The altos are legendary in the Himalayas. They go where many 4WD's cannot.

Suzuki stopped making them in Japan in 2005 but continued in India as a Maruti Suzuki until 2014.

Something tells me those pads weren't for aches and pains, but for dehumidifying the car. Three of them at once is a bit extreme; maybe the scuttle was blocked with leaves and detritus, and water ended up coming into the cabin, so they were used to help dry the interior out.

I live in Japan and drive a 2008 Alto auto with just 55,000km. It still drives and smells like new and is perfect for nipping round the small streets of Kyoto. It has 4 electric windows, A/C, electric folding mirrors. it even sits comfortably on the highway between 80-100KPH. They're also surprisingly spacious. I'm 6 foot and easily have enough head space when driving.

Great story! They sell millions of these cars in india as the maruti Suzuki. Back in the day 1988 in india we drove from Delhi to Punjab approx 350 miles. Nothing too unusual in that but there were 6 of us in the car, my uncle, and aunties and cousin all large people, thankfully the my mum, my self and other cousin were thin, so did balance out. But still hard to believe how me made that journey

Matt really is going all out with the cheap motoring offerings, good shout with the way the demand is for them. Great video as always.

Those bags are moisture absorbers. Microwave them once the circle on them changes colour.

I'm glad you've gone back to the original format Matt. ... I enjoy these walkaround tours and your first impressions and funny comments. .. Please carry on like this - if it ain't broken, don't fix it !!

I know it’s small but the timer for when the car vertical ad plays is very appreciated

One of the most common car here in Nagaland, but we only get manual transmission. This car is loved by the people of hills as it gives a good mileage + low maintenance and can go about anywhere, even offroading. People travel from Village to city and it still runs smoothly after doing 200k km. Still a high demand car.

Used to knock those little beauties out from a Suzuki dealership back in the day. Unbelievable demand for such a basic car! That would still retail now at £2495 if you had the inclination to go balls deep with it! Great advice to crack on and deal with issues rather than procrastinating and allowing them to develop. 👌

What a nostalgic feeling! My father used to have this car and we have travelled miles in it. Watching this video brought back so many memories.🤍

This was one of India best selling cars. It is built to a price but it costs peanuts to run. After a few years, body flex sets in and the interiors disintegrates but they carry on battle scarred.

Changed my view on cheap small cars over the past few years. One of my jobs involves visiting anything from remote farms to really deprived areas. Having a little sh*t box that no one wants to steal or I’m not too worried getting scraped has it’s advantages.

That bible ruse is an Arthur Daly trick - he used to leave a church newsletter in the glovebox and claim the car was from a vicar 😂

Wow... Great to see this on the channel. You really don't see many of them about anymore! My mom bought one of these new (manual) in 2003. GL in that very blue! I'm only 27, but just seeing inside takes me back to being 7 again and the excitement of being in the Suzuki dealer checking out the interior! Amazing how far things have come in 20 years

I owned a 1999 1.0 Aulto and it was a fabulous little car and since had four Suzuki’s all of which were good dependable cars. If I remember correctly it did around 60mpg and that period of Aulto were made in India.

I’ve missed these styles of video. I’ve just always loved the walk around showing the flaws in the body and then the interior and the state of it. Just a very well rounded video
