Hantek CC-65 and CC-650 Current Clamps - Unboxing and First Look!

  • I took the leap and ordered two current clamps to be used with my Rigol DS1052Z!
Current clamps are inductive sensing devices that produce a voltage (V) when they sense the magnetic field generated by a current moving through a wire.
The CC-65 and CC-650 are great budget clamps and we will see if they suit my needs!
This is not a sponsored video, all of the equipment (to date) has been bought by me and are intended to be used by me.
    Thanks for watching!

IN my testing the Hantek CC65 is the best budget current clamp on the market.
went bananas in these Ac/DC current clamps and spend a tad over 120bucks and got all the cheapest CN versions I could find some years back as a way to learn.
got 4 different models for my 4ch Micisig STO scope.
    Purchased
    # Hantek CC65 (20Khz) 40USD
    # ETCR007 (100Khz) 47USD
    # Allsun EM264 (?Khz) 26USD
    # HoldPeak 605 (?Khz) 14USD
    all AC / DC valid.
Your video above, was actually the reason why I went for the little brother CC65 and not the CC650 that was like 15USD more, as it seemed the smaller CC65 had way less noise.
the most expensive ETCR007 (100Khz) at a tad under 50 bucks, was a letdown and has way more noise than the Hantek IMO.
example of the noise floor. th-cam.com/video/OH0gfz7I9Bw/w-d-xo.html

Here I go thinking I found something unique on Banggood and you did a video about it 3 years ago.

That uni-t clamp is cool too. I find they are very under rated but expensive for their high end gear. I wish theyd go the extra mile and get the third party safety badge. My ut61e+ was my daily driver for a year but now i have so many meters that i can bathe in them. Haha. You ever wanna unload any unused gear ill pay well.

At 7:51 if you set the channel to 10X you will be able to directly read off the amps without calculation since the probe is providing 1 mV per 10 mA the DSO will multiply the input voltage by 10 giving you 10 mV per 10 mA which is 1 mV per 1 mA. On my Siglent I can also change the the units to either volts or amps and I'm sure you can do the same for clarity.

You have a rigol tablet scope hahaha. You can also scope whatever is chewing your battery in your car too. That's why i got it haha

I definitely think we kinda going the same results bit of a pain to zero but pretty good!!

I just got the little one. It wasn't cheap.

I wish I would have done the motor draw test! I thinking about doing one with a bad armature loop or some nail polish on one of the bars!

if you have the larger one (cc-650) you can actually do a dynamic resistance test on the individual windings of a starter in situ. it is very useful!

I use mine in automotive work primarily, I really wish the cables was at least 2 meters long

would this show a sinewave if its AC amps ? or it will be always a line

    • @SimpleElectronics
      @SimpleElectronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No it should show a semi-sine wave, depending on the load, since voltage crosses the 0 point, it should also bring the current to zero as well

Whats your thought here down the line..they are around the same price..are the noisefloor way higher on the 650 vs the65 or are they around the same so it would make sense to go for 650 model, ..any noticeable drawback on the 650 in regards to 65 model? Thx for vid..+

the sensitivity is much higher on the cc-65 so if you're not measuring past 60A, I would say get the cc-65, otherwise, get the cc-650

Hi, those can be plugged up in any oscilloscope?
    Thanks

    • @SimpleElectronics
      @SimpleElectronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes they can! They only output voltage, so theoretically, they can even work on multimeters!

      On the scope? x1 mode

@@SimpleElectronics rep, on my scope I think I have the same mso1042 or something like that. I have to manually set the probe, so wasn't sure if it was 1x or 10... Didn't have a, know amp source to measure at, the time. So 1x... Ty.

Hantek sells enough that they probably don't give much away.... just a thought as I have Hantek stuff as well.

Yeah. They cater to all price points too. See their new 8.5 digit bench meters. They look slick.

I can’t find a review video from u. Does that mean u didn’t find them very useful?

  • @allinoner

So many wrong things in this video:
1.why not zero the Probe after u put it on the wire with supply off?
2.why not set the scope to 10x ?
    3. You can change the scope from showing mV to mA
