Wow, I was considering picking up an X3 XRS the local dealer want to blow out but think I’ll stick to my good ole turbo S. I had no idea the x3s were so poorly engineered and made. That paper thin sheet metal and single shear is down right scary. Thank you for posting this.
Great vid as always. I was just curious if you guys, or anyone out here in youtube land, has had issues with the stock mounting. I see these kits all over the place online, but I do not personally know of anyone or have heard of anyone, who has any issues here. I find it hard to believe that the engineers at can-am would have designed these important areas for failure, but not saying it's impossible. After installing any of these gusset kits, where would the "weak link" link be? Im not sure what would actually break without these kits, but I do know from "expensive experience" that when you start beefing up stuff, you make the cheapest part to repair, your "weakest link". Thanks guys. Appreciate it.
Yes, we have seen the paper thin stock braces wrinkle up and bolts bend. We have seen the front bulkhead bend and even seen the lower frame tweak on these due to the single shear. Your full suspension is riding on a bolt only supported on one side for the rear upper and rear lower A arms. The weak link is the lower A arm, we discuss this at the end of the video.
really good vid. I did a shock tower brace and gusset kit last year on my 18 and this is the first vid I have seen of most of the steps...nice job! Also, man, it looks soooooo much easier with a lift vs jack stands and blocks on your back
Thanks! We worked to try to take the guesswork out of it for a novice doing it in his garage. The lift is needed to get the camera in the right places... Yeah... right. We are too old to do this on jack stands.
Great video guys thanks. This winter I'm going to spend some time in the garage tearing into my Xrs to do some powder coating to match my roll cage. I think that will be an opportune time to look into this as well since I'll have the shocks pulled out.
He has only rode with us once as he is a busy guy. He ended the day with a check engine light that ended up being a bad O2 sensor. His main issue is trying to keep up. His machine is more bus than sports car in the trails. He can do well on slow rocky trails, but wehn we get in the open and wind it up, his machine cannot turn or respond as fast as the Can-Am X3 or RZR XP...
I have a 2019 Can-Am X3 Max XRS and would like to know what all went into modifying the F-22 bumper to accommodate the larger winch mounting dimensions ... I would like to run either the Axon 45s or 55-s ... great video.
All we had to do was trim the bottom of the bumper tubes slightly and weld in new metal to make it fit. Took us about 20 minutes, mostly to bend in the new pieces we cut out.
@@wrenchesrides You started with Assault Industries F-22 bumper correct? Did you have to drill new holes for the wider winch mounting pattern?(it appears to have (2) sets of holes for mounting the winch) Did you add the (2) small bars on either side on the top bar (support / light mounts) or are those included? Do you have a photo of where you trimmed the bottom bumper tubes? Sorry to be a pain just really like the bumper and the idea of a larger winch for my 4-seater.
We did not need to drill new holes for the winch, but we did for the fairlead. We did add those side bars and light mounts. There is a flag mount for the dunes added also. I do, but don't know how to post it in the comments. Maybe we should do a video on all the little things we customized?
I bought this kit. I've watched this video multiple times. Let's just say, not all of us have your tools and lifts. I'm a millwight and have a ton of tools, not that lift though.. Very generic video, (per se). Correct me if I'm wrong, this is the TH-cam video that explains it all with the kit I bought?!?!? Granted, it's aftermarket. Buyer beware but.... More detail. Video was edited way to much. I'm having second thoughts.
@@wrenchesrides I asked, was told it fits every X3. Wrong! I'm documenting it. Once I'm done.... As far as each step, bwahahaha. Ikea paper diagrams are more detailed.
I’m about to do this install and found your video. First of all, thank you. Second, the winch bumper I bought is clearly going to need some modifying. If you look in your video at 13:08 it appears you didn’t drill the bulkhead to allow the winch mounting bolts to go through and it’s making it so you cannot remove the winch without removing the front bumper in addition it looks like it’s bending the bumper plate? Any issues or advice?
Our winch bumper was highly modified and weakened by the mods to fit a Warn Axon 35. We would have to remove the bumper to remove the winch so we did not drill it.
Good (and bad) video. :) Good because it convinced me to buy the kit. Bad because now I am installing and it isn't as easy as you made it look. Bought the kit for a 2019 maverick x3 xds. Why are there only 6 main bolts (4 for the front, 2 for upper rear, and then what for the lower rear? - Stock ones won't be long enough now apparently?) For this kit and price you'd think that you would get everything.
Our video should walk you through this and make it easy. Two people help! it also helps if they know how to wrench. If you need longer bolts, call assualt. They should have this down by now.
After you have a gussing kit put it on the front of the rig and a shock tower and the job is completely done when I’m at the front of the rig and I push down on the bumper it doesn’t go up and down it’s real stiff is this normal for the new gusset kit Does it take a little ride loosen the friend end up
Can I ask a question how do you have the gusset kit and a shock tower put on the front of the rig and complete the job is the Reagan a little stiff in the front is this normal to be a little stiff does it loosen up app to drive it
Did you have to put different bolts on the back lower gusset kit? The kit im doing has about the same gusset but the stock bolts are about a 1/4 in to short to get the lock nut all the way on

Great work! Thanks for doing this install! 🤙
Thanks for making awesome parts!
I wasn't impressed. Change my mind. I just bought this. You couldn't either make a real video or send instructions. Again, change my mind.
Thats why u buy a XX beefy as F. 😉
Nice video guys 👍🏻
Our buddy has a XX.... Everything has pros and cons....
Looking into getting an XX. Curious if ur buddy has an issues with it so far?

If only Can Am made these machines properly......I’d buy one. Maybe one day they will.....
Looks like those 2022’s are pretty dang solid.

If the rear upper a arms holes are oblonged will this fix it?
Is a bumper and winch combo available for this gusset kit without crazy modifications?

We ended up using a nutsert and a bolt.

Yes, We did have to change them.
@@wrenchesrides what length did you put in it?
What was the first cordless saw that was used?
Was it a small gray recip saw? If so it is a 12 volt Ingersoll Rand body panel saw.
@@wrenchesrides Yes sir! Thank you!
Will this work neither smart shox?
How is this compare to the tmw?
How did you get the plate and nuts on the bottom front a-arms bolts?
We showed you in the video.
Does that front bulkhead piece shift everything 1/8 forward..do all the front plastic mountong holes still line up?
Basically, everything shifts 1/8" forward to allow the brackets to fit. Everything still lines up great.
Thanks guys
What type of lift is that you are using?
Bendpac HD9w
This is why you buy a KRX or XX. Going fast is cool but I'll be riding while you're working on you car🤣
Glad I seen this, I know now not to purchase. Definitely only for extreme duty
ringo11 wtf
Sorry, I mean you would only want to take this on because you need to due to extreme conditions.
