    I made a ruched body con skirt and was very frustrated when I got to the bottom hem/closing in the casings. So I went back and finished the bottom hem, THEN sewed down the rest of the of casing/side hems. This allowed the casing to be open all the way down with no open seams.

    Hello Kiana, i love your videos on tiktok and here. Hey sorry to ask this but could you teach us how to make the white shirt you are wearing on this video? I just bought rib fabric (a precious golden luxxy rib, and two benetton rib fabrics, blue and green) but i don't want to damage it (i'm a beginner) and i find that the model you are wearing along the skirt is really pretty. Thank you ❤. Sorry for the grammar mistakes, i'm not a native english speaker. Kisses~~

    @izzypiranio8404 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    wow!! This is so cute! I don't have a skirt like that so could you tell me what the measurements were of that please? Also, how much of that material did you use?

    • @KianaBonollo
      @KianaBonollo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use a regular skirt that doesn’t have stretch and extrapolate from that! The skirt I created is not skin tight- it measures about 27” around the waist when my waist is only 25”. This makes it easier to fit over the hips when putting it on. The hip measurement is about 36” which is my hip measurement. Just make the length as long as you want.

  • @trishasofian2172
    @trishasofian2172 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    omg this is great, just what i was looking for. However I don't really have stretchy fabric to work with, like you do, question is would it still work with non stretchy fabric or would I have to include a zipper in order for it to go past my hips when I try it on?

    • @KianaBonollo
      @KianaBonollo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s okay! That’s why we are putting this skirt on the bias (diagonal) because woven fabrics have stretch there. Just make the waist wide enough to stretch over the hips, then ease the extra fabric from the waist into the elastic waistband. Alternatively you could just put in an invisible zipper.

    • @KianaBonollo
      @KianaBonollo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could use any skirt that fits your waist/hips nice and go off that. The sides of the skirt are basically just straight lines after it curves off the hips and you can decide how much you want the skirt to flare.

    • @KianaBonollo
      @KianaBonollo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on the fabric. If I am working with 100% cotton I usually will to prevent shrinkage. I wasn't expecting this particular fabric to shrink so I did not. It's up to you!

    • @KianaBonollo
      @KianaBonollo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! If you are using a woven fabric with no stretch, you can cut the fabric on the bias (diagonal) and it will stretch. Play around with stretching various fabrics on the diagonal to see what stretches the best.

    Is the elastic measured 25” like your waist, or 27” like the fabric. In the video you show it as the same measurement as the fabric but you stated in another comment that the skirt it 2 inches bigger than your actual waist. Just wondering how it stays on and doesn’t fall off lol.

    • @KianaBonollo
      @KianaBonollo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I figured out if you make the fabric 27" and then the elastic 25" (for me) that it works best after I've now made the skirt a few times!! In the video I made them both like 27" because throughout the day my waist definitely gets bigger lmaooo.

  • @justbeautifulgirls8916
    @justbeautifulgirls8916 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If my fabric is not elastic it wont work?

    • @KianaBonollo
      @KianaBonollo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The point of putting a woven fabric on the bias (diagonal) is so that it will stretch. Notice that if you try to stretch any woven fabric left-right and up-down it will not stretch, but if you try to stretch it across the diagonal it will. Play around with your fabrics and see which ones stretch well across the bias. A lightweight and drapey fabric will work best.
