don't make sense. And the cleaned ones I'm curious what they're seeing because the luster is off the charts on the cleaners.
I wish they’d 65 some of my 64’s just for fun lol. Sometimes their grading is really a head scratcher. I got one back recently that looked scratched and cleaned to me. They gave it a 64 🤷🏼♂️

It’s my average cost per coin. I bought BU rolls off eBay for a couple years and that’s what it came out to. Now my average cost is down to $77. I’m about to buy a collection which will bring my average cost to $67 per Morgan.
It’s just a more common date unfortunately. Some of the cleaning is obvious when you see scratches but sometimes I have no idea how they determine it as cleaned. It can be frustrating for sure.

I’m not opposed to it. I haven’t sold any yet. These VAMS are worth more but I think I have some others that were cleaned and didn’t get their vams. Those are probably more of what you’d want if you’re just comparing. Linear lines are what you want to look for. The ones that get dipped are harder for me to determine

There is a die gouge under the tail feathers. So it has become a special variety

I thought the pricing was supposed to be MS 60 for uncle details, rather than MS 61. My LCS sells them at AU-58.
