A while ago I posted about one of my personal favorite controllers to use, a custom Dualshock 4 that was made sometime in the fall of last year. Yes, I'm that far behind on content. But this video documents all the upgrades, the prices you can find them for, and why DIY pro controllers a good route for cheap pro controller upgrades. It also teaches you the in's and out's of controllers and how to work on them, which is a valuable skill when you use devices as unreliable as these! Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this one. A quick note that the back button attachment can be bought for less than $30 if you look around, same with the DS4. Both of these can be found new, or in the case of the BBA, lightly used for less than stated in this video. However, even with the prices in the video, the controller is still exceptionally cheap!
For what it’s worth, if you’re planning on taking the controller apart in the first place extremerate has two and 4 button remap kits also available for 30 bucks that work great!

Insanely doubt this will be seen but if I already claw, are back buttons even remotely necessary? or can I reasonably give Sony the double fuck you's and keep my $30 and for a custom controller shell / new game?

Sony may not have done much for PC compatibility however there's plenty of ways to use dualsense with windows. Many apps have been updated with improved support. Even steam input supports edge and allows you to map the Fn and back buttons.

I've been scouring Google and reddit for tips on replacement ideas for parts on v2 chroma, but am coming up with nada. Can't wait to see what you do with yours lol
would love to see the most most elite diy ps4/ps5 controller, including the drift fix and maybe custom shells? i've seen some back buttons that you have to assemble yourself , etc
Good video, i have the back button attachment for DS4, it's really bulky, especially gets in the way for fighting games but for the price it's worth it.

I would rather see a soldering-mandatory back button solution. It’s definitely possible to achieve pro custom company results with some drilling, soldering, and a few cheap switches/wires. Having plenty experience tearing down and customizing controllers yet also having never soldered before I’ve been itching to try it but just not clear on the exact touch points, where to get the wires/switches, etc
Extreme rate's Dawn Remap kit (which I still use) requires soldering if you want to allow R3 and L3 to be mapped to the back buttons. I didn't do that personally as I nearly always have my thumbs on R3/L3 but for the most I do want to learn soldering as well.
I would love to see a ps5 controller with similar upgrades to what you did with the ps4 controller, and maybe show what you can do both with and without soldering.

Also instead of base ps4 back button kit. Get the extremerate full clicks kit and the rise4 remap kit. Ultimate ps4 roller IMO. With their swappable thumbs ticks as well
I'd love to see one on Dualsense. I'm on the fence about the Edge because my controller with the back button mod started to develop horrible drift.

If you have not tested it you should which is the extreme rate back buttons for the ps5 controllers. Way nicer than the dualsense edge controller and costs in total for a controller and back buttons..... less than £100 and about 20 mins of your own time installing it 👍

Ps4 with back paddles is exactly what I use for fps games on my pc. However, every year or so, I gotta buy a new controller because the stick drift gets so bad. First like here by the way 👍
I use this for every games, I prefer rolling and sprinting mapped to the back.

Just an heads up
The tactile buttons kit is an no go in my book. I remembered I ordered an controller off an builder and they used the extreme rate kit. I was very disappointed. Coupled with the anti drift stick pcb.
I reccomend looking at scuffs setup for the triggers as it's an true mouse click was an squishy click the extreme rate like kits give.
Ie I just Frankenstein my controllers, org scuff triggers, everything else has been replaced when needed
Should definitely do a PS5 controller with the 4 back button mod, it kinda makes the dualsense edge look goofy

Can you do one on DIY solutions that improve the thumbsticks making them more resistant to drift and possibly more accurate? Gulikit doesn't make thumbsticks for the Ds4/Dual sens unfortunately
I'd love to see a DIY PS5 controller. Please do include the soldering attachments, just toward the end of the video or something. I've been interested in some sort of PS5 controller upgrade since Xbox bumpers are fucking terrible durability wise and a custom PS5 controllers are expensive and quite fragile.

I'm looking for a razer wolverine TE with no extra buttons. I'm 200% serious too. does the v2(not croma) have the same analog sticks as the te? Cause I hate the magnetic thumbsticks. They like turning a steering wheel
No V2 is very good but the rb/lb and rt/lt rub together slightly so you need to a do a little bit of work

I’d like to see a DIY dualsense video as I’m buying parts to do my own. I’ve never soldered so would be interesting to see a pcb install. I know it’s more difficult to upgrade currently with BDM 030 controllers. I know console customs offer clicky triggers for the 030 and xtremerate haven’t yet

Honestly this seems like a better alternative to building a diy PS5 controller, it requires far less work and if you dont care about micro usb is extremely cheap.

Pcb with out hall effect analog thumb sticks is like hot dogs without mustard. Guess what I already have a Ps4 controller. Get King Kong pro 2 and you have the perfect controller. For Ps4 don't know if it works with Ps5. I have xbox series s and it works with cronus pro. You can use x-aim with conus pro to use gyro aiming with x-aim. I am going to make tutorial on this soon. Check out tutorials on how to use steam controller on xbox series and xbox one now. Should have new total tutorial on how to use Ps4 controllers with gyro aim and, nintendo switch contollers also with x-aim on cronus pro
