I agree Ipoh is underrated. It used to be a very rich region of Malaysia, but now Penang and KL are where the real action are. However, it can become better if more industries open here.
We could have observed a lot of beautiful houses, restaurants and objects here ✨ As far as we got told, many people come here to retire so many in the near future it’s going to be the an oasis for people wanting some more privacy!
You got to learn the local Kaya toast from Malaysia, as Ipoh is the origin of the toast. Singapore, Malacca and Kuala Lumpur have their own versions of this Ipoh speciality. Just like the local Chicken Rice, which is an Ipoh speciality available in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and elsewhere.
🙏🏽😍
Padang means field in malay.. usually iconic padang in Singapore and Malaysia is usually the place where locals gather to celebrate some national events in the past.
You guys should also check out the Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar and Batu Gajah. Both are in Perak state with so many historical attractions.
Sounds amazing! The only thing is that without renting a motorbike/car, we cannot go to these less popular places 👀
Karolina is always knowledgable always done her research… you guys make a good team
We really do!
Don’t worry about people beeping at you from their cars. They are actually saying “hi” to you. It’s just a friendly gesture especially when they see you doing some videos
Might be 😂
Awesome vlog 🔥🔥 love it 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!!!
Thank you for this wonderful video and for showing your explorations in Ipoh.
Glad you enjoyed it! Our pleasure!
@@JayeshChhaya Have a wonderful weekend. 😀
You should visit my school mate, Anderson school. Its a british school named after former british malaya governor
SMI is not the oldest school in Malaysia. I believe, the oldest school in Malaysia would be Penang Free School established in 1816. St. Michael's is part of the La Sallian community, which is a Catholic based school. Although these days, Catholicism is not so much the mainstay of the school anymore. There are La Sallian schools all over Malaysia, the oldest is St. Xavier's in Penang which is also the oldest in all of south east Asia. All of the La Sallian schools are government funded, therefore not private.
That's correct! Correction: SK St. Michael is one of the oldest!
Customer service is always good in Asia except maybe Hong Kong.
Kuching, Borneo is another hidden gem. It's the only UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in Malaysia. It's culturally diverse and has caves, old town, jungles, wetland, Island, beaches, etc. You would love there.
We're sure we would be amazed! Borneo is on our list 100% but it might be difficult to go there during our first trip around SEA. We will see!
I 100% agree, Kuching got some of the best Malaysian food, Try the Kolo Mee and Sarawak Laksa. It's quite not the same what you get in KL. :)
St Micheal is a government school. Not private.. It is a very popular very school, that parent registered their newly borned immediately. I am born in Ipoh.
For security sake, only parents or close relative are allowed to enter any government school.
A few decades ago, a school child was abducted at school in broad daylight. So fom then on, security became tighter.
Wow, that’s so interesting! Thank you for the insights!!!
welcome to Ipoh. the hometown of Oscar's best actress winner, Michelle Yeoh herself! :)

Cool stuff.. Malaysia..
I settled down in ipoh 35 years ago. I married a local Tamil girl and i started my business.
IPOh rice noodles in wide strips and chicken rice is very good ❤
Yeah SMI St Michael Institution where my late dad and his brother (my uncle) studied in the 1940s-1950s
Enjoyed the vlog as usual!! 💪🏻💪🏻💃💃💃. Guess what Jay, I stocked up the sugar free white coffee to Canada. The Canadians loves it. 🥰🥰🥰I prefer the sugar free version. You can get it from the supermarkets. We usually don’t dip the kaya toast in the half boiled eggs, we enjoy the eggs first and then will eat the toast. 🤩🤩🤩🤩. Maybe some do dip it. 😃😃.
You couldn’t resist 😍 The sugar free alternative is better for me as well since it is a little bit sweet itself too 🙌🏽 [Karolina]
Since we’ve tried dipping the Kaya Toasts in the eggs it became one of our favourite breakfast options in Malaysia!
Glad you’re enjoying the videos!!!
try visit sabah and sarawak. if visit pulau pinang you must try nasi kandar, char kuey tiaw. or visit restaurant pakmatwestern in penang
if visit penang must try pasembur... the best pasembur in penang is at lebuh union street... stalls beside old british building... stalls name kareem pasembur
1. Padang just means 'field' or 'green'. Stress the first syllable. 2. St Michael's Institution (SMI) is a Catholic school, but it isn't a private school. 3. The sound from the peak is the sound of cicadas rubbing their wings together. 4. The fork is for spearing and for pushing food to the spoon.
Thanks for sharing all those details 🙏🏽 It’s always really helpful and makes us understand how things work in your country!
I have only ate at Lou Wong Tauge Chicken Rice. Normally it is full house at Lou Wong just opposite this Ong Kee shop. What a grumpy loud voice woman in this Ong Kee shop. Now I know why it's not full house in this shop. You miss out on the Tau Fu Fa, the popular soya bean curd in Ipoh, just nearby to this chicken rice shop.
😂 Yes, the woman could have been nicer… Just had that Soya Bean Curd today!
Karolina has already explained White Coffee refers to the coffee processing. The white topping is just some milk froth when you order Coffee Latte, i.e. Coffee with milk. The keyword when ordering coffee, or any beverage in Malaysia is ‘Kosong’, i.e. No Sugar. So in this case, you could order White Coffee Kosong.
As for the kaya bun, there are actually 2 types- toasted or steamed. Steamed version is to be consumed immediately, but both are delicious with eggs.
The eggs are known as half boiled eggs, they are generally runny eggs. You can flavour the eggs with soy sauce and pepper, in Singapore ppl prefer datk sauce rathe than soy sauce.
For me personally, I ‘ll just add some pepper to egg, no soy sauce or dark sauce. Instead of dipping the bread (be it toasted or steamed), i’ll take a bite of the kaya bread, and take in a spoonful of the soft boiled egg and let the taste mix in my mouth
Thank you for all those instructions! A s coffee lover I obviously couldn't miss the opportunity to try the signature Ipoh White Coffee the in the city 🥰☕️ The taste was different from some of the coffees I have ordered before, but I could have seen that some of the Kopitiams around Malaysia are also serving it! [Karolina]
We like to mix everything together haha since it's melting in our mouths straight away!
St Michael is actually a public school. My nephew went there when he was still in school
Good Job
🙏🏽
the sound is like a kind of insect - 'Cicadidae'
🫣🫣
Padang in general means square. But Padang bola means football field. The word padang and followed by sports word, then it means for that particular sports field.
Thanks for explaining it to us!
ipoh, the hometown of hollywood and
james bond 007 academy award star
michelle khan and the film's location
for the hollywood movie 'anna & the
king' which starred jodie foster and
tom felton of 'harry potter' and me!
Wow! Little did we know 👀
boss look handsome like thai man so many ppl inside working..
taiping is more underrated than ipoh... I love taiping more than ipoh... taiping is a very nice city with a big lake garden... british built that lake garden... it's the first lake garden in malaysia... also have maxwell hill... maxwell hill have a similar history like cameron highland
Thanks for the tips! We actually spoke a bit with one of the Grab drivers, who actually comes from Taiping, and he said that both Ipoh and Taiping are charming cities that people are willing to come for a visit, stroll around, eat good food and relax! He also mentioned that Taiping is smaller thus there's les traffic jams as well as prices are lower so it would be totally worth visiting for sure!
Video Good 👍😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Mau jalan-jalan keseluruh dunia❤
Maybe u can make contents of ur own country as well! Vids of UK and England for us to enjoy! 🎉
Good idea!! We will see how we're going to approach the channel once back home! For now we still have plenty of countries to visit in SEA 😍
Please do more research about South East Asia and you will find so many similarities. We are really very similar yet different. Enjoy TRavelling and LEARNING :)
Will do! We love to deep dive into information about different cultures!
Normally the half-boiled egg is taken separately without dipping the bread
It is also common to dip in...you should try ..
I love to dip in... taste so great.
We also love it that way!
Never overstay your welcome in a Chinese restaurants kitchen. They're usually rather secretive of their recipes. Lol😅
So true!
Of course u can eat the bean sprouts everyday, they grow until fat and crunchy only in Ipoh. No where else are the bean sprouts this fat and cruchy! They tried to grow bean sprouts of this quality near KL but failed.
Try the dim sum for breakfast. They say its #1 in hong kong and #2 in Ipoh
They were so crunchy and fresh! No doubt they were the best we've ever eaten!
Most (if not all) missionary schools in malaysia are public schools… and my school is much older than st michael 😅
Great to know! Thanks for sharing!
sorry guys saint michaels school is not the oldest in malaysia. also not the oldest in ipoh.
* one of the oldest in Malaysia 😌
the view of mountain range at tasik raban in lenggong, perak are more stunning than that... tasik raban is only 2 hour from ipoh
I wish we stayed longer in Ipoh then!
Kaya = jam
PADANG MEANS FIELD
Thanks for helping!
You still missed 1 famous food in ipoh,Nasi Ganja
We were planning to go there today but chose some other places for the food tour 😬
Tao- gayh. Not tuggy. If it helps!
It does! Thanks 😍
I heard u said Rm39.90 but it's Rm29.90 right 😆
29.90 indeed!
@@JayeshChhaya still reasonable
I think it's overpriced for the food you guys eat. Maybe should ask them to calculate one dish a time. Normally they should have the pricing on the Manu
We try to calculate how much should we approximately pay and most of the time it’s easy to check with the menu, however, at that time we just ordered the most popular dish and paid whatever was said to us!
@@JayeshChhaya maybe you should check the price before ordering your next meal. By the way I wish and hope you both enjoy throughout your journey. Take care 👍🏻
That is way too much staffs
😂
Hello guys.... nice video and enjoy a lot...😊😊. Got to know about this channel from the post by @JackTorr. Thanks to him as well.
Welcome!!!

May I know why? We loved it.
Its crazy how much you’re an extrovert and your girlfriend is the opposite. I guess that’s what makes you two perfect for each other. 😅
