I am Venezuelan and for 6 years I have been living outside my country due to the political and social situation that exists there. Like everywhere there are good and bad people. I can say that there are more good people than bad ones. This video made me very happy. Thank you
even before this video Ive heard Venezuelas economy had been improving. I don't know to what extent. It sounds like a real oversimplification to say an entire country is doing better but I really hope that is the case.
@@MultiBmorgan We all hope the same. The reality is that the times of extreme scarcity have passed. I understand that today there are many products in the country, almost all imported. The problem, as is customary in Venezuela, is that there is a lot of speculation with prices and the most serious thing is the real income of the workers. When I left, a worker's salary was around $5 USD. Nowadays it seems to me that they earn 130$ USD. The price of products and services is equal to or higher than those that can be found in Europe or the United States, meaning the population lives in absolute precariousness.
On the other hand, the places mentioned in the video are authentic paradises. I invite everyone to consider visiting them. I'm sure you won't regret it. As a Venezuelan I would like many more people to visit those places. You will find humble but helpful people. It wouldn't hurt to find out about the current conditions before going. If there have been reports of incidents. In the end precautions are always necessary.
Sounds like they had a great time. Perhaps so many have avoided it for so long, they’re glad to have sailers back again. Regardless, nice to hear it’s better than many thought.
My insurance compnay will withdraw all coverage if we go to Venezuela. I spent years there in the 1990's but now the mainland is dangerousn and I don't care what this guy says. The out-islands are different but the mainland is lethal
It's interesting how a particular area gets a reputation for being dangerous or unfriendly. I heard so many stories about how the southern US was dangerous for hippies in the 70. It was never dangerous for me and I was there quite a bit. Glad to see that Venezuela isn't the war zone it's made out to be. Keep the good stuff coming Clark and safe travels in Europe.
Great video ,many thanks .I 'm a sailor ,sailed all over the Pacific Ocean solo. Now ,I m in Punta Arenas Antarctica Patagonia Chile 🇨🇱 where strong winds blow from the west south. I wish you a fear of winds and following seas 🌊 ⛵️ 🐋
Right now the malandros are outside Venezuela. Making it a "safer" country. The history about pirates in Venezuela are real. As Venezuelan I am happy you had a good experience but it was a very dangerous country right now is not so dangerous because our malandros migrated
fortunately some people get lucky, others are not. this was a bit of a gloss over imo. maybe a factual comparison of what may or may not have changed with Venezuelas economy/society would better represent the actual safety of cruising there.
They went to Los testigos. Blanquillas and roques so this are very safe areas. Not piracy right now. Yes they used to be... i don't remember the name of the pirates they had their headquarters in Cumana. As they said mainland is not as safe as the islands right now @@MultiBmorgan
A guy I worked with was forced to leave venzuala by the government without any of his property, money, helicopter (yes you read that right) home, cars, bank accounts etc. He had lived there for years. He is a Canadian. Another guy I worked with said every government person comes and demands money or good from you
One yt sailing channel had a run in with the military trying to get them to come to the mainland for a search of their boat and the lady on the sailboat spoke fluent spanish and she went round and round refusing to comply and somehow they got away and said never go there😡☠️💀
There is probably a sweet spot (for the criminals). If there are too few potential targets in an area the crime will not follow. If there are enough to make it worth the criminals ROI, you will see more crime. Just the fact that the local officials have power for one hour a day does not give me any confidence in their ability to function. They gave them almost $400 but they don't enforce their own policies. Not encouraging. My guess is reports of crime being less prevalent is because people have been avoiding it.
Several years ago an entire US Navy Fleet entered the waters just off shore of Columbia in the Caribbean. That's the only information I heard. That might have been to get rid of the cartels in the area. They might have also entered into Venezuela as well. This was during the first or second year that President Trump was in office.
Classic YouTubing for sailing/cruising rather than sailing/cruising for TH-cam. Great content.

Clanks videos are so intelligent and well informed… expect this one.
How nice to hear about your plans to sail in Sweden! Get in touch when it's getting close for some tips etc. 🇸🇪😀😄💕
Sweden 🇸🇪! This was unexpected! You know who to call 😉 There’s something with Sweden having the most islands in the world.

Yes, isn't socialism great
We were there in
2005,no problems, lovely people. All depends on the on your attitude
That was before the socialist government imploded and the starvation started. Back then everything was good.
This is all good stuff to know
Dangerous!! My best friend lives there, if it’s not the drug cartels it’s the government that will get you! I wouldn’t risk it!!

Very interesting. Things change. But a few ppl having a good time isn't an indication that it is or isn't safe. Real data is needed
very true

Hello, we couldn’t find their link in the description!
Sorry. It's there now

Should be safe now all the criminals went to the U.S..
And Europe.
If I could give two thumbs up, I would.
