I can't wait!!!!
@James Johnson uh, your looking at a least a 1200 dollar fix there from a RV shop, more if they try and sell U new motors......she saved alot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$......................
if it was under warranty , she would not be doing the repairs i wouldnt think. she would just bring it to a warranty repair shop.
@James Johnson ALFA WENT OUT OF BUSINESS YEARS AGO.
David Schonhardt And now we know why!! Lol
Greetings from a Certified RV tech that owns a Mobile RV Service and works on these systems often! LOL.
One of the subscribers to my TH-cam channel directed me to your channel - specifically your Schwintech repair. Well done!!!
As I was watching your discovery of the issue, I was biting my nails wishing I could talk you through some of the more difficult areas to save you hours!
I spend a week in Lippert factory training going over issues like you were having and picking up many short-cuts to help diagnose. Then you nailed it at the end when you said it could be done in 3 hours - I laughed out loud when you said that because it is true!
I have been called out on many slide room recovery jobs and honestly the Schwintech (Lippert In-wall) is my most favorite to work on! Lots of short-cuts and tricks to make it much easier to access and for troubleshoot things.
You covered many of them in your wrap-up but there are a few more. If you know how they work, they really are very easy to repair - I think you summed it up perfectly.
Your story has inspired me to put together a Schwintech video for my channel and go over lots of these short-cuts and tricks to recover in a spirit of helping others.
If you EVER get stuck again on something like this (or any other RV repair), please reach out to me and I will do my best to help you. www.myrvworks.com
.
Happy Camping and keep inspiring others to do the same!
You are making a huge difference in many others lives!!!
Cheers,

Thanks Darren!
I totally admire that you do repairs and maintenance.....as a fellow woman I love seeing that you always show such a positive attitude too!
Thanks ☺️
Pippi you a maze me I am a mechanic and i don't think I would have tackle that job. You are wonderful and so lucky to have a neighbor to help you. But that is one of the many reason why I would not have a trailer with a slide. Great job.
a REAL ROSIE the RIVERTER for MODERN TIMES .......................able to fix large probs in a single turnof the power screwdriver................Call her PIPPI the Problem Solver
I am truly impressed that you tackled this project. Your ability to troubleshoot and your determination are admirable.
Thank you 😄
I knew you would not rest until you fixed yourself. You Are a Amazing Young Lady.
THANK YOU DANIEL & Tamara for helping Pippi!!!! That was so NICE/SWEET of you 2 to help her. Thank GOD you 2 were there!!!! LOVES/HUGS!!!!
Wow that was amazing, no telling how much it would have cost, if you had taken it to a shop. RV community is a tight knit community, always willing to help. Great job
YUP a shop would have sold her new motors probably at twice the cost and then labor... hate to think of the final bill... Pippi, just for fun call a shop and ask them how much is a new motor? 170 bucks on amazon, we know that...
$250 from a shop. I already did this from the get go
I am glad I have no slides in my twenty-seven foot travel trailer. When I look at new ones, I see that they all have slides. Even smaller ones than mine have slides. I am sticking to mine with no slides. Even though slides give more room and make the RV feel much more spacious, they seem to be a constant problem. They leak water, they leak outside air, collect debris on their top, they let bugs crawl in, and they fail. You took on a monumental task and you conquered it with the help of your neighbor. Congratulations!! I am impressed!! That is very impressive and you are to be congratulated. I don't think many would have gone into it as far as you did. I bet the service shop would have changed the motors and said that they fixed it when the wires were the real problem. You found the real problem and fixed it. That is great!!
Yeah, not a fan of shops.... thanks for watching 😄
You are an amazing woman. I say that because most women's first question would be "It has a motor?" That's not a knock, it's great you have the ability and desire to do this kind of work.
As others have said, you amaze me! I am an electrician and an electronics technician and I wouldn’t want to tackle this. RV community is so great! Such good neighbors to help you out!
What a neat woman you are! Not only impressed that you were diligent and steadfast in fixing your problem but you did it without spewing bad words all over the place. My version of this repair would have been R rated for sure. Nice job! I found this video because I too have to replace a bad motor. Fortunately although my motor is in a tough spot under the bed, it's not quite as horrific as the location your motor is installed.
RV neighbors are the best. Always willing to help a neighbor out.
I have a Newmar Dutch Star. Motorhome. It is now 25 yrs old. We have NEVER had a slide issue. We have a large living room slide and a bedroom slide. What a crappy design. They ought to make the design engineers work on them!! And good for you and your neighbor for sticking with it!
Once again!!....you never cease to amaze me with your talents!.....I am soo impressed with your tenacity and intelligence....I adore you !
HEY HEY HEY, tone it down a little, no need to give her a SWELLED HEAD!..........ha ha ha .now if she can do a TIMING chain on the tow rig I'd really be impressed........
WOW - I felt your pain on this repair, Pippi. I wonder how many viewers truly appreciate how hard it was for you to film with one hand and try to work with the other. Great job hanging in there to see it through!
Thanks
wow...am so impressed. Our full wall Schwintek slide on an Itasca Solei failed in the "halfway out" position at a campground in Rapid City Iowa. The top portion was out substantially further than the bottom but would go no further either way. We had a hard time getting level, which I suspect led to the problem. The local mobile repair guys wouldn't tackle it. So on to Plan B, which was to push the slide in. We thought we had disconnected the two motors by the process you described...but it still wouldn't go in. As a desperate solution, we rounded up every able body male in the campground. With 13 pretty muscular guys, we finally managed to shove the slide out back in and lock in place (the picture is priceless). Two months and 5000+ miles later (with the slide fully locked in place the whole time) we finally returned home and got our trusted local shop to fix it. They found that the motors had NOT been disconnected fully; hence the need for lots of brawn to overcome the torque on the motors. Obviously, it is harder to disconnect the motors than the instructions imply. All that said, I am truly impressed you were able to successfully diagnose the problem and successfully perform the repair. Bravo!
Wow that’s a bummer. Hopefully you got it all fixed!
You are great, with an electrical engineering degree and 40 years of maintenance experience ( frequently equipment I have not seen before ) I am deeply impressed.
I am blown away, you are so smart. I am a guy and I would not be able to tackle this project the way you did. You are incredible....
This was actually the best "how to" videos on how to pull and replace those motors that is on the internet. All the videos out there are in the shop and are done by techs. Which is not the real world that we all live in and what had happened to you. They show you how to pull the motors and "free float" the slide usually when the slide is fully extended. My slides are like yours are, you pretty much screwed if the slides are in because of the lack of access. Thank you for posting this video. Was informative.
she is AMAZING with a POWER DRILL DRIVER,,,,,,,,.................
I’m so glad it’s helpful. I’ve watched all the shop videos and they were almost 100% useless
@@PippiPeterson that's why we have PIPPI POWER here on the RV network, have you considered aligning yourself as a product spokesman for various RV and products repairs? And U need a TOOLBELT and Hard hat when you dig this deep into RV REPAIRS???:))
You sure were lucky to have such nice and capable neighbors! This video confirmed to me that at my age I would not want a rig with a slide because I would not be able to do what you and your neighbor so cleverly resolved.
a small price to pay for all that space, besides she should keep the slides lubes with grease
ger traba She does regular slide lubes as part of her maintenance routine. It’s on one of her videos. One of the motor wires came loose, that’s why the slide broke.
I love the fact that you did not give up and stuck with the job in spite of the difficulties and road blocks along the way. Now that you have learned the system and solved the problem, that accomplishment should make you feel very good about yourself and your ability to solve any issue that comes up.
Understanding the system is the key to success and sharing that information with others is beyond awesome!
Pippi there is nothing sexier than a brilliant, tenacious, intuitive, determined young woman, except one with all those talents rapped in a truly beautiful package. I've watched your channel from the solar, and penny counters of the Bounder days. There just isn't anything you can't do, and your determination to not let a difficult problem conquer you is so impressive. They truly broke the mold when you were made. There are very few women that could rival your personal resoluteness, especially in areas many guys would still be standing there scratching their head, over some of the problems you have encountered, and refused to let get the best of you. You are truly amazing, and an inspiration to many of us. Bless you.
You are truly amazing tackling jobs that most men would not. Certain jobs that I'm familiar with, I will tackle, but as cheap as these RV's are made I'd be afraid of permanently damaging something. The older I get I use this premise, I'm good at what I do, and get paid well for it. Therefore I have no problem paying an expert RV Tech to fix these larger problems. My hat's off to you for taking on this task.
Between your video & Eric's I am totally convinced I do not want slides. It will just be me and I don't need the extra room, hassle, or expense.
Agreed, less moving parts, equals less headaches and breakdowns!
Yeah, No slides unless its a manual crank.
I’ve already changed my search criteria in RVTrader to only include rvs with 0 slides.
It's an endless debate. The thing is that the slides aren't operated that often, a majority of a day the slide is either in or out, and yet other than black tank issues this may be one of the most prevalent issue in RVs. It may be important to choose an RV that can be used normally with the slides in. I really like the analysis of the problem. Troubleshooting is a real skill.
Wow! How fortunate that you had a neighbor willing and able to provide such valuable assistance!
Yes incredible! They were awesome neighbors and now friends even if I didn’t need help! 😄
Good video! Thank you. I've done the solder repair on one of these several years ago with a slide stuck open, so your stuck shut situation was helpful to me. I have a mobile repair business, and have one of these to do today! Obviously, Lippert has a design and engineering flaw here, and RV owners pay the price. I would carry a couple of spare motors and a cable on hand when traveling if I owned a rig with this 'certain to fail' system.
Girl, I love that you do the repairs on your rv yourself also love that you live on your own in an rv and you're so young ...you are unique...not many women would attempt the things that you do and you seem to be successful at it as well...very impressive lol most women don't even know how to use tools
What a blessing to have the neighbors you had. If I was your neighbor you would have been SOL!
Kudos for even attempting such a project. Lessons learned makes second time easy. A solder sucker would make that soldering job so much easier. You should be proud of yourself and just think what it would have cost at a RV shop 👍👍
Pippi needs a HARD HAT and a tool belt.................a real RV fix it GAL!
Oh it’s be quite a bill
This is a great video. I was searching TH-cam to learn about Schwintek slides so that I could troubleshoot mine if it were to fail. Thanks to you, I am well prepared to tackle this issue if my slide were to fail. Thanks for the video!
Very impressive. Good weather and a very able neighbor saved your butt. You are a real trooper.
Simply awesome watching you go through the logic of troubleshooting and diagnosing repairs. As an extremely mechanically inclined person myself, you are an inspiration to thousands who would not normally attempt to try such repairs.
Being solo I empathize how hard it is to do projects without help. So lucky you had a neighbor who could help and also could solder! No wonder there are so many issues with Schwintek (typical RV junk construction). I have Power Gear on my motorhome.
Girl , you rock ! I’m a retired Caterpillar mechanic. It’s awesome to see your determination to get this project done. Some of the guys I worked with wouldn’t have been able to figure this out.
You go girl :) That's how everyone (male or female) learns how to fix things in life. I wish many safe and enjoyable travels to you.
I was really feeling down today but watching your video put a smile on my face . Thanks. Good luck with the 5W.
Unbelievable! You have a lot of guts, determination, and talent. No way in the world I’d try that. And thank the good Lord you had those neighbors. Great video.
Yes they were amazing 😄
Oh the joys of home ownership! Just proves no home is free from problems. I really enjoyed your video and love how the RV community comes to the rescue! safe travels.
Spot on with it all!
I love that tech talk, and Pippi makes it happy
Thank you
You are so amazing and tenacious. I can’t imagine how much that would have cost at a shop at $100+ an hour. Well Done. You Rock!
Pippi I feel for you with all the work it took to repair your slide. I am so glad you had such good help near you. I am glad you are who your are. You tackle a lot of projects that some would not even think to try. You are one very remarkable women. I am thankful for you and who you are. always xxoo Jim
Thank you!
Don't know that I would have attempted that repair.
You did an awesome job.
Safe travels and good health
WOW PIPPI!!! I have been watching you for a couple years...... have never commented on you or any other site for that matter..... but that was incredible.....you are amazing!!!!! Love ya Pippi, such a wonderful soul you are.
so awesome that you fixed it. Often we find that original wiring is at fault when failures happen.
I bought a 2000 Newmar Kountry Star that had a fault that could not be found, causing the engine to be in limp mode for 18 yrs! I got it for 17K, it originally sold for 193K! I was checking all the wiring looking for dead circuits, and found a Original Wiring Fault from the Manufacturer that caused much difficulty starting the engine. It was a Wire pushed back in the socket for the start/run relay and it was making intermittent connections. Fixing that socket cleared every error in every circuit, And Now it starts easily and has twice as much power as it did before. Feels like it could push the world around. So now I can say I've Still never found a problem I couldn't figure out. Even if at my age i have to pay someone else for labor, and that how I see you Pippi, unstoppable, you may need help with parts Like Soldering but you never get Stopped from fixing everything. LOVE YOU Santa
Wow!!! Amazing you found it, good job!!
I don’t even have slides, or an RV for that matter, and I was riveted! Great video, Pippi!
Wow, Pippi. You're an inspiration to everyone who is learning about RVing. Love your smart deductions, you're smarter than the average bear.
Cheers,

This video is exactly why your channel is probably the best on YT when it comes to rv'ing. I have gained so much from your knowledge and tutorials. I'm glad you were able to figure things out and get it fixed. You deserve some quality relaxation time now!! Best wishes and safe travels! You're a wonderful person and a huge inspiration to the rest of us - keep it up!!
Thank you so much Andy 😄☺️
Wow, all that frustration and no swearing! At least on camera. The things you have to learn out of fixing the broke stuff! Kudos to the your neighbors Daniel & Tamara. Great video.
Wow now that was amazing, glad you got it fixed and with the help of two wonderful people!
Just started watching your channel again. Nice to see someone who can troubleshoot and actually repair something. You're a wonder.
Welcome back! Thanks for joining again 😄
@@PippiPeterson Are you having problems breathing? I just saw a video about Valley fever. Have you ever heard of it? It affects people in the southwest. Here's a link to a video about it, might be good to know: th-cam.com/video/_v6xyeBfff8/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for sharing. What a woman. I enjoy my RV without a slide
Yay for Daniel and Tamara. And your perseverance.👍 Good informative video
Indeed!
Wow. And I thought the days of Pippi projects were over when you got this big, deluxe 5th wheel! I always learn so much through your trials and tribulations. You have the patience of Job, as they say. Thank GOD those people were your neighbors!
Great job to you and Daniel and Tamara! You saved yourself hundreds if not thousands of $ by troubleshooting it yourself. So glad it worked and glad that Daniel figured out that they didn't soldier the wires. Imagine that. Driving and shaking and the wires disconnect. I guess they help out the RV techs by allowing that. You bypassed them. Good for you!
Thanks Kathy
You are fearless! I am so impressed with your willingness to tackle a job like that. You are far more brave than I am. Thank you for making this video
Thanks Roger!
Great job Pipps, way to stick with it. I'm not a fan of those slides. Glad to see there are good people in this world willing to help someone in need. Now kick back with a glass of wine and relax girl
Yes they were amazing to me! ☺️
Bet this was one where you thought "glad I didn't know what this would entail" when you started. I am no longer amazed at what you accomplished....still in awe, though. My amazement is how you are able to document it! A massive thank you for recording, EDITING and posting this! Love to the fur babies!
Thanks Rebekah!
Epic repair. It is always 1 step forward and 5 steps back. Fantastic trouble shooting effort. It is all a learning experience. You are great at thinking logically and working through the project.
Thanks!
What a GOD send that Daniel and Tamara were there and willing to help.
Yes they were and are! We’re still friends 😄
Thanks for this, Pippi. As i watched, I could sense your frustration -- I have some projects coming up with my rig that, no doubt, will bring me tears of anger and frustration. By the way, I was once an electronic technician, and 80-90% of trouble with electronics is "cold" or bad solder joints. It's just especially maddening when stuff fails on such a new and expensive rig as yours. As others have already said, you are an inspiration to all us DIY'ers.
All part of the adventure Pippi... Keep the motor running!
Pippi, you're so mechanically inclined. Very impressive. I guess living on the road by yourself you need to be jack of all trades. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Pip, I love your high level of deductive reasoning. While at Lockheed Missiles & Space Co., I worked with very smart rocket engineers and I think you could have been on the design team as well. Your perseverance to achieve your goals are remarkable!
Thank you so much! What a compliment!
I am very impressed at the way you take on some of these repair challenges. Great video as always!
Having been a camper for 40 years "never full time, a week at most" and owning 3 trailers "none with slides. I am getting ready this year to go for it full time. I am astounded after a year of research for a newer trailer that the rv manufacturers get away with putting below par products and workmanship in their rv's. 20k to 100k it doesn't seem to matter. Warranties are another problem. If you say you have such a good product then BACK IT UP. Kudo's for getting it done and it's always great to help people out.
Great job. Wasn’t easy for sure. I learned alot. I have same setup. Showing your mistakes was very helpful too! I now understand this setup.
Pippi Peterson. Thank you. I have been watching for a while. I am going fulltime RVing myself and videos like this help me to plan for issues that I didnt foresee
I will always have 2 to 4 days clothes available and will budget accordingly. Thank you for this and many of your videos
Best of luck and happy trails!!
Your "can do" attitude is an inspiration...........first the "want to"....then action.
Thanks ☺️
Wow, a positive attitude, beautiful and you do your own RV work too. You are one of a kind for sure. Very good information too. Thank you!
I had the exact same problem, my slide worked 2 times on a brand new camper. My slide was very hard to push out even after disconnecting the motor.. I called everyone, manufacturer, dealer. Got no help. You are very brave tackling this.
You are amazing. You never seem to shy away from challenges. You have my utmost and profound admiration and respect. Keep up the good work. Love your vids. Ziggy
You are simply amazing. I know I would have given up after the first day. Awesome job.
Very good video i am a technician and moving into rv repair ive learned so much from your great narration positive attitude and help from new friends. Thank you
What a great guy you have helping you. And good for you on tackling this job on your own!
You are AMAZING!!! I don’t know how you can do all that filming when doing all these complicated things! When I can’t figure something out, I just get so frustrated that I can’t think straight. You are always so focused and just get stuff done. You stick with it until you figure it out. I was exhausted for you. Happy you got it solved. Can you imagine how much that would have cost if you went to a shop? It’s wonderful that you had such great neighbors. Huge kudos to them for helping you. And how many rvers have soldering tools? Probably not many. You lucked out.
Just got to campground in Wichita Falls, TX and the back motor on our bedroom slide stopped working! Came across this video and, although I won't make the repair now due to continued traveling for next 3 days, I now know a whole heap lots more about this topic than I did at the start of the day (which was zero). Thank you for putting this video up for the world to benefit from!!
I’m so glad to hear it’s helpful and useful and sorry to hear you are having the problem
Ohhh mercy you are SOOOO talented!! It is nothing most of us would do! Pippi you totally are my Hero mechanical brave Women! WOW! Double WOW! Hooray for your awesome neighbors! Thanks Daniel!!
Thank you 😄
Well, they went out of their way to make that difficult. Kudos to you for taking it on. That being said, get yourself a soldering iron, solder, and a "solder sucker" (for clearing the holes where the wires need to go). If the wires have broken on those two motors, then you only have four more to go.
Daniel, what an awesome guy. Wow, just wow. I am not mechanically inclined. I would have given up. You are amazing Pippi.
Thanks ☺️
So glad you had wonderful neighbors to help you!!
God sent you an angel for sure to help. I own brand new Class C with bedroom (bed) side has failed three times now and dealer service can’t or won’t fix (needs replacement) and I feel YOUR pain and Frustrations. Daniel is really one of the good ones. Only time in my life I wish I had taken shop as I am clueless on mechanical stuff. Safe travels Pippi.
Sorry to hear about your slide. I’d be curious what’s wrong. Interesting the shop won’t fix it. Sounds like the other two times they didn’t fix it either.
Great Pippi...You Did It Again! BTY, You have beautiful Eyes. You should be a Model.....Be safe out there!
Pippi you are somethin'.....I doubt I would know where to start. The RV community is pretty amazing too.
You got a key light! Love it, and so happy that slide is back in business :)
It's called COLD SOLDER JOINTS, ..........Common on assy line work and Chrylser had probs with dashboads with loose joints
www.loveyourrv.com/soldering-tips-tricks-and-tools-how-to-make-a-reliable-connection/
Borrowing it from my dads photo stuff. I tried to tell him how amaaaaazing that light is and how greeeeeat it would be for videos. So he said I could borrow it anytime 😂
@@PippiPeterson It's a nice touch, glad you got to get it from him lol, maybe he won't miss it ;) ;)
My sister and her husband bought a 40' Alpha Gold motor home and they ran in to slide problems and problems. Finally they asked me to tackle it and so I took a wack at it. First it was the big living-room slide motor issue than followed the bedroom slide motor failure. The slide system used in that motor home wasn't bad it's just they used light weight cheep motors with a gear ratio to move the slides really fast (part of the selling point) but the electric motors were way too light duty to do the job so they overheated and burned out quickly. My Winnebago uses a screw jack system and it is slower than slow but I have never had an issue in 15 years. Most people would have never tackled that issue!
You and your friends are AWESOME! HIGH 5's ALL AROUND!
Excellent job young lady, now you get to help others with the problem
As they say timing is amazing! when I got home this vid was only up for 1 minutes and I had just came back from doing an emergency call out on a slide. The Lippert Schwintech! Fortunately in case is was a bad control board and the was only one on the California central coast and I got it. Or rather the owners did as they are $489.00!!!!! But it , the slide works as designed and the are now campers heading to Yosemite! Perfect timing on your video to say the least.
Lynn
489 for the board?? Rediculous!!!
Pippi Peterson you are amazing good job I know it was frustrating but good job
Your a patient and very smart young lady! Your energy is amazing to get the darn job done.
You truly are an original woman!! A real inspiration too so many :-)) do you ever stop smiling ?? I hope not,,
Great work go you, wishing the best the world can give, you deserve it ;-))
Well done! And that's why I don't want any slides!
I love how kind most people are. Thank you for sharing this experience.
Thank you for watching!
Tenacity pays off, great job!
You have to be the bravest RVer out there! I would have been waay over my head attempting that fix. Big props to your neighbor, they were key to your success! Hope you were able to buy them dinner for their assistance. Big thumbs down to schwintek and their crappy wiring! Come on man!
Congratulations Pippi!!! yet another pippening completed. You really should watch those barrette spiders though they tangle in your hair you were so lucky to of one that one. Thank goodness for neighbors like Daniel and Tamara they just happen to be there when you needed them. I see the pups were really involved in the repairs supervisors I believe you called them??? The way that you tackle stuff amazes me you start off with a big head of steam and push through until the end. Please hug the pups for me Pippi.
Thanks ☺️
I really commend you on tackling that job. I know alot of men that would have called a technician or taken it to a shop for repairs. Multiple thumbs up.....
Thanks
OMG WHAT GREAT INFORMATION !!! Thank you so much, I never understood how that worked
Great video....the struggle is REAL!! Thanks so much for taking us along on your slide repair journey. I have a Schwintek slide on my rig and now know a LOT more about how to troubleshoot it. Great work and keep on traveling!
