I still don't really see what's the point of having 3 doors since it's not a high capacity bus. To me 3 doors would only make sense if it's a bendy bus, double decker, or a really long single decker.

it's not just that.when there are full people at the bus, it will be easier to get out of the bus with three doors.with two doors,it will be harder and the people sitting needs to get out and say excuse me to people.if they didn't add three doors,sometimes people might missed their stop.

I missed my bus 1 time already , so having a three door bus is better than taking a 2 door bus

Let me give you my honest opinion:
The wheelchair and pram space are in most of the buses, so?
Also, where are the charging points?
And the extra door also means that it need more space, this means that there are lesser seating capacity for passengers. Less convenient and much more uncomfortable for commuters as lesser seats in the bus = lesser people taking that bus. Might as well make the bus longer which i don't see...

very badly designed there will be less seats and this will result in the bus being full of people standing and will block the doors.
Been into this bus in sweden... Same design... Not many ppl can aboard... Waste of money..
Sadly this bus is scrapped, bearing the registration plate of SG4002G before converted to LTA's Smart Bus and then getting scrapped.

Dear SMRT, as someone who have been taking the bus for the last 37 years of my working life, this is like the worst idea ever.
Buses need more seats.
Having that extra door takes away from that.
When you have people going to work and going home, the concern for virtually everyone is the ability to get a seat and get some rest.
NO ONE has ever complained about buses having not enough doors.
But plenty of people would complain about not getting a seat.
So instead of putting on our roads buses with unnecessary number of doors, please put buses with more seats.
It is very obvious that whoever comes up with this idea never taken a bus especially during rush hours.
SMRT would benefit if you get your staff - including your executives - to take the bus once in awhile so that they can understand where the actual priority is for your passengers.
You should reconsider that complain as if u add more seats like take example the dennis dragon on the second deck in hk which uses the 2 by 3 configuration, it will be harder to get off the bus. The point of the third door is to allow more people to get off the bus faster that way commuters waiting for it don't have to wait for a long time.

No. it can also help people who need to get out when there are full people.when its full with two doors,people sitting at the back must say excuse me to people so they can get out.with three doors,it will be easier.with two doors,people might miss their stop when they are stuck together.

The far back end seats are so dangerous, should install at least a sit handle for passenger to hold & push themselves up when alighting safety.

What happened to the bus
Do you guys think it was their own idea to have buses with a third door. I pity those bus captains who always have to plead with the commuters to move in but they refused to budge. In Singapore the kiasu commuters always liked to park themselves near the exit doors. I wrote in to them and gave them the idea to bring in buses with a third door at the rear of the bus so that commuters will move in automatically. As usual those employees only sits in the comfort of their office with high pay and big fat bonuses and wait for feedback. Then they stole our ideas and claimed credit. When ready they will invite Khaw Boon Wan to sit in the bus and take pictures.
