I love that even with such short time, Peter O'Toole managed to impart some history lessons and elocution lessons. Clearly alcohol has gotten to him some, but he's a high-functioning alcoholic I suppose. I wish they'd let him speak more. I love his stories and the way he told them.
I love Peter O' Toole's voice. So legendary sounding lol. He's so adorable. I remember at the Oscars a while back, Jack Black and Will Ferrell sang a song and they threatened to beat him up because he is so legendary lol it was hilarious because Peter had no idea what was going on lol. Omg here I am gushing over Peter O'toole and just forgot about that sexy piece of Irish hotness sitting next to him lol. Love you JRM!
Don't get me wrong I love JRM but if I was either of those interviewers and I had the chance to interview Peter Fucking Legend O'Toole I would be directing all of my attention to him!
That would be the training at the RADA [Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, if memory serves], where accents were systematically obliterated into a homogenous English accent for stage and film. You'll notice that a lot of English, Scottish, and Irish actors trained in the 40s, 50s, and 60s have had their accents modified by their training as well: Michael Caine, Ian McKellen, Albert Finney, etc. I think it wasn't until the 70s that more realistic British/Irish accents came into regular use.
I love Jonathan Rhyd meters. So good looking and very sensual. Very naughty and not a Christian view. Wish I could have have met him a have is so beautiful.
What is your problem with Jonathan? It's not the first time you have posted something negative about him! Did he dump you or something? Show some respect to a fine actor!
It's much better now-a-days. When UK actors are hired for US-friendly TV shows and movies, though [as is the case with 'The Tudors'], their accents are modified for the sake of the US audience. But even in UK productions [for the BBC, for example] they'll soften very strong Scottish or Irish accents. One good example is Robert Carlyle, who has a VERY thick Scottish accent--yet has had to modify it even for UK movies like 'The Full Monty' or 'Gunpowder, Treason & Plot.'
@Akanechan234 that was proven to be a false accusation the woman suing him for it was found out to be lying and because he wouldnt give her money i think she got her lawyer to release a statement saying it was being taken to court and when he still refused to give her money she eventually went away and didnt persue it any further. there was an article explaining it properly a few months back but she was telling very big lies about him
And it just struck me: Did you mean Rhys Meyers or O'Toole? I'm talking about O'Toole. If you meant Rhys Meyers... I can only guess that he's been playing Henry VIII for so long now that the accent's stuck.
Oh my...this is very sad to hear. English, Scottish, and Irish accents are equally sexy in their own ways. What's with this accent genocide, this fuedal mentality? Sad day indeed. Thanks for the information, I had no idea.
he is fantastic as Henry VIII , all the more since his appearance is so different from him, I think JRM is one of the best young actors these days !
Peter O'Toole is such a friendly and genuine actor too !
He's very good in The Tudors. Very good.
The tudors had an excellent cast. Made the entire series worth watching. :)
I'm Irish, and I tink Jonathan is the sexiest man alive, I love you, Jonny..!!

Brilliant, Two of Ireland's finest actors working together on a decent series.

oh my god its peter o toole. Please don't die. You're a magnificent actor.
Jonny saw that poster of his hero and manifested his rise to actually work with his hero. Wonderful and extraordinary story.
Has anyone seen the film, Whats New Pussycat, with Peter O' Toole and Peter Sellers. Its fantastic i recomend it to anyone who is a fan of either.
These two men are extraordinary

Love you JRM!
Happy new year from algeria
Are you insane?? He is completely 'there'! He is a lot more articulate and insightful than the majority of actors half his age!
Appearance notwithstanding, he was a good Henry VIII.
Johnny is HOT
Great interview, could have used more O'Toole! But really, when is that not the case? Great post!
Don't get me wrong I love JRM but if I was either of those interviewers and I had the chance to interview Peter Fucking Legend O'Toole I would be directing all of my attention to him!
I love Jonny! "Corrupt?" "NO! Really?" LOL!
DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HighwayJoe they are both IRISH actors, they are not British, Ireland is not part of the UK. Irish people are NOT British
Well, they had to try to change their accents if they have Irish accents since their characters aren't Irish!
great interwiew buth i lock at the fans to knocking on the windows damn :)

he learned how to talk in an english accent
"Anne BORLEYN?"
I caught that as well..but he has had alot of english roles I guess..strange during this interview there isnt a trace of Irish..
Johnny = HOT
johnny...:D

yeah, i noticed that, but theres still a little dublin in there, oddly no cork really
Shameful. I'm so glad it's better now. I think his accent is beautiful. All accents from that part of the world is beautiful.
the guy is Irish and was raised in Cork, where's that english accent coming from??
What about Anne BORLEYN they guy just said with his mouth full?
@vivianmendoza100 Peter O'Toole? ;-)
Hes from cork in ireland why the hell is he speakin in an english accent
What is it with the American hosts not bothering to pronounce the name of the show (the name of the Royal Family) correctly? It's Tudor, not Tooder
How else would you pronounce Tudor?
عبد ميلاد سعيد
@dancebaby808
anyone acting today is just a nobody compared to peter otoole

only some people have that problem, but it is really annoying...
r u jealous? lol
I think they tried...Peter wasn't all there...
