    You are absolutely adorable!!!
Here’s some tips when you make another one …
First of all on the faux fur backing - it is knitted
1- hence when cutting your pattern pieces, you take the bottom tip of your scissors and run it exactly underneath the knit fabric cutting only the knit fabric, not the fur -
Once you’re finished, cutting gently pull up your cut fabric, and it will gently separate from the main for yardage
That way you will not have butchered and chopped off any of the fur. By cutting the backing, only the fur will look natural.
2- the reason why your cut pieces got so big is again because it has a knit backing
And when you pick up your pattern pieces, they will really stretch out and become way too big to fit together so here’s what you do next time…
One way to do it is once you take your pattern paper off after cutting do not touch any of the fabric don’t lift it up don’t move it …
What you’re going to carefully do is take a needle and thread, and based around all the edges and knot it off better yet knot it off every 4 inches until done.
This way, when you lift up your cut pattern pieces, they will not out stretch .
Another way you could do this is take some muslin to hand base to the fabric around all the edges, of course on the backside acting as a stabilizer, which would also support your faux fur.
There is one other way but you’d have to be very careful..
You could use an iron on backing, which do you usually use a dry iron, but you could get away with testing a piece and try steaming, and seeing if the iron on will adhere to the net backing
You can’t press down hard or long as you could damage the fur so tested out or Google it.
Your broom should only have one back centerpiece not 2 seems that either end up front center and back or side to side - learned to follow the patterns, instructions on layout and construction.
Google how to sew seems on faux fur…
What many people do is take an electric shaver and shave off the photo for in your seam allowance area before you, so you’re right sides together,
Or when pinning right sides together, you want to push all the faux fur , back into the hat getting as much as you can, and keeping the fibers straight, not mushed up into the same line.
Most people also use office clips instead of straight pins when pinning together side seams.
Lucky for you thick faux fur covers a multitude mistakes
But so does youth and a great personality and beauty !
Your hat looks beautiful on you! With all the oddities, I think people will just think it’s artsy!
But don’t rely on that read instructions and learn how to sew you can do better !!!
    Good luck !

Sorry for the voice text errors. I hope you get my drift.
Another tip I forgot to tell you is never fold the fur fabric to cut a pattern piece
Always and only cut one layer at a time never to layer set a time !
      Good luck !

Thank you Rita! Sorry for the super late reply, I just needed to be able to read it all and take it in. Wow! This is why I love TH-cam! I've actually bought some new fur...but one that is a bit more like sheep's wool, and I plan to try again. So this will be so helpful. I really appreciate you taking your time to teach me. Thank you, thank you!

I wish you made tutorials. I watched some before attempting this hat and none shared some of the tips you shared here with me 🥰 If you don't mind, you are now my TH-cam auntie.

      @ oh, by the way…
Patterns are very expensive as well and I see them at Goodwill all the time I get some of those in expensive patterns to use to practice.
And they’re selling sections They sometimes have iron on facing threads, sewing notions and supplies and of course I do find lots of sewing books!
Also, when I was young, I’d find a blouse or a skirt and I would cut it apart so that that became my pattern that I would use on new fabric .
      Have fun sewing !
