I love Yarmouth, and everything you can do. Unfortunately, the guy I tried to do a mutual exchange with, turned out to be a completed d**K. Still trying to move there though, and the owners of the hut café by the beach front, were always really lovely to me

That was brilliant Tim. I've been to Great Yarmouth lots of times as a friend of mine moved to Caister on sea. Sadly he has now passed away, so havn't been up there for 6 years, but I used to love the old Market - there was sometimes a guy who had Owls there. Shame about the Pea stall closing down. Regent Road was always fun to walk down - heaving in the summer months. This video brought back so many fond memories of happy days, admiring the faded grandeur of the place and then the short drive back up to Caister. I've just found your channel, quite by chance, and am hooked. Your in depth, honest reviews are excellent, and I especially like the 'Worst Rated Hotels and Seaside Resorts' . Thanks for taking us along. Take care 🙂

Hi Tim loved your video today brought back so many mainly childhood memories , been in the pleasure Beach loads of time my mom and her family had stalls there in the late 40,s but sold them and moved to bham , I used to go roller skating at the Wellington pier my uncle used to sing there with david Whitfield and other stars, my nan used to take us to joyland and the waterways, my aunt had a guest house in St Peters Rd by the circus , remember the floods early 50,s all my family had to move in my nans flat as she was on the 2nd floor I could go on and on .

I have many happy memories of the beach huts on the “quiet” side of pier, we used to rent one every summer. We now rent one of the wooden ones on the other side behind the sea life. When Jim Davidson was in charge of Wellington pier/theatre/winter gardens, the BBC did a program about his application for lottery funding. They contacted my family and a few others who were regulars in the beach huts, asking if we would like to appear on the show and talk about why we loved Yarmouth etc. They spent a week with us, filming on the beach during the day, and at night at a couple of shows in the Theatre. The show was called “A pier too far”, I have it on the original VHS and now DVD, one day I’ll try and make a digital copy and upload to TH-cam

Another lovely video Tim - what a shame about the new market putting rent up so people can’t afford it - if everybody left there wouldn’t be a market! Best of luck to the chap with the pea and pie stall - hopefully he can find a way to carry on. It’s people like him that make Great Yarmouth what it is and what keeps people coming back year on year. Thanks Tim😀

When you mentioned the Banksy thing I had to google it 'cos it was new information to me, it's surprising how it still looks pretty much the same (at least from a distance), happy for them getting a windfall courtesy of Banksy, I hope it keep Merrivale in Yarmouth for many years to come.

Great video again Tim, loved seeing Great Yarmouth in January. Looked a great day with the weather too. Real shame about the market stall holders being priced out, unfortunately seems to happen a lot as I live in Newark on Trent which used to have a great indoor and outdoor markets but redevelopment and rising stall rents have severely depleted it. Not all the local Council at fault tho, emergence of mass supermarkets and online shopping hasn’t helped. Looking forward to future videos, just started rewatching your videos from the start again especially whilst recently recovering from Covid.

What an insight into the innermost workings of Yarmouth during January, Tim! However, it was sad about the pea stall. When I was a lad in the 60s, my mum used to take me to the Central Market, Nottingham, always on a Saturday morning, primarily to have mushy peas and mint sauce (Apparently, a Nottingham tradition). But I can bet a pound to a penny the stall has vanished from the now Victoria Centre, just like the many others 😕

MASSIVE, MASSIVE Thumbs up from me. Great Yarmouth was a genuine pleasure to visit for me and my family to visit back in 2011, we adored the place. We stayed in Hemsby but all of our time was spent in Great Yarmouth. We completely missed the Hippodrome Circus building; got to see that next time as it looks wonderful. Thanks so much Tim for your time and effort on putting this super movie together; very much appreciated. I know you have visited my neck of the woods (North Yorkshire) but how did you miss Saltburn by the Sea? Its a stunning little resort with the only remaining pier on the North Yorkshire coast!! It was originally 1500 feet long but due to many reasons is now only 681 feet. However, its a fab pier to walk under at low tide. Next time you are in North Yorkshire please check the town out; its lovely. Thanks again Tiim for your continued brilliant work. Hope you Gabby and the little one are well.

Could I make a request when you next make a series in the local area... Could you do more content going to and speaking about places that mean a lot to you and the odd memory that you have? Also could you do more chats to locals that you know either well or those that you recognise, like this one with John, the pea stall guy?
I know you already include this kind of content, but I feel like focussing more on the slightly more personal side or focussing more on locals and local businesses would make the revists more varied and could help local businesses.
I was thinking about it Tim and you are actually somebody in local tourism. I think you have the right and stature to walk around and talk to anybody and to ask some interesting questions. I reckon that over the years you have drummed up quite a lot of business in the area. You should be proud of yourself mate and anybody with their head screwed on right would want to chat with you and potentially get a little boost from your viewers.
Happy new year to you, Gabby and the kids...

Very interesting more so as I visited on 3oDecember. I was amazed at how little was open. At least the Mariners and Tombstone pubs, both great by the way, were open. Regent street just needed some tumbleweed rolling down it. Great shame about the market. Old marketeers forced out for one reason or another. I reckon a lot of brown envelopes changed hands in this deal.

Hey Tim! Been a fan since i found your vids this past summer, was looking for some spooky nostalgic ghost stories about my childhood holiday destination, came across your halloween 2020 ghost tour, all your vids are really insightful and are perfect for a hit of nostalgia on a bad day. I was wondering is that old timey penny arcade next to the model villaige still around? It's been around 14 years since I last went to Yarmouth myself but that place always mesmerised me. Congrats on the little one by the way, wishing all the best for you and Gabbie :)

Basicily the closer to the flight it's cheaper. So if you pack 1 bag and just go you can get to places for cheap.

The pea stall is now moving into the new market, it will also be selling chips.
Only last week the sea came upto Sarah’s Tea Room wall, seen this happen at least three times in last ten years. The pleasure beach do not usually dismantle the rides, the area you talk about they are adding new ones. The old Palmers stall in the marketplace you can see in your video is to become the new library and University linked learning centre.

Visitors like it. People from seaside resorts usually hate living in them, unless they're quieter seaside towns without attractions and crowds. Generally, seaside residents would never visit a British resort, and always fly abroad. I live in Rhyl but travel around the coast: everyone else's knowledge seems to be restricted to Llandudno and the North West resorts as far as Blackpool.
