Jim sold his guitar amp for ECM cut outs. I love it.
Great interview! Like them talking about local record shops ! I live in the north east of England and the only shop that stocked music I like ( whitehouse , nurse with wound, current 93, death pile, prurient ) closed 10 years or more back it was called alt vinyl ! Now it costs a small fortune buying music online from all over the world ! Import is the main problem since England is no longer in Europe!
I loved this interview. Thanks for putting all these out there Greg.
great to hear JOR is a an ECM freak like me.
Excellent interview! Was stoked to hear Jim talk about FennO'berg. Please bring him back and ask about playing shows with Flying Saucer Attack
Great conversation. Thank you for sharing.
104 enthralling minutes...Thanks Greg and Jim
Nice to hear ‘Picture of Light’ mentioned (one of my favourite films)
Love you Jim, great interview
Thanks for this interview.
Killdozer yeah!
very enjoyable!
Wild to see that Oswald Elektra cd… I guess Jim and I were doing college radio at the same time. Great talk!
I think he means Oak Park not Park Ridge and that would be Frank Lloyd Wright he's talking about. Val's Halla was a great shop back then.
Funny the comment about CDs. I'm seeing them come back. Particularly with younger, kind of on trend hard techno prodcuers, particularly with cyberpunk and y2k aesthetics.
But also more genrally as people cant be bothered with vinyl more and more
If anyone else is curious, Jim is talking about BeOS.
Kind of hilarious that Jim's user name is PutneySwope
Maybe someone recognizes those two musicians that he mentions at 1:37:20? Thanks
T2 and jan dukes de grey?
he was talking about david tibet
Thank you! @@outersounds
Is this Greg Davis?
yes that’s me!
@@gregorytylerdavis Hi Greg! Great vid
@@gregorytylerdavis you guys are talking about “kima”. I googled but I’m not finding out what it is.
these dudes spent the first 10 mins flexing on each other lmao who do you know? where have you played??
lol what are you talking about?
did you watch it? the opening is these two checking each other's resume, they clearly have some proximity to one another and it was funny watching them try to navigate around an introduction@@gregorytylerdavis
@@morrisman yeah that’s me, jim and i are friends, both are from chicago, went to depaul and moved in some similar circles, except jim is a little bit older than me
okay but do you understand my first comment now lol @@gregorytylerdavis
@@morrisman it seems to be a social convention of people from boston and chicago to painstakingly describe which specific parts of the of geography they are from and where they have been and when and for what reason
