@@rockysramblings when grading fees are 5 x cheaper than buying them, I'll surely be sending mine in to NGC I think. Right now locally most commons run about 40-75. There was a 200$ CC and a 400$ 1894 P I've let slip because of my dovishness on capital, grade was Fine on those..
Yes! A pleasure to see a Rambling by Rocky video pop up on a Sunday afternoon! That 64PL was the * star * of the show. On the “repaired” since it doesn’t really show up even when magnified to a 2 foot diameter on TV, my guess is the rim. Do you see that rim ding right at 6:00 o’clock on the bottom? I bet they think someone pressed it back down. Keep ‘em coming buddy!
Great video! The repair on the 1895-O looks like it is right below the date. Maybe it was in jewelry once? Regardless, it is a great-looking coin! Cheers.
Its so easy to fall in love with Morgan dollars. I have the same problem. The trouble is we become suckers for them. I know how you feel. I know your pain.
I'm surprised that other 78 ms 61 got a proof like designation when I've seen some that I thought were absolutely hands down a dmpl but didnt even get proof like designation, gorgeous coins though for sure
@@rockysramblings I’ve got a few coins that I believe would get slabbed and others I’m not really confident about because I’ve seen coins that I thought would be slabbed but got details grade. Right now the one thing I’d like to do is submit my own coin that isn’t a modern mint production. I’d be pretty happy because I submitted the right coin and not one that someone else had graded. A MS63-MS66 would be great. I have some that I’m confident would grade MS69/70 or PR69/70 (modern). Best Luck on future submissions.
Don't feel bad about not being able to distinguish Proof Like attribution - but you need to learn because it's where a lot of the value is because it's the coins that came off of new dies first. So, one could be forgiven for surmising that they could be considered the best coins(Proof Like and Deep Mirror Proof Like).
I’ve gotten better at it since this video. But I have a really hard time still with ones that are in holders. I was told if you look at it from the side and the fields are black then it a DMPL, but I still am not sure. If it’s a raw coin it’s much easier for me.
Nice, the last two in my opinion are over graded. But it's hard to tell on video. Either that or a lot of my pcgs ms 64s are undergraded (which i definitely think they are). Either way that's great you got those grades! Something good from the grading companies finally lol.
If I remember right one of those has a ton of scratches on them and I thought they missed a cleaned coin but I realized later that it’s a very heavily polished die. But I’m happy anyway! Haha
Yep. I started doing that. I realized I was wasting a bunch of money doing that the wrong way. I talk about it in another video. I can’t remember which one
The very least the grading companies can do in regards to "details" designations would be to list which side of the coin the problem is on. Put it on a separate piece of paper.....it's not hard to do people. There's no excuse for not being able to prove one's work.
For some reason (no reason?) coin collectors are extraordinarily tolerant of being unfairly screwed out of vast amounts of money by arrogant people known as grading services who get rich doing it. It's the classic S&M routine. Maybe staring at coins turns people into Little Orphan Annie.
Well with the videos I make doing grades I catch a lot of flack for my grades but the videos pick up and accent a lot of the details that don’t look as bad in person. I think I have a better idea on the “shiny” ones than the duller finished ones. Those get me a little confused because they hide the scratches. At any rate, I’m happy with these results! Haha
Should make videos of the coins prior to sending them to document the details of your expectations to the world. Isnt there a department of consumer afairs or fair trade act with regard to companies who don't perform their work appropriately and consistently?
Some of my earlier videos do have a submission video but I kinda quit doing that cuz it took so long between videos. Maybe I’ll start again tho since ANACS is much faster
Love Morgans, but find your method of revealing the grades more than a tad annoying. You are far too verbose BEFORE revealing the grade.🤔 Show us the grade, and jabber about it afterward ~ please. 😉
SLABS! I love slabs!
Especially PCGS slabs ( with all due respect to other top grading companies)
From experience, CAC would probably say the 1895 O obverse is "altered surfaces." Looks like the repairs are on the obverse rim near the date.
Congrats on the PL grades. Grading is subjective, it’s an art and a science.
Thank you. Wasn’t expecting them.
Truth
Nice grade on that cc good for you!! Like to watch all your videos keep them coming
Thanks! Will do!
Some beautiful Morgans
Thank you!
Enjoyed watching. Love Morgan's & it is nice to see the graded ones.
Some good looking coins! Thanks for the unboxing!
Thanks for watching!
Nice PL Rocky , your buying the drinks !!!!!!!
Keep it under $10 please 😆
A nice fresh video! Thank you!!!
Thanks! I’m trying

Geez, that 1880 looks like a super details coin
Just low grade 🤷🏼♂️
Sweet CC, congrats!
Thanks!
Congrats! Way to go.
Congrats on the 78 CC PL. On the 95-O the rim below the date looks like it had been filed down.
It just boggles my mind why it was repaired there tho. Maybe someone trying to sell it for more than it was actually worth in the past? 🤷🏼♂️

12:24 wow
Congratulations on the 1878 CC MS64PL.
That made your day I bet. 😊👍🏽
Indeed it did! But I got an 1878 cc DMPL on another one which was unexpected as well. I’m happy with both!

That 78-cc had a shot at 66 in my opinion
Oh man I wish! Maybe I should try to crossover to ANACS
@@rockysramblings no anacs
Hey bud I know this is probably off the wall question but could I buy a couple of them PCGS boxes from you?
Sure. I’ve got some extras.

Unfortunately no. I get most my Morgan’s from eBay.

I can’t see where the 95-O has been repaired.
On the bottom?

It’s not PCGS if you don’t get 50% details grade
Haha seems that way sometimes

Where is this guy getting his prices from? Man I wish people like this would buy coins from me! lol ridiculous
PCGS price list. Yes it’s inflated but it’s an easy source to find pricing.
Nice CC man! A few very small scratches on obverse and I think we may have gotten lucky onthe MS64. But definitely proof like and Beautiful!

I use the prices listed on PCGS
The repaired one is obviously plated
What do you mean? Plated in what?
Nice coins. Very agonizing to watch. Just flip them over. Pausing for days is not going to change the grade. Video could’ve been 75% shorter.

I am far from an expert but the color/sheen on the 1895-O looked off to me.
Its heavily toned. Maybe if it hadn’t been repaired it would have been details “suspicious coloring” haha
