- The 1954 Lakewood video walk through tour. This is a solid, well built trailer. Length is 15 foot box plus tongue. Single axle. Current title with a California Permanent Trailer License. Brakes work as well as all running lights. New tongue jack and fairly new tires.

Howdy Larry, I discovered Lakewood began making large park models in the late 60s and even double wide MHs in the 70s such as their Gold Medal models.
OH I didn't know that. I really liked that trailer but I ended up flipping it as I had too many projects at the time.
This reminds me so much of the trailer my dad bought to go camping in, back in 1972.. dents and all! His was a 1956 Ideal trailer, previously owned by a construction company. The inside was in good condition at that time.. Loved the birch paneling interior! We had a lot of fine memories with the family camping outings.. When the trailer was just parked at our house, My sister and I slept out in it all summer!
So glad you found a good home for this one! Folks restore many things.. So why not vintage trailers?? Keep up the great work!

A ledger or a piece of ledger wood is nothing more than a piece of wood on the paneling that you build the bed or something else off of like a deck in your back yard that is built off of a piece of wood nailed to the wall.
I think if you've got the time /money /skills and space the trailer would be a fantastic restoration project for a professional restorer for an amateur a big headache
I have many women in my class who have never picked up a tool until now and they are building beautiful trailers all by themselves. Many of my viewers have built beautiful trailers out of way worse than this one. Just watch my videos is all you have to do.
@@mobiltec you are absolutely correct. I was a better builder/remodeler/decorator and all my stuff I built had to be unique. That's just me ... this caught my eye because I am a 54 model.
And, I have not taken any kind of class. It's in my blood. I'm a craftsman tool woman.

Does one have to replace the metal? I like the vintage original unless there's a structural problem. If replacement is for aesthetic purposes, then one could keep it, right?
As long as it's not leaking it can be kept. If leaking it must be repaired or replaced. Just depends on what you will do with the trailer, how you store it and how bad the damage is.

@@mobiltec Naomi Watts is the Child of Marilyn Monroe. Supposedly she runs in Lakewood yet I've never viewed this. Not sure what her father's doing, except I'm sure JFK would rather not be in Mafia Confinement. We have Mafia's Choking Everything in America on a Daily Basis.

don't bother replacing the aluminum, why bother if it is sound, it's all original. Love it.
I replaced it. The trailer is finished now.
mine is rare, same fixtures as this one.
did your landlord say why the increase, your place is nice with what you have to me. did you show this before with a lady living in it and she was to move.
No one has lived in this trailer as far as I know. I picked it up about 300 miles from here last year. My landlord decided he wanted to charge me for my trailers because he saw a buck to be made.
So it is a complete and total restoration. Doesn't seem worth it for such a small trailer (just my honest opinion).
Your opinion is welcome here. To some it's not worth it. To others it is. This trailer actually became an office inside of a big industrial building. It was exactly what the buyer was looking for and he drove all the way from Vegas to pick it up.
That's very cool then. At least the trailer got a 2nd chance at life.
Yak!! Your landlord wants to charge rent just for storing your trailers? That certainly bites the big one!
Looks like a good solid project, but it's a shame you're stuck with getting rid of it.
He started watching that stupid cable show Flyte Camp and Flippin RVs and decided I was becoming a millionaire. So he figured he should get a piece of the action. Well I can't really afford his piece so I have to cut the heard. The more I worked on that trailer the more I wanted to keep it but then again that's how they all are. Wait till you see the one I kept to restore. It was a tough choice but I'm happy with it.
I think I wouls have to get a new land lord.
