- To debut Koren's Beauty Kitchen, I decided to demo how to make your own lipstick bullet. Thanks to my sister who has been looking for a periwinkle lipstick for months, and inspired me to just custom make one for her. Make sure to read the info below for the ingredients used. This is also a great way to recycle your limited edition lipstick tubes!! Forward to your friends, or anyone you know who likes to make makeup. You can use Iron Oxide or Lake Powder as alternative colorant!
Mica or mineral eyeshadow, or regular pigments will NOT stick to the lips.

I just wanted to say that your tiny scoop isn't 15cc, it is 0.15cc (usually just written .15cc). 15 cc is MUCH bigger.

@doriosity sure you can - you can also use those candle melter things. You just need to melt the base without boiling.
@winterwinwin remember, put your own signature to it. I gave the base go from here. Create colors, effects, scent, flavor, etc.

How do you change the finish eg a matte or satin finish
Lip balm would work well, it's naturally matte-looking on the lips or you can use Chapstick
@reggiehuiyi the chemistry changes within the ingredients.
Hi, in the description you mention that mica woudl not work but you add mica in a duochrome color, so you can use mica? it will work?

thats so cool lol. i havent seen ur videos b4 so when the video started i thought you were joking. like ppl who makes parodies and stuff. and after the video went on i was like"0_0" hes serious. lol. in the lip colorant thing is there any lead in it. cuz theres actually a lot of lead in lipsticks (or cosmetics in general) but company just dont state it. thats y im looking for ways to make my own lipstick without lead. so that i wont die -_- i usually end up eating everything i put on my lips

i messed up my lime crime lipstick. do you think i would be able to take the product out of the case, microwave it, and then put it in the mold, fridge, etc. I imagine they are essentially the same ingredients. Or do you think the lime crime tube would be too big to even fit in the mold (part 2)? Another uber informational/great video!

I had always wondered about this process but it's really interesting to watch you make! If you didn't want to spend the $ on a mold, could you use a small tin (like balm sometimes come in) or would you have to worry about the metal reacting with the hot liquid? Thanks for a great video!

I can't see what that has to do with him making lipstick. I'm not a lesbian, but even if I was, I don't see why that should make the poster tell you his orientation. Personally, I liked how clearly he explained the steps needed to make the lipstick.
@MiissAnnabella11 Vaseline isnt good to make makeup out of (in my opinion) becase it will never dry and everything will get smudged super easy. It is actually used sometimes as makeup remover. Hope this helps all who are wondering.
is this color highly pigmented on your lips or does it just look that way on the video? The problem that I am having is it looks more like a gloss than a lipstick. I really have to rub it on to get a strong color.
@MiissAnnabella11 I don´t think so beacause even if you take the vaseline into the freezer and it gets frozen, when you take it out I think with a normal weather its going to became liquid again...

You can easily use a bit of beeswax (natural, not dyed!). Mix it with nice oils (I prefer canola) and a bit of paraffine jelly, which will make a very nice and conditioning lipstick/gloss. I usually melt it in the microwave.

It says that you wern't paid nor addiliated, but did you at least get the materials for free? It seems a bit ridiculous for them not too since they use your video on their website.
@gela1597 Food colouring is water based and the lipstick base is wax based. Wax repels water, so it won't work. The dyes Koren used are oil based, so they're compatible with the base.

hey im a big fan of ur vids but i have one question if a cosmetic grad colorant dosnt say if it is safe to use on lips how do i know if i can use it in my lipstick making

@Brookke999, other videos on youtube say to use vitamin e stick which is sold as a lip balm. You can buy this at drugstores for about 99cents. Hope that helps.
O.K. Koren, don't laugh, but, I think I am the only person that don't have a microwave. could you melt the base like you melt chocolate on top of the stove.
I have tried to make them and it never turns out quiet right i want a drak/hot pink.. I cant gett it right any ine able to make it for me or help me?

Is there any other alternatives to lipstick mold? I'd love to create my own look, but $49.00 is a lot for just one or two tubes of lipstick.

They have huge selection great quality, lipstick molds sale out FAST soon as you see if you better buy it asap or it takes months to get them cause they are expensive the have the cheapest on up

@Vulrina if you are a makeup artist you might need it for theater or a fashion photo shoot. It wouldn't be for everyday use.
It seems like you could probably get a similar result using the OCC Lip Tar in Katricia and maybe a doing a little mixing...
@BeautyComment Yes, I've done that a couple of times, but then you just have to use a bit more to get the color to be opaque.
How long wearing is this lipstick? Can ingredients like silica be added to make it more matte and longer wearing ?

All of their lipstick are very opaque, and last really well ^^

Do they make a lipstick mix that is vegan AND soy-free? Soooo many makeups all have soybean oil in them :(
I don't understand how your vids that are broken up into two or more parts don't get equal play... odd.
if you use vaseline, its too sticky the the product in the bullet won't come up

Unfortunately, no because petroleum jelly is way too soft :/ They sell the base at TKB, though :)

would it be possible to mix your colours separately first then add it to the wax.
if you want a matte lipstick just don't add the mica just use the lip liquid

Great video! it is very helpful as I am about to attempt my first lipstick as well. May I ask how many drops of pigment can you use in 1 tablespoon of lipstick base? I see you only added one drop of blue and one drop of red, can more be added for a stronger pigmented lipstick?
