Counterpoint, modal structures and of course microtones along with tonal harmony! Not to mention the sound quality. Wonderful record😇

I really like what Toral said at the end about the possibility to make stuff that is modern and original without being necessarily ugly/destructive/negative/abrasive.

Thanks so much for this! Am glad this has been repressed--even Moikai/1st-ed Drag City reissue prices are now bonkers.
I assume when Rafael mentions at 9:31 a fast track whose wobbly tempo is due to it being hand-played that it's "Wask", definitely an album highlight (esp with the weird muffled Robert Ashley-isms that open it up; after him mentioning it, it's really neat to pick out the back-and-forth double-track hocketing which builds up the keyboard line): th-cam.com/video/0mfJYGGCRSs/w-d-xo.htmlm04s

There's an article with quotes from Nuno himself and he describes processes like recording several tracks on top of a first one and then deleting it. It's in Portuguese, though... www.rimasebatidas.pt/fernando-magalhaes-plux-quba-de-nuno-canavarro-e-um-album-com-escola/
