They say Jeeps aren't bought they're built. I'd say the same about dirtbikes. There's all kinds of racing and trail riding. And so many types of terrain and ways to ride it. I've been building a specialty dirt bike for mountain trails and volunteer work. One of the things it needs to do that is a kick stand. I found a good one. A very handy item. I remember trail riding and looking for a tree or a post to lean the bike against while opening the gates. Usually, they ended up 20 - 30 yards away.

Split pin, use once, unless it is not broken, then use till it breaks...... Or if you have nothing in stores to use.
Locking wire however is definitely a use once item.
