Many people have religious reasons for not being cremated and the lack of land for cemeteries means this is a very good alternative.

"What a way to give back to mother earth"...
So pouring non-combustable remains into non-dissolvable cement is better for mother earth than letting your entire body be food for micro organisms?

I thought it was gonna be buried urns of ashes with info plaques or something, I NEVER would have guessed they'd mold you into a goddamn *brick* & just dump you on the ocean floor lol.
As for the name/death info written on those plaques, I'd give it a year or two maximum before it gets encrusted with barnacles or something & becomes completely unreadable (& therefore pointless)...

Aside from the "brick" that you mentioned, we also have artistic sculptues of lions, dolphin, mermaids, and other marine life! The family comes for the mixing ceremony where we carefully mix the cremation ashes into the sculpture. Then, we have a memorial service out on the water before our Marine Divers escort the sculpture to the ocean floor and secure it. The whole process is done in remembrance of the person who chose to be memorialized this way, and ultimately their choice!
Almost every day of the week there are recreational divers at the site who respectfully wipe off the Bronze name plates to see who is resting there. So you'll find that a majority of the plaques are still readable. Come diving yourself and sea how amazing! Enjoy the day :)

Almost as stupid as making diamonds out of cremation ashes, but close. People are weird.

Besides the practicality, actually spreading one's ashes into the sea is much simpler and eco-friendly than coastally buried urns.

We prefer the term unique! People have been memorialized in a variety of ways such as sculpture for eons.
