    (Edited late 2020, read all for tips!) Everything in this video still holds true! However, when I mentioned the jumper cable on the motherboard 24 pin, it’s actually the 3rd and 4th holes not 2nd and 3rd. My mistake, and don’t worry, you won’t blow anything up if you connect the other holes by accident. I may make an updated version of this video so stay tuned!
    Useful tips that helped me:
    -Power supplies with colored cables are the easiest to wire by far.
    -The max output you’re going to get from a typical PC power supply (from Amazon or local retailer) is usually around 120 amp’s, meaning a 1,200 watt rms subwoofer amp is about the max you could power. Realize that a 120 amp (1600w EVGA) power supply will cost you an arm and a leg.
    -Combining power supplies for more output is not usually a good idea unless you really know what they heck you’re doing. In most cases will NOT work.
    -Your power supply will shut off if you push your sub too hard, it’s an auto circuit-limit that will shut it off so it doesn’t break, try not to overdraw your supply.

      Are you able to turn your bass all the way up? If I try to turn my bass up my psu shuts off for a couple of minutes. This tells me there is a village issue, that the psu has a protection feature that detects voltage drops or something. I've also read that you need 14v to get full power out of your amp and a psu will only output 12v. People are modding their psus, removing resistors and putting voltage regulators in them to get it to 14v. Do you know anything about this?
      I'm going to try an xbox 360 psu. Maybe that will work better idk. I'll try to report back with my findings.

    • @Savvy_VR
      @Savvy_VR  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LinuxUsersAreHung I wouldn’t mod any psus unless you know what you’re doing. 12v current is fine for the amplifiers but just realize the RMS ratings are conducted at 14v. This means 60 amps of 12v current will be a little less then 600 watts rms

      That supply will get it your sub moving, but if you wanna be safe and get max power I’d recommend finding one that puts out at least 20 amps. The more amps the better. Also, lots of car amps bass their RMS ratings at 14.4v, not 12v. So having extra amperage can help for sure

I know that you shouldnt go past the rms rating soo 900W tehnically would be enough? This power supply worked exactly the same for much cheaper and is much easier to separate the positive and ground cables. Simply use all the yellow cables for positive and all the blacks for ground. Check amazon.com- look for perhaps an EVGA power supply. The more amps (output at 12v) the better! You'd want 150 amps to fully satisfy your amp... however it may be difficult to find a power supply that powerful. Try finding one that puts out at least 60 amps if you wanna get your sub moving. If your sub is a 600 watt rms sub anyway, a 60 amp power supply would work fine!

      Of course, so the power supply will be used to power your speaker amp. Make sure your amp is powerful enough for your speakers (200w-400w RMS in your case) and then just find a pc power supply that puts out at least 40 amps at 12v. To do this, go on Amazon or another electronics store- search for pc power supply, look for perhaps a 500w model. You can view how much amperage the supply puts out from the photos on Amazon. It’s displayed on the side of the physical power supply in a graph form.

      60 amp fuse means find a power supply that puts out at least 60 amps at 12v

      @@Savvy_VR it doesn’t say that it only has wattage

      @@expired3725 Check the side of the power supply, there’s often a label that shows current output. It will show different voltages and the output of amps (A). Look for amps put out at 12v. it will be something like 40A or 60A depending on the wattage. If you want an easy rule of thumb, most pc power supplies are about 10 amps less than what they’re rated for. For example, the 500w power supplies usually put out about 40 something amps. 600w 50, and so on. If you want the exact answer though, do check the label on the supply for current output or check manufacturer’s website
