- Join me as I head to Alton Towers to check out a brand new event at the park for 2022! Festival Of Thrills transforms the areas around each of the resort’s big 7 roller coasters with live music and performers! In this vlog I experience everything that this awesome new event has to offer by checking out 8 different acts across 4 stages around the park. Along with sharing highlights from all of the themed entertainment, I soak up the fantastic atmosphere from Festival Of Thrills at Alton Towers!

I love the dark forest one. The theme of 13 is so intriguing yet we know so little about it, so I love that they have brought back things from its early days to build up the atmosphere for what is a pretty scary ride if you have never done it and do not know…

The violinist in dark forest YES! Love her! It’s a little soul destroying for all those talents musicians being mostly ignored though. 😖 All looks fab, I’m hoping to make it to the park this month! 🙌

Oblivion: *ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF*
Festival of Thrills looks RIGHT up my street. What better than Coasters and live music? I'd happily spend a few hours of my day outside Wickerman checking out all the folk/rock bands. Awesome additional event for the park and I can't wait to see it in a few weeks.

Let’s just hope they have this many roaming actors for scarefest this year. I personally think this event is a bit pointless but glad they’re trying new things each season.

I loved this! Especially the violinist and the mia duo for wickerman! I know some people think it's a bit crap but I think it's just a nice touch to celebrate and bring the vibes to the rides! It's their first time doing something like this and it's a bloody good start!

06:46 spinjam (air raid) looks surprisingly good with the lighting that alton towers changed from green to red and blue on the arrows at the top of the ride!!
i'm still unsure about the fairground rides i've not been since they added them but they are definitely lacking in flat rides so i guess these are better than an empty spot, i'm going in june so will try them out!
Oblivion rave looking freaking radical
I love the theme of TH13TEEN, it has probably my favourite theme out of any of the coasters at the park! (Wicker man in a close second) and they really nailed everything to do with it! From the horror vibes to the spooky atmosphere, I loved it!

I just noticed, but on galacticas stage, those chairs look like they're from a Passenger plane.
Plane = Flying
Flying = air

But... Galactica is also about flying through air??

Alton towers has to be the most creative out of all the merlin parks and i love it i also wanna point out spinjam it looos really good with that new lighting i could see them getting a permanent version og an extreme which could look really cool

Reminds me of Oakwood years ago where they had entertainment on with a high diver and literally the field was packed.
Also gives us pass holders something different to do if the parks very busy and only want to ride the odd coaster 😃

I love the x-sector one it’s such a good atmosphere and the dancers are a good fit for it. Intriguing people to dance which is good for people to enjoy it 🤍

Always feel bad for bands that are there to put on a show and no one stops to appreciate it. I know in essence, people don’t go to theme parks to watch live bands but I still wish they had a bit more of a crowd 😞
Hopefully the atmosphere will be even better on the busy days!
Looks like Charlotte would love that Oblivion dance party. Shame she didn't make it for this trip.
Seems like a nice additional event for the calendar, my only nitpick is those aeroplane seats on the Galactica stage, they were a choice lol
You know, Shawn, every time you post something from Alton Towers, it always further piques my interest in one day coming here. I live in America and this park has been on my bucket list for quite some time now.
Hopefully you can come over and experience the park at some point!
This event looks amazing. I cant wait to check it out in a couple weeks time. My favourite stage by far was the dark forest one. Loved the 80s rock act and the gothic strings were a really pleasant surprise. This is a really cool thing the parks doing, it's a really unique event that I haven't seen anywhere else in the UK really. Really hope they bring it back year, maybe with some different acts. I feel like some heavy metal would work quite well for the nemesis act if they were gonna rotate some acta out.

You've read my mind Callum. A bit of heavy metal would be great on The Nemesis stage. I really like the vlog and all the music here on offer but I've got to ask you Shawn. In October you really slated heavy metal at Alton Towers, you said that it didn't fit with a historical theme park. But all other music genres do? How does that work?

I'm still friends with someone on FB that pretended to be one during Th13teens's construction... I think my 16 year-old self thought it was a genuine stunt from the park, when really it was probably just an enthusiast having everyone on :P
Come to think about it I still follow the two 'filmmakers' from the Smiler teasers as well 😅

I was at the park Sunday just gone and DJ sidor was mixing on the x sector stage. Sadly once we got off oblivion he had stopped but I was so looking forward to having a rave at towers! Might have to head on down during the festival of thrills to make sure I can do that!

Good on Alton Towers for doing such a great job with events. This looks great! It will be an even better festival over busy periods like the Easter weekend, and some sunshine and warm days will top it off. Our Tayto Park could take a leaf out of the Merlin book, for sure.

Dark forest is definitely my favorite, the spooky theming has really worked for me.
Great video, the stages and music create a very nice atmosphere with the coasters running as well. I do think that Towers Street could be themed quite a bit. Themed bunting and a good photo opportunity would be nice. Great video.!

I went the same day all out representing smiler in my outfit (also with my bag but smiler bag is my everyday bag). I REALLY stood out when I was sitting in hq waiting for my friend to arrive and for the park to open but all my work friends know im smiler mad🤣 At the end of the day after a front row ride on smiler me and 2 ladies got to join in dancing with the smiler dancers bc we were all smiler themed
Man, that xsector music would have me, and lots of others here, running for the exit. The electronica must be a Europe thing. That violin was great, though.

I agree I had little skepticism of the event no big stage or food and drink vans and only music near the coasters but it looked a cracking event package
